So if smells like a tourist trap, barks like a tourist trap, and appears like a tourist trap. Then it's probably is! Look I would've given this place 3 stars, but the customer service and wait time was ridiculous. Hear me out, this is my experience from last Saturday. So first it can be challenging to find this place, since the pier has so many level to it. Look for the elevators. When you get there, for the first time, you see a main line, well for what? Then you see other lines, well for what? Then you see an oyster line, oh. In order to determine what each line is for, you have to do independent research. From whom? Well the employee, who do not show case any form of customer service. There were so many people lost and confused. To break it down, each "Order Here" has their own area of what can be ordered by the pound and/or cooked. So not all lines are equal. There is a crab line, seafood boil/pre-seasoned seafood, oyster, clams, I think I saw fish and fried platters, which was the longest. So after much deliberation, an employee managed to wrangle the customers to form a line. Although his mannerism seems like I'm just done with this place. One might consider ropes to further avoid these mundane confusions... I got Ana's seafood boil mix, $99. It came with a lobster, dungeoness crab, peeled shrimp, clams, sausage and potatoes. The employee told me about 10 mins. I'm like okaaaay, only 10? I walked to their souvenir shop, nothing crazy or must haves. Just cheap Chinese things with their name printed on. I return in 10 minutes. The guy doing prepping/expediting the pick order was in a frantic state. Older white male, white mustache. He was running around, mixing orders up, couldn't even tell what customers had what. The employee that wrangling folks came to help him collect himself. So 10 minutes wait turns to 15, 20, then 30 minutes. I had 2 other employees check up on my order, they said it's not ready. Okay. Finally about 35 minutes it's ready. He didn't even call out my order, I had to wave my ticket. The first rule of speed of service, never over sell the time. If it's gonnabe 30 mins plus, say 40 mins, gimme a bs reason, short handed, etc, I don't care!But why would you tell me it'll be 10 mins?! So finally got the food. Flavor was pretty good. Lobster, was okay. I wished the shrimp had the head on. Clams were big. Sausage was good. Potato seemed like the diced ones from a can, they were so small. The crab, however, is the driest. Yep, for a place that exclaims "Quality Seafood," it was kind've of a let down. They taste like the bottom batch of the crab at Las Vegas buffet. You know the batch that sits on the bottom, they don't ever rotate because the employees don't care. So it's just marinating in its own dry filth. The crab was so dry I could put that in an Advil bottle instead of cotton. So now if you ask me, would I come back? Maybe, just maybe. Anytime soon? Nah, not right now. Be sure to order a couple of these bad boys during happy hour for $5 each. - Clam Chowder [8.3/10]: This place hits the mark on the texture of a classic chowder. Hands down the best fresh seafood place with reasonable prices in California! You have to visit if you're in the area, better than piers in Santa Barbara and San Diego and any in the bay area. They cook all the seafood for you without extra charge. They have any seafood you can think of from crabs to oysters to lobster and sea urchin! Also have the classic fish and chips / paella / steamed clams / mussels. Lots of space to sit and eat, parking is very easy at the pier. Only a few dollars for each hour. I highly recommend the Santa Barbara Female Crabs for 9.99/lb. It frequently comes with crab roe, and the meat is sweeter than the dungeness crab! You can rent hammers for peeling crab and get your money back if you return it. The sea urchins are HUGE and so delicious. The freshest ones you can find. You actually pick the seafood and they will cook it for you, steamed, grilled or even sashimi or ceviche style plates at your service. Price varies depending on the type of seafood and weight, so I chose the clams, steamed fresh and served with a tuna ceviche. Wow, it does makes you feel like you're in the middle of the sea. I had swordfish grilled and showered with fresh lemon and bam, this was glorious to the roof, it tasted like butter running through your throat. I also had the ceviche tuna and shrimp and whoa, the seasoning made it taste like cotton sugar, the one that's rolled into a stick sold at carnivals and fairs? I had a light beer and my Labor Day has never been the same. Parking is about $2 an hour and there's lot of place to see after your dinner. Came with my friend and ordered the Lobster Lovers Bucket just in time before lobster fest ended. Such a good deal and already planning my visit during next year's lobster fest! Around a 40 minute wait even on a Monday night. Lobster Lovers Bucket: 5/5. 