It was a very long drive of about 30 min from my place. I got there right before they were supposed to open, before 11am. I had to wait another 25 minutes before the 'cashier' woman shows up to collect the payment. the chef Winston was there and he promised it was going to be fine. well after nearly an hour of waiting, I got the food and paid $25.08 for the meal. it was costly but I figure if the food is good I will be happy. unfortunately the portion was very tiny, with small pieces of oxtails and barely enough for even a lunch portion. where I come from in bronx, Brooklyn NY, you can get at least double the portion for the same price. worst of all, the customer service attitude from the lady was not friendly at all . I asked nicely for a receipt after the transaction, the receipt got printed, and she started to play with her IPAD, I didn't want to reach for the receipt printer myself, so I had to ask again, then she impatiently pulled out the receipt and handed it to me. the overall experience was not pleasant. Unfortunately based on my negative experience I cannot recommend anyone else to visit here. in today's economy, a qualified customer has many choices in the neighborhood to spend his/her hard earned money. this restaurant culture to me, does NOT believe in nor encourage and ensure customer satisfaction, courtesy, and loyalty. On a recommendation I drove 1hr and 15 minutes to get to this place. Upon entering a heavyset man with dreads was waking around behind the counter getting orders together. I was the only person at the counter and I stood there for five minutes before he even spoke to me. I ordered a curry goat from the ONLY menu they have which is a hand written and hanging on the wall. Since it was my first time there I asked what it comes with? To which the cashier replied, "what do you want?" I then tell him it's my first time here, so I don't know what the options are. He then asked me again, what I want. I finally just start to rattle off things I like. I tell him what I want he then asked if I want a side of plantain. And I tell him no, I just want a couple of slices, rice and peas vegetable. After this he finally tells me the order comes with two sides. I then had to ask him if rice and peas and vegetables are considered a side and he tells me yes. So, I decide against the plantain because the meal was already over $16. I thought about leaving after this interaction but I drove too far Basically this was the hardest order I have ever put in. He could've started with your meal comes with two sides and these are your options. Instead of me having to ask what my options are and him just asking me what I would like. The whole time he was dry and rude! Once I receive my food it was very lackluster. The goat was decent, not the best and not the worst. It was full of bones, and the curry was watery. This review is solely based on service. I went in there around 6PM on a Friday. It was very busy and they one lady at the register and she was busy laughing and joking with the customers, but couldn't focus to get the line down. She was very rude for the most part. There were approx 6 people in the line ahead of me and once she took the orders, people just waited and waited and she told them, she can't fix their food because she had to take customers orders. It seems like their needs to be more organization. One person taking orders and money and another person fixing food. Then after waiting about 30 minutes, she pretty much insulted the customers in line, telling them they look like a bunch a N**ggaz lined up to get on a jail bus. I left after that, not to mention it was hot inside even with the doors open on a cool October evening. So, I decide to give them another try the next day and call in an order. When I called, I got the same lady, who was rude as hell again. When I attempt to place my order, she rudely yells, I can't take your order, I have a line full of customers, then hangs up. I will not give them my money and the lady needs to learn some customer service skills and manners. You don't insult your customers and expect them to return. I don't care how good the food is. Guess I will never know....and maybe if she did her job, there wouldn't be a line and they could make more money with in store customers and call ins. read more

My husband called a couple of weeks ago to see if they had BBQ-he remembers this spot from way back in the day when it was just Gee's. Since BBQ was no longer part of the menu, we both had jerk chicken. We had it three times in a week. I experimented and also had the curry goat and oxtail. My husband strictly sticks with the jerk chicken. Oxtail and jerk chicken are my fave. The curry goat was good, but for my taste the curry was too overpowering. We have no complaints about the service. Was anyone jumping for joy when we walked in-no, but that is not required. We were greeted, our order taken, asked if we wanted anything else. I also asked for the juice from the oxtail over my rice and beans to spruce up the taste. They are a tad bland and dry. We both also very much enjoyed the cabbage with all the other veggies mixed in. We are both a fan of the rum and sweet potato cake. Did not have the coco bread. Yes, it is a tad pricey, but my husband managed to eat twice and mine lasted for 3 meals. So, the portions are large. While I did not observe anyone just running their hands under water, then with still wet and dripping hands handling the food, that is a total concern to me and I will watch out for that...but since I read that review, we have not been back. read more

Best Jamaican food I've had in DC thus far. I got the brown stew chicken, rice and peas, cabbage coco bread and a ginger beer. The chicken was so fresh and tender it came right off the bone and mixed in with the rice and peas. The cabbage was also really fresh and tasty and with their hot sauce it's even better. I'm a spicy food eater so believe me when I say that hot sauce is actually hot . My bf got the beef and chicken patty. He rates it a 4 out 5 stars.
