I've been coming to this Salon for 6 years since I moved to Stamford from Boston. Their prices are reasonable, color choices are extensive, the people who work there are so nice, and the place is always clean. I knew this was the place for me when I watched them know almost everyone by name. They even remember the occasions for which you're getting your nails done. I've seen whole families get their nails done there (mom, grandmothers, sisters, husband, etc). They quickly learned my name and preferences no matter who does my nails. I found this place on the fly and liked that they were super busy...a good omen I thought. The original lady pawned me off to another one who didn't seem to know about doing so powders. She did not coat my nails in any base powder whatsoever. She took to the drill and I wound up with what is in the picture. So after I left I realized that there was very little top coat on my nails and they felt like gravel. Had to go back and they grilled. AGAIN. Then put the topcoat on "again". The manicure lasted about 9 days. Absolutely no idea what they are doing. I too got password around by 2 ppl. My nails are so thin that I cannot get another manicure until they grow out again. Not good. I moved so I don't ever have to go back but if I was still there I wouldn't anyway. The nail technicians need to be trained or something. I've been here years ago and wasn't a fan.. they did 2 pedicures before i quit going here- the nails were crooked and just not that great of a leg massage. I returned to get a manicure since they were open later than all the other surrounding area nail salons. I had no complaints about this manicure experience and it was a bonus that they had bright Barbie pink (which I haven't found at surrounding salons). Dash really used to be an amazing nail salon/spa, but I feel like they are losing that, unfortunately. I understand that they are busy, and that is great. But the overbooking and constant phone calls make it such a hectic experience, you just feel stressed most of the time. I called in advance to make an appointment and I mentioned that I would want a design on each nail. When I got there, the nail technician said, "I can't do that!!" (A daisy design) but then proceeded to attempt and fail at making the design. Had to switch the design on the spot, and that came out pretty bad too, but at that point I just wanted to get out of there. My nails were rushed through, steps skipped, bulgy, just not at all what I wanted. I am even embarrassed to show people. I know they can do better because they used to. As a new customer I felt rushed and they passed me around like a hot potato between pedicure and gel fill-in manicure. The facility is clean and you are greeted upon entry. Not too long of a wait time, considering I went on a weekend and I was seen immediately. Though their yelp says walk ins, they do take appointments and you will have to get up 1/2 way through your mani/pedi for the nail tech to see their appointment rather than them finishing with you. So I walked in and was seen almost immediately. I asked for a marble design (showed a picture) on 1 nail during my manicure. My one nail was a classic "expectation vs. reality" meme. Thank God it was only one nail. When I said "I think it needs another color so the veining looks realistic" the nail tech insisted that only one color was necessary. Needless to say I was disappointed when I walked out and annoyed because I paid more here than at my usual place for sub par service. Came here on a referral but I won't be going back. read more

Oh darn. Filled with optimistism upon seeing the Grand Opening sign. Courteous enough greeter/owner. Unsterilzed clippers. Nail files that look like they've been used on 50 people. Frowning manicurist who left a piece of dirt on the edge of a nail and could not file it smooth and straight after the requested dirt removal without involvement by the owner. Even after 30% tip. Then, aha, suddenly seemed to know how to check for straightness and smoothness. But streaky job. Hate to say it, but my nails almost looked better before I entered. They were not streaky. A friendly woman at the nail dryer bar said this was her third visit. For the same manicure!!! Been trying lots of nail salons in the area. Some passable, all disappointing so far. Been going to DASH for about 9 months. I was persuaded to get the CMD acrylic nails and Jenny did a good job. They would always start to split in the corners by the time 1 week rolled around, but they never lifted and my nails were usually pretty even. By the time 2 weeks came, there was normally good separation at the corners, but Jenny could get me in and out within 45 minutes. Spa pedicures were nice, but quick. I decided that the maintenance was too much for my nails. In the beginning, I was assured that the CMD product would NOT harm my nails and I just wanted everything off for a while. I made an appt with Jenny to have the product removed and was really upset that when I arrived she had the day off and booked me with someone else. The other person was very nice (they are all nice in there) but man my nails are TRASHED. I was charged an extra $3 for a certain color nail polish which started chipping the very next day. I'm not sure if my nails are splitting at the top layer (they're coming off!) or if it's the CMD product was not totally removed, but my nails are not going to look normal again until they completely grow out. The tools they use are NOT sterilized so be careful to bring your own. Otherwise they will just wipe off the instruments with the towel they used on you and throw them back in the drawer. read more

