My mother's family is from Hawaii so I grew up eating food from the islands. I happen to love (and make a mean) Lau Lau. To do this you need a lot of fresh taro leaves. This is where Dat Moi comes into the picture. This is the only thing I have ever purchased there as it is very hard to source this main ingredient for the dish. Dat Moi has never disappointed me with their supply. The taro is VERY fresh and all of the family loves the Lau Lau that comes from them. The hard to find produce from many cultures can be found here as I have seen many different ethnicities shopping there every time I go.

Never knew about this place until now. Lots of ethnic stuff coming from Asia with several tea options, the Caribe with many seasonings we've never tried, and some from South America like instant coffee. Good option to get fresh oysters, clams and fish. Parking is tight, this place is the size of a convenience store so parking can be a hassle. We enjoy seeing new products and ideas from different countries and ethnic backgrounds. Service is good too, as we were walking without a basket or anything a lady came to offer me one as my hands started to get full. Cashier were nice too. We're definitely coming back for more !

This store is my go-to for fresh/frozen meat, seafood, produce! Parking is plenty full and cashiers are knowledgeable and very helpful especially when I pick my Balut and they always come up to me and assist me in picking the best ones in their trays of Balut for Boiling I love how they're on top of making sure everyone are served in the meat/seafood area by following their systematic queue! The store is not as big as the usual asian market that's why it's easier for me to find the products i am looking. gotta love the a store where it's diverse with friendly atmosphere. I Highly Recommend this store

What a great selection on Vietnamese, Asian, and Caribbean food stuff. Parking in the back can be tight on the weekends. Avoid the crowd and go during the week around noon.

Dat Moi has everything you need from fish, beef, pork, chicken, vegetables, exotic seasonings, and more. Service was very good and punctual. The prices were very reasonable, I got 5lbs of snow crab for about $80 along with 3lbs of shrimp for under $20. They have a lot of items that you won't find in normal grocery stores especially in LA so if you from out of town or just want to experience a lil piece of Caribbean culture you got to stop by Dat Mou

It's a very big store that somehow doesn't look as big from the outside, but there are so many things to highlight from here. We were in a city nearby but decided to stop by here because my friends wanted to buy some ingredients. This store was a delight for me as it was so big!!! My favorite section was the many Japanese merchandise of clothes, plushes, and desserts!!! It was super tempting to not buy something haha and I ended up grabbing the box of iconic mango ice cream popsicles!!! It was super yummy and was to my full liking. We ate it straight from the box because we didn't want it to melt in the car ride home. It was super refreshing and delicious. Other highlights was the hot foods bar and lots of Japanese beauty products.

The thing that's good about going to Tokyo central for premade sushi is that they make all their sushi fresh daily and what's not sold is marked down and got rid of before next day compared to other markets where they sell their sushi that's like 2-4 days old. They went viral for awhile for having a hot food bar, which looked like a buffet but in reality you grab what you want but it's $15.99 a pound. The pound adds up really quick and you end with paying like $30. The food isn't that great in the hot food bar in my option so I'd skip it. The market itself is very pricey it's not a cheap market. So if your planning on buying grocery your gonna pay high prices. I'd go here for a quick sushi roll or some mochi they sell a bag from Japan for $3.99 with red bean that's pretty good. One of my favorite food item is the umami chicken karage with rice that's pre packaged and if you can snag it while it's still hot that great. Its usually on a separate table on in the refrigerated section, It's the one with some teriyaki sauce over it, not the regular one. As you exit you can grab utensils, napkins, wasabi. ginger, soy sauce. Parking is a hit and miss, it's a popular market if you go there at lunch time it's packed or weekends. Personally I drop by to get a quick bite, sushi roll or chicken karage . They do have a food court that has a Japanese bakery, takoyaki , a katsu place. Upstairs they have a sushi bar which is unique I havnt tried it but seems a bit pricey but looks like quality. Looking for something Japanese in food wise, this would be one of the places to go to look for it. I don't know why it seems like every Asian market I've been to is so cramped and hardly any space when trying to get around with a cart. It's the same here.

Fish markets are a hidden gem that one usually finds in a certain type of city, away from the suburbs or more affluent and touristy areas. The best type of food, in my opinion, is simple food done expertly well, however my companion disagreed with me on this sunny Saturday afternoon, so we proceeded to present our points, which lasted a good hour and a half. By the end of our spirited discussion I was exhausted and hungry. I did not ask questions or for permission, hell I wasn't even listening to most of the conversation, I just instinctively drove to Bates Fish Market. In a city filled with Fish Markets, I've deduced that Bates is, pound for pound, the best fish market in the South Bay, and most of the locals would agree with me. Going to Bates is the epitome of simple food done expertly well, my apologizes for calling their food simple, seasoning is an art that not everyone is capable of pulling off successfully. Everything is good but I have a 'go to.' I always order the 3pc Seafood course that comes with 1 side but I pay more for 2 sides. Now, everyone has their favorite type of fish but I usually go with the Red Snapper along with a side of hush puppies and french fries. *Pro Tip* #1: Always, and I mean ALWAYS, ask for extra tartar sauce and hot sauce. Your meal will not be complete without it and if you don't ask you don't receive. By the end of our meal, I had at least shown my companion that there was another side to her argument, albeit I didn't end up changing her mind.