2 large lobsters, 1lb shrimp, 2 large corn on the cobs, potatoes, chicken andouille sausages, and a huge piece of garlic bread, all for $90 (without tax). This includes a $4 deposit for the bucket that you will get back if you return the bucket. Rice isn't included, I just brought my own but we didn't even end up touching it! The sauce looked watered down, but the flavor was definitely there! The garlic butter sauce is not included, but it's a must order cuz it's one of the best I've ever had. I haven't had it straight in the shell so this was definitely a place to do that at. After ordering, it was about a 10-20 minute wait to get our order but it was worth it. We were in town for a friend's baby shower and, after a beach day, they recommended this spot as the go-to place for seafood at Redondo Beach. The seafood itself was tasty (I've had better), but the wait was frustrating. I also tried the fish ceviche, which was fresh and delicious, definitely a highlight. The environment was jam-packed, with no real seating available. We had to send people from our group to look for tables and stand near ones that looked close to being finished, just to grab a spot. It added even more stress to the overall experience. The service experience could use some improvement as well. Most of the time was spent standing by the pickup counter, straining to hear whether our number had been called. One group ahead of me waited nearly an hour; thankfully, my order came out in about 30 minutes, which matched the estimate on my receipt. Would I come back? Possibly, but only on a weekday to see if the experience is better. As for a first impression, it left a lot to be desired. It is located right on the Redondo Beach Pier, it's a lively open-air seafood market where you can handpick your own seafood and have it freshly cooked to order. The atmosphere is casual, and can get super crowded during peak hours. It's not fancy dining. You walk up to the counters, choose your seafood (crabs, lobsters, shrimp, oysters, clams, and more), pay by the pound, and they'll steam or grill it for you right there. There's usually about a 15-20 minute wait for the food to come out. You can also grab fried seafood favorites like calamari, clam chowder, and fish and chips, plus beer, wine, and micheladas from their drink stands. You can also purchase hot butter and a crab cracker at the drink stand in which you'll get your money back once it is returned. The food is always fresh and we always get the crab, clam chowder, fried shrimp, and clam strips. This time around we also purchased the calamari and french fries, but I think we can do without these the next time. I did not like the coating on the calamari and the fries were really plain. Everything else was great. Seating is first-come, first-serve at the outdoor tables nearby, so it's best to come early or during off-peak times for a good spot. It's super family-friendly and great for groups who don't mind getting messy. Parking is easiest in the Redondo Beach Pier parking structure, which offers quick access and just a short walk down to the market. Tip: Bring wet wipes and hand sanitizer - between cracking crab shells and peeling shrimp, your hands will definitely need it! After walking on the beach in Redondo Beach, we stopped for lunch at the pier. It was a beautiful, sunny day to eat on the pier. The food today was on point. The clam chowder was hot, a clam on every spoon. The cream based soup was not too thick or watered down. It had a good flavor. The fish n chips was lightly battered, a crunch to the bite, the fish tasted fresh, not frozen. You can order any fish and have cooked in batter or grilled.I haven't tried this yet but will try it in the future The seating is outdoors and in the shade.They will call your name and you have to pick up your food. The seating area was clean. They are no restrooms on the premise. The nearest restrooms are about a 10 minute walk. read more

The ordering and pickup system at the fried‑food section on far side by parking garage of Quality Seafood is extremely disorganized. Staff don't communicate, charges get mixed up, and the wait times are unreasonable. For a tourist-heavy spot where people are constantly visiting from out of state, the customer service should be much better. I should've checked the reviews before coming. We usually go to Pacific Fish Center & Restaurant on the pier -- better view, better service, and a smoother experience -- but decided to try something new with more options. That was a mistake. I've had far better experiences at the fresh crab and oyster bar in the same building. They were a bit cold at first but took care of our order properly. The fried-food section, however, is not worth the frustration or the price. Customer service truly goes a long way. read more

Well for have the word Quality in your name, doesn't equal quality food. Although the customer service was excellent, the food was not. I decided on poké and a cup of lobster bisque for lunch. The three things I was given: a cup of mushy white rice, a cup of lobster flavored bisque (zero chunks of lobster), and a cup of poké (most of it looked fresh). I've never, in my life, ordered lobster bisque that had no lobster in it talk about a massive let down. I can only imagine what the clam chowder would have been like.....(zero stars for this) The poké had nice flavor, and texture but looked like older chuncks were mixed with fresher chunks. Still, it was better than I expected it to be (3 ) The white rice.... soggy, mushy, no flavor. Hopefully the steamed crab, lobster, shrimp were better, and maybe, next time I ride through, I will try the crab boil....but I'm hesitant to pay that kind of money for the possibility of low quality flavor. As for the ambiance, there are plenty of outdoor covered seating, but the tables were dirty and covered in food particles from prior diners. So basically, thw customer service was great but thw food was mediocre at best...and that makes me sad. read more
