I came in to get my acrylic nails removed but left halfway through the service. I wanted to get a manicure after having my set removed. They started filing my nails to paint over the acrylic that was still on my nail so I asked them to remove all of the acrylic nail but I ended up leaving in the middle of them filing because my nails were getting extremely thin and hurting. I am giving them the benefit of the doubt that they just are not very familiar with acrylic since what I saw online shows that they do gel X and other manicures. The people were extremely nice and patient but I do not know if I would return. read more

We had an appointment scheduled, and sent in inspo pictures before hand. Parking there was a little tricky because it is street parking. I feel that everything went very well. Definitely have to be prepared to spend some time. We had our nails done by Laysa and Honomi and they both did an incredible job. I don't usually write reviews, but I feel it's important to share this experience so others can make an informed decision. I had an appointment at this salon for my birthday, something I was genuinely excited about. Unfortunately, it turned into one of the most frustrating and disappointing experiences I've ever had. I arrived on time for my 9:00 AM appointment--actually, I was there at 8:58. The technician assigned to me, Arina, didn't even show up until 9:15, and didn't begin working on my nails until around 9:30. From the beginning, she was rough and careless--she cut my cuticles multiple times, leaving my fingers sore and irritated. When she applied the gel, I noticed immediately that it was not the color I had asked for. I pointed it out, but instead of taking responsibility, she said, "I don't know," and offered to start over--but by then I had already been there for over an hour and a half. I felt like I had no good option, so I told her to just finish. Once done, my nails were thick, uneven, the wrong shape, and the wrong color. On top of that, my fingers were already starting to hurt. When I paid, the owner said I could come back later or the next day to have them fixed, but I told her I didn't have time. Later that day, my fingers began to itch and burn, and I had to reach out to request a refund and have the nails removed. When I returned the next morning, they had Arina--the same technician--remove them. She was rough again, rushed the process, and caused even more pain. I asked her to be gentle, but it didn't seem to matter. This salon is neglectful and unprofessional. Good reviews aside, no one should leave a nail appointment feeling hurt, frustrated, and worse than when they arrived. I gave them a chance despite the mixed reviews, but I regret it deeply. This is one of those situations where you really want to like the salon and keep ignoring the red flags because you don't have other good options. I saw a tik tok about it and I like supporting small women owned businesses. Kat, the owner, seemed super passionate and involved. Texting to schedule my appointments was easy. I even brought a friend for her birthday, and she had a nightmare experience with getting cut and bleeding. I was really embarrassed. The issue is their subpar work. Almost every time, I've gotten weirdly shaped nails that are really uneven. What's crazy about that is that the Gel x nails are pre made. Meaning it's hard to mess the shape up. The first time it happened they made it easy for me to come back to fix. I texted and they got me in so I thought I'd try it again. However, it costed me time and money. The second time was even worse and it looked like I needed a fill. So I texted again making it clear that the shape, the space, and the color were issues for me. They were so lazy and just filed my nails down instead of redoing them. When I brought up the color change they gave me a hard time and tried to make me pay for that. I had to reiterate that the situation was an inconvenience to me and basic nails ended up costing me so much more due to transportation. They didn't like that. Today, they canceled my appointment because I wanted to do a French tip with soft gel and they felt like it would not look how I wanted it to ( I sent an inspo pic). So, I said I would just do a single color. They didn't offer me other options and said that the staff had a rough time previously and that they didn't want to do it, I could understand if the issues I had were minor and I was just coming back to get my nails redone but as you can see in the photos that isn't the case. I think if you like a design or if you don't care about shape this is the place for you. But if you want quality this is not it. I'm going to try Zorina nails for a Russian mani. read more