Really bad quality of doing UV color and gel. Tried this place couple of times. First, I did UV color and they said it chipped in three days because my nails are too thin, so they redid my nails and one day after they chipped again. On the way out they recommended UV gel and top with UV color. The first time I did that, it got air between gel and my nail within a week, so when I came to redo my nails they wondered who did such a bad job. Anyway, I redid the nails again with UV gel and top with UV color. Stayed like this for 9 days and now chipped in different places. Bad quality! Bad experience! Not coming back! read more

For $35 I got a spa pedicure that included a ten minute leg massage and callus remover. The girls talked to each other in a language other than English the entire time but that is to be expected at many places I suppose. This is a great nail spa. I went in needing a pedicure without knowing anything about it, and walked out with a perfect pedicure and gel manicure. The spa pedicure includes a 10 minute leg/foot massage and is only $30. I asked for a gel manicure as I was about to walk out, and they accommodated me no problem. Gel removal was included and that was also only $30. And a short shoulder massage! They were busy, the place full of locals and return customers, but not rushed at all. If you'd like to know how Dash truly is, please read. It's safe to say that many people blow up a place for a very small reason. I went to Dash today (3/11/2017) after seeing a friends nails and complimenting her. I've always been a fan of yelp because a lot of the time you can get a very good idea about a place. I'm also a firm believer in writing a review when my experience was great! Before going to Dash I did read the reviews, some I agreed with and others I just didn't. When I first walked in I was nicely greeted by the owner and asked a few questions regarding UV gel. I used to go to Coco Nails in Riverside and loved it, but felt their prices were WAY too high. They mentioned the UV full set was $60, you should know this is extremely reasonable for Stamford. My next question was do they charge extra for shellac polish? I find shellac gel is by far the best and lasts the longest. I also feel the shellac gel is much better for your nails. I was instructed to sit down and pick a color, Dash has TONS of great colors. They have numerous different brands of gel and probably 50 pallets to choose from. A nice, young guy named Jason sat down to do my nails. One of the reviews on yelp mentioned how amazing Jason was so I was quite pleased when he sat down. From the start of the process to the end he was fantastic. Since i didn't have the UV on my nails already, there was a bit more applied, but they still look SUPER natural. He was gentle, spoke very nicely and was absolutely meticulous. I'm quite the perfectionist so I loved how he made sure each nail was the same length (when comparing to my other hand) and he was sooo gentle. He was engaged in conversation but made sure to pay special attention to my nails. I picked this gorgeous emerald green sparkly color (everything is better with sparkles). In the past when I had UV on my nails I would go every three weeks. Each person is different, but unless there is something majorly wrong I think it's a bit overkill to go every two weeks. Beyond pleased with the experience!! Do yourself a favor and go see Jason! You won't be disappointed. As far as some of the other comments..... 1. There was mention of the shop being dirty - NOT true. Dash is very large, tons of stations and I felt it was very clean. 2. There was mention of the employees speaking in their own language - Somewhat true. This happens everywhere. I'd be surprised if you were to come across a shop that didn't do that. The girls looking on were very sweet and paid me a few compliments. They even helped me pick out a color. 3. Great selection of colors, gel included. 4. Nice massage at the end. After your first visit, they give you a card which specifies your visits and entitles you to a free 10 minute massage after eight visits. I think this is great customer service. read more

