Tweet is a community Staple, a solid location for brunch with friends or a quick lunch during a work day! I've visited so many times I've figured a review was past due, you can't go wrong ordering anything on their menu but the French toast for breakfast is a MUST TRY. Today I had the pleasure of finally trying their bacon Swiss quiche & my fiance had their Bacon Chicken Club with fries. They were both delicious with generous servings! Staff is always warm attention and can offer great suggestions. The location always feels like you're one of the family! It has a traditional feel of popping into your family's house for a bite to eat. It's a tight squeeze in the establishment & it's cash only so make sure you're prepped! If you haven't popped in yet, add tweet to your must try list you won't be disappointed

This restaurant felt right at home. As soon as we walked in, they offered a place for our huge winter coats. Immediately after being seated, our waiter was ready to take drinks. I got the ecstasy virgin Bloody Mary and HOT DAMN literally one of my favorite I've ever had. If you like spice, get it! Portions were huge, I got country Benedict. The biscuit was fluffy, the sausage patty was thicc and a perfect poached egg. I was very happy! Hers was honestly slightly more delicious because the hollandaise was amazing. Our friends got the famous corned beef hash and it's sooooOOOooo good. Unlike most corn beef hashes I've experienced. The one smoll downfall was the corn arepas as they were like savory pancakes and not exactly what we expected. The restaurant itself is kitschy and cute. Even saw a famous Chicago drag star there, so you know it's good!

This is a great place to get brunch with friends! Everyone really enjoyed their food and it came out quickly. There is a large menu to choose from but I got the Corned Beef Hash & Eggs and would highly recommend, it was delicious!!!

This place is cash only. I was walking by and wondering what was going on. I came here to meet a friend and the food was affordable and good. I got the corned beef hash with scrambled eggs and texas toast. The texas toast is amazing and the food was good. They were attentive and a good place for a date.

Here we go... The ambience was warm, cute and cozy. They give you a little slice of cake as a starter. Bring cash! The cheese curds are made with love as is the rest of the food and the service (S/O to Lucky!). The amount of hash brown is just right, not too much, not too little and just the right amount of crisp. The omelette was divine, it was like biting into what happiness would feel like it it were edible and the taste gave me tears of joy. Highly recommend this wonderful institution. Got it? Good.

Perfect place for brunch. Patio at the back is only open on weekends. Patio in the front is open but they do warn about bees. Complimentary cake is served as we sat down. Had the classic breakfast with a choice of tomatoes and fruit cup. The chicken sausage was good. Only con: my eggs and chicken sausage were a little too oily and greasy. It's a cash only establishment (there is an ATM inside)

Yes. Eat here. Had a party of 5, and was able to get promptly seated around 11am on a Friday. Food was excellent. Staff was kind and prompt. The vibe was happy and energetic for a nice brunch buzz. It was full, without being crowded. I love tweet and will come back!! Cash only!!!

    Breakfast burrito & Chilaquiles

I've been living in Uptown for the past year and a half and have been meaning to come here, however I don't often eat out for breakfast food so I wasn't necessarily in a rush to come here either. My friend and I went for a coffee and long walk, and then walked by here while we were hungry so we decided we should stop and try. She said she's been there once before and liked it so I had high hopes. Long story short - we were disappointed. She ordered the chilaquiles red salsa and I got the breakfast burrito (meat lovers option with chorizo, bacon, etc). We both found out food to be lacking flavor. It just straight up was just not that good! Maybe we ordered the wrong things? I'm not sure! While our server was friendly, she forgot to bring us our check after we asked for it, and then saw us again and said she'd be back with it and then disappeared for like 10 minutes! We weren't in a hurry, but we also were ready to leave so that was a little annoying. Lastly, they are cash only which in my opinion is outdated. We did not have cash on hand nor realized they were cash only so we had to use the ATM in the next room... which I absolutely hate doing because no one likes getting charged to take your own money out. Anyways, not sure if I'll return any time soon, but the service and ambiance is nice.

Came by again and had an excellent breakfast with my grandson. I had the country benedict. A huge meal with two perfectly poached eggs over two large sausage patties and two half a biscuits and covered with sausage gravy. I had to have their hash browns. The portion size is really large. It comes with a generous cup of assorted fruit. My GS had the arepas. They were huge but a bit too dry. for him. I forgot it's cash only. luckily I had enough. I wish the coffee was more robust.

Love this place so much!!! As soon as you enter, you get seated with some homemade pastry for free which is always delicious and they even have vegan ones! The food is amazing and so is the staff. So many vegan options. In a cute area in uptown. Love the old school diner vibe. Cash only though! But atm on site. Nice little patio too

    Vegetarian Biscuits & Gravy

I'm in love with this place! I will note - they are cash only but have an ATM inside the restaurant. We were caught a lil off guard by this but that is our fault for not checking beforehand. When they seat you, they give you a free piece of cinnamon coffee cake which is delicious. Their menu is large and there's many vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options. I can't eat meat, so this was especially nice for me. I got the vegetarian biscuits and gravy which was very heavy but very delicious. I got it thinking I'd need a side to fill me up but nope. The biscuits and gravy would've been enough. I would definitely get it again. My bf got the French toast with a side of eggs and sausage and also regretted getting the sides because he said the French toast was awesome but very filling. He's a big eater, so I was shocked. Not a bad problem to have though! Service was good and we were pleasantly surprised they were able to seat us immediately at noon on a Saturday. They have both an outdoor patio and an indoor space with a neat ambiance. Would definitely recommend!!!