DAT nail salon is my new go to spot. Honestly, it's been so difficult finding a nail place that meets all my needs. I've had a hard time finding a place that respects my time, does a clean and concise manicure, knows how to create really great nail art and doesn't leave my pockets empty. I knew the minute I had to choose what kind of manicure I wanted/if I wanted gel with art, more complicated art or acrylics and so forth, I knew they cared about how much time was dedicated to a customer and they were also letting the clients know they respected everyone's time. I had to log on to their website and sign up for my appt and indicate which service I wanted. They ask us to text them some time before the appt the nail art we want so they are prepared. I arrived about 10 mins early because they asked me to do so so they could prep my nails since I still had gel on. They sat everyone down who had an appt at 5pm at or around 5pm and there was another customer there who had signed up for one of the gel services but changed her mind to acrylic. The worker told her she could not do aryclic because she hadn't allotted the time and would have to wait for next time. Anyways, they worked very well and quickly through the one hour and 10 mins I was there, their manicure was clean and I absolutely loved my nail art. I made and appointment this past weekend at DAT Nail Salon per recommendation from my friend and I am so happy I did! I had a fantastic and peaceful experience getting a mani and pedi (something I haven't treated myself to in a long time). When I entered I picked out my color from the severs options they have including new colors for the fall season. I ended up choosing a blue/gray from the new fall colors for the bio seaweed gel mani and pedi. I was then offered water, tea or champagne to sip on while I was there. The aestheticians who did my nails were quick but paid attention to all the details and made sure they looked perfect! They also spent a lot of time exfoliating and massaging the lotion in post-exfoliation, which I loved! I've seen them do a variety of nail art and unique designs too. The staff here is very kind and they do a great job with nail designs. I've been here 4 times and I have always had an issue with the wait if I'm not the first appointment in the morning. One time I waited 46 minutes at the chair before someone came over to do my nails. There's a huge emphasis on being 10 minutes early to your appointment, which I kept following, so it's super frustrating when you come in early and have to wait an additional hour. It's also problematic when I have a busy schedule, or come in mid-day on a work day and expect to be out in an hour and it instead takes 2+ I think it would help their business to add half-hour appointments since they only have them bookable by the hour (i.e. offering 1:30pm, 2:30pm and not just 1pm, 2pm) read more

I made appointments for 2 Russian manicures and 2 pedicures . And added builder gel to one appointment. The Russian manicures were slated to be an hr and a half of service they finished in 40 min each nail . The builder gel was very thick didn't file it down nothing so I told them I didn't want it because it didn't make sense to get bad service after you watched . They rushed my friend to start her pedicure and put 3 layers of gel on top of the 2 layers of builder plus 2 layers of clear coat so she had bulky nails. For both manicure the lady used a soft nail filer so they were not square nor shaped good . I came in here with long natural nails by time I left I have badly shaped short nails. The pedicure wasn't good. This is my first time in San Fran and honestly being here shows the natives don't know quality service . 240 for me and my friend wasn't worth it . But I wouldn't recommend, I'm going to get my nails re done else where . They were nice and it was a clean place . Offered us champagne and chocolates upon arrival . Which was nice but it's a distraction from the lack luster quality of work The worse part about it is on the way out the lady in charge acknowledged that my friends builder wasn't done properly even though she was the one who add a million layers of gel polish on top of the bad builder. I've never been so relaxed at a nail salon. We were greeted with such a big smile and warm welcome. The whole salon was quiet and had zen music playing. I feel like typically there's no music at a nail salon place. There's always talking, some form of yelling, and chaos especially the ones in the city. We were given plenty of time to pick our colors for a regular gel manicure and a regular pedicure. We were led to our seats which were these beautiful white comfy chairs to sit in. The place was so beautiful with all the same chairs, same style, and a white theme which made it all look so clean and put together. We were offered water, tea, or champagne with some chocolate. They were very gentle with the whole process and did such a thorough job with the pedicure and I loved how it turned out. Its been 3 weeks and it still looks pretty good and new. (Others have mentioned waiting times; unfortunately the only real advice I can give is to try for one of the first appointments of the day so there's no one ahead of you.) The actual quality of the Russian manicure was great. My cuticles were completely gone and I liked the shape they gave my nail but the quality of the Gel Polish was absolutely terrible. After explicitly telling Kat that I don't like thick gel nails she proceeded to completely ignore me, text the whole time during my appointment and leave my nails looking completely thick, chunky, and uneven. Second time I've been to this salon. First time I got a Russian manaicure with Kat who I believe is the owner and had a wonderful experience. This morning I had my second appointment, (not with Kat) 10 am scheduled for a Russian gel manicure for $90 and I'm extremely disappointed. For starters I have gel all over my cuticles and around the edges of my fingers on pretty much every single finger, the nails are also super super thick with the amount of product she put on and it's uneven. I'm normally not outspoken and would have just gone quiet home and sad but I spoke up, I told her I wasn't happy with how the gel was all over the cuticles and she told me "there was nothing she could do and it was just come off eventually" which I replied that paying $90 specifically to get my cuticles looking nice and not being happy is a lot of money. She shrugged and didn't offer a solution, didn't offer to fix them, to file them, to try and take some of the polish off. Nothing. Instead she got mad at me and said I should have "spoken up earlier" that if I was unhappy with the uneven shape or how thick they were "that she asked me two times if I liked the shape and I should have said something then". I understand her getting defensive of her work but I think it's also understandable to be upset with paying $90 and not being happy and simply asking what we can do. She offered no solutions, took pictures on her phone for the owner and told me to pay. She walked me up to the front desk and then immediately walked away to another client, she didn't even say anything or even ensured I payed which I thought to be just really poor customer service. I did pay, and now I'm at home upset for the events I have this week and again out $90. I'm disappointed in this salon especially since so many people have raved about the quality of work and customer service. This also being my second experience with the salon was disappointing.