I've been getting my nails done for 12 years and NEVER ever have I gotten a worse mani/pedi in my life. After covid I was so excited to get my nails done. And yet they didn't even take the time to clean my nails. They rushed to get me out the salon. I kept telling my nail technician my nails aren't even. They didn't soak my nails they cut my cuticles dry. I've been to countless salons NEVER has that happened EVER! I asked around everyone said it was unheard of. Dash Nails is the newest nail salon on an already over-saturated Hope St. of nail salons. That being the competitive landscape, one would think they should be sure to stay competitive with the many other choices people have. But it appears that is not the case. Last Sat., I thought I would give it a try to have the gel color service I get. As I was walking up to the door, I noticed a big sign in the window that said that gel color nails "$25.00 (Mon. - Thurs.)". My first thought was that was a little brazen given most salons in the vicinity charge $25.00, BUT they don't set limitations on getting that price. I walked in, asked about the sign, and they confirmed it was the case. She proceeded to immediately push me to come in. I told her I was going back to the salon I always go to. (Ace Nails in the Bob's Furniture store retail center. It's got a little older decor, but they are really friendly and do a very good job. Their clientele is faithful, and they get a lot of walk-in traffic, but I've never had to wait. Interestingly enough, one of her former nail technicians left Ace and started Dash). Here's my quandary... I get Fridays, Saturdays and Sunday tend to be busy for nail salons. But, there is no change in the quality of their work that justifies customers pay more on weekends. Will your nails be done in a more quality way than they do during the week.... Not likely. That business model isn't going to hold up against cost conscious, but quality minded patrons, who have many places from which they can choose. I won't be giving them my business. read more

I am shocked by all of the negative reviews here - I love Dash. They have great prices, knew me by name after just two visits and are always very welcoming. Not to mention, my eyebrows have never looked so good...like, ever. Since I started getting my eyebrows done at Dash I frequently get compliments from friends, strangers, even my CEO commented on them. The lady that owned Reflections Salon in downtown Stamford opened this place up and she is so nice and good at what she does. I would definitely recommend this place. They know you by name and are very nice and polite. The salon is clean and they do a great job with manicures, pedicures, and gel manicures, i've tried them all! I have been here two times: The first time, I got a pedicure-- which was perfectly fine and only $25. Average pedi, nothing special, but neatly done and no complaints. The second time, I got my first ever gel manicure...and I was stunned when I left. The girl who did my nails (Lisa) clipped so much off of my cuticles that I was left with gashes, chunks of skin missing, and was bleeding on several fingers. What was worse was that she didn't even notice until I pointed out the blood on one finger. When I did, she grabbed the blue solution, splashed it on a cotton pad, and smashed it onto my finger--which stopped the bleeding, but made the pain worse. Maybe I should have gotten up and left at this point, but I am not the best at speaking up, and just wanted to get the job done and get out. The polish job itself was fine and lasted, but it took over a week for my fingers to heal, the skin to grow back, and the soreness to go away. I have heard good things from other people about the owner (Jenny) and some other technicians there (Joy), but I would recommend that anyone avoid Lisa at all costs. She was not gentle, and seemed to care less.Usually I don't make it a point to name drop, but I want to spare someone else the pain in the future. I am not from CT and I was looking for a good priced salon with a lot of reviews. I am happy to be adding this review after Esther and Grace did a fantastic job on my teenage cousin and I. Their gel manicure is $25 and compares very nicely to $35 and $40 gels at other salons in the area. I had one broken nail that I didn't want to cut and Esther gave me options on how we could fix it. It ended up being $5 to put a coat of strong gel on my broken nail which I was very happy to pay. Overall a great experience at Dash - my nails look fantastic! read more

Ive been here probably 8 times - the past 2 times I was pushed to try the UV gel on my nails which I dont like because the dryer usually gets too hot for me however I got it this time after my nail tech was persistent after I asked for acrylic 3 or 4 times. I got the UV french gel on my nails and it came out HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!! You can see where I needed a refill from before.