There is outdoor seating under a pergola lined with semi-private planters, while the inside features a bar, high tops, low tops, and large booths. The music was upbeat, giving the space an elevated lounge vibe that pairs really well with the upholstered booths and vintage industrial design. I ordered the Wolf Burger, which is a whopping three-patty burger. That first bite was juicy and pure bliss--a total explosion of great flavors. It was a little messy (like all burgers with an egg), but the extra liquid was perfect for balancing the density of such a meaty burger. The soft bun soaked in a lot of those juices with each bite, intensifying the flavor as I ate more. The fries were thin and on the greasier side--not my personal favorite, but they worked alright as a vehicle for the sauce. Speaking of which, the chili aioli served with the fries was fantastic. We also got the mac and cheese, which hit a great balance between rich and creamy without feeling excessively wet. The boat it came in was a bit small, making it a little messy to scoop out with the serving spoon, but it was soooo good. Overall, it is absolutely a fantastic neighborhood place for comfort food and drinks with friends in a great space!

My friend said the pasta carbonara was amazing, and I went for the fish and chips (which is one of my favorite things to order and compare). The fish was done perfectly with an incredibly crispy batter, and the chips matched the amazing fries they have at Little Bad Wolf - crispy, slightly charred, and soft in the middle. Both the fish and chips were aggressively seasoned (which I like, but some may find it salty). The "tarter sauce" appeared to be a tarragon cream of some kind. Nice, but not really tarter sauce. And the small serving of cabbage/apple coleslaw was inoffensive and better than most places. I'll definitely be back.

Twenty years later, he did it again. I made sure to take pictures because hopefully I can post them! I had the Halibut Scottato, and it was outstanding. My daughter had the Aleppo Chicken. I rarely eat chicken, but hers looked so good I had to have a bite. Excellent. Then there was the focaccia bread with this special oil. Oh. My. Goodness. It was so good that my daughter was hoping her entrée would hurry up and come because she wanted that bread all to herself! She kept talking about how good it was in her Oprah voice: "I LOVE BREAD!" He was friendly and nice and our wait time was perfect. We ordered 3 small plates: Cheese Plate, Grilled Shrimp, and Tuna Tartare. They were all good. Grilled Shrimp and Tuna Tartare had enough spice for my boyfriend and me. The cheese plate was yummy too. 3 different types of cheese, with honey, jam, candied beets, and peppers. And for dessert we had Crème Brûlée made with soy milk custard, chocolate, black sesame, and strawberry. It was different in a good way. After we sit down, waitress comes with paper menus and one of them is all wrinkled ( no attention to details here) but ok not a biggie. She then gives us a smaller menu with the "Special of the day" which was Branzino BUT she said to us that they only have one so if we want it we should tell her right away ( so two things here; one, we are the only ones in the place but two, how is this a special and you only have 1????) so this isn't a special, this is a leftover ... obviously that's not the route we were to take. Ok so we take a look the menu, ordered some drinks that were good and when she gets back we ordered the tuna tartare, but she says: we are sold out ( at this point there's only one more couple in the place- and remember we were the first ones ... what do you mean you sold out, you mean you didn't even buy/prep this dish for the day ... so we decided no appetizers then and went straight to the main course. So I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and the sink is clogged ( I have phobia to clogged sinks, they are disgusting) but whatever. Food came after 40 minutes ( do I have to remind you we were the first ones and only one more table was filled at that point ?) Fries however were delicious and my husband and I said that would be the only reason for us to come back. Fries with truffle and mayo ..

Then I had a smash burger - it was good, but I forgot I am not a fan of American cheese which made the burger...I don't know, creamy? The burger itself was good. When you first walk in, you have to show your ID since this is an adults-only bar establishment. (1) You can then choose to sit in the front bar area, if you want a full menu, but use the bar for ordering service. (2) If you keep walking through the front bar area, you reach the host stand at the top of the ramp. This is where you can put your name in to sit in the main dining room, upstairs, or outside. (3) However, you can also walk through to the left of the host stand to another bar area that has full menus, but bar service for ordering. This is our preferred spot because we can often find a seat and order with the bar. Do note that, during busy times, part of this bar area is managed by the host stand and will be labeled as such. The extensive beer menu is our favorite. We have our favorite food items, so all our decision making revolves around which beer we will get. They always have a bit of everything style-wise, from all over the world, but with a local-brewery focus. Seasonal emphasis is also taken into consideration when they curate the beer list. It is always rotating and we love it! Beers are served in the recommended glasses from the breweries. It's a great drinking experience from start to finish! Our food orders are eternally set: I get the Nueske Ham sandwich with fries and aioli. My husband gets the Reuben sandwich with fries and aioli. This meal is so perfect we'll probably never get anything different, despite the menu being delicious across the board. The wildest we get is sometimes splitting the two sandwiches. No reason to mess with a good thing! Other notable great things about Hopleaf: (1) Kind, knowledgeable, and professional staff. (2) Reasonable prices for high quality and great variety products. (3) Clean Belgian Bar decor/vibe with lots of space for folks to enjoy their time. (4) They are open late and serve food late. Thank you for being an amazing local spot, Hopleaf! We'll see you soon!
