Data Doctors have done it again!! I was having problems with connecting to my internet. It was connected; it would disconnect; over and over again. I had taken my ThinkPad into see if it was something with my computer; but it passed with flying colors. COX was no help at all. Finally I scheduled a Data Doctors' technician to come to my house and he checked everything; found the problem; fixed the problem. It's been weeks. Everything is working great! I am revising my prior positive review to a one-star. I have worked with this company for years. I had their monthly service plan for about $25/month. Since I bought a new computer under warranty I saw no further need to continue this plan. I called to cancel and only keep my Trend Micro security charge. I noticed on a credit card statement that I was charged for two months after I cancelled. I disputed the charge that was reviewed with the owner (corporate) and they would not correct the error. I am 100% sure that I cancelled via phone to one of the employees! Will never recommend this company again. Update: I just canceled my Trend Micro Internet Security I took out with Data Docs. I was paying $83.40/year. Went to Trend Micro directly and now I have the same security but for (5) devices rather than (1) and I'm paying $99 for two years! They even did an easy remote uninstall/install new program! read more

If you love wearing masks after being vaccinated or recovered from Covid, you'll love this place. If you don't like wearing masks, this place is not for you. They would not service my computer unless I masked up. The location on higley serves everyone equally. * response - yea, you're right. Masks have been incredibly effective at protecting people everywhere it's been mandated. Now that most people are fully vaccinated with an effective vaccine, everyone dropping off a computer must inconveniently mask up to demonstrate how effective the vaccines are. I have been back to Data Doctors a few times since my original review. Each time I have seen Jon and Jon. Both are really nice and have taken care of me and my computer. This last time I took in my MacBook Pro 2013 just to make sure it was still working good. Well, after about a half day they called and said they discovered my computer battery was bulging. They explained what was going on and gave me several options. I decided to have the battery replaced. So they ordered the battery and within 2 days I had my computer fixed and it was working great. These guys are so great! They probably saved me a few thousand dollars by discovering the bad battery!! Not to mention possibly a fire if the battery had gotten any worse!! Do not take your electronics here, this location is 100% price gouging under the guise of you're paying for their time. I was in telecommunications for 13 years, 7 in supervision. I trained technicians to troubleshoot all data/phone/cable issues. I have a BS in technical managment and was an eletronics bench technician for years. So I speak from personal and professional experience. I called for an estimate to replace 2 missing screws and tighten 3 more loose screws on the bottom of my HP laptop with some Loctite, $59.99 was his answer. I proceeded to tell him he was ripping people off and he raised his voice at me for pointing that out, so I hung up. Laptop screws on a technician's bench are a dime a dozen, expendable items that they drop and use everyday, and they are pretty standard. HP is an extremely common brand, not to mention, any decent tech always has expendable supplies at his/her bench. I always had plenty of expendable supplies at my desk when I was a technician, next to my soldering supplies, testing equipment, and Loctite all around. This is a 10 minute job with 20 cents of expendable supplies than should be a $10 repair, a $10 repair for 10 minutes equates to $60 an hour, a dollar a minute, plenty of profit. But at $59.99 for such a minor repair, their time here must be gold, attorney's don't charge this much, it's outrageous. read more

First was given a bad estimate for work, which was increased by $40 after they started work to replace a keyboard. Second, when I got it back the mic was missing and removed as a device. This laptop has an onboard mic. Called to report the problem and was called a liar, that my laptop did NOT have a mic at all. Customer service can be friendly or rude depending on their mood. I dropped my laptop off when I could not get it to power on. I asked them to see if they could access the data from the hard disk and transfer it to another source so I could save a bunch of files. (The laptop would not power on and had been idle for over six months following a fire at our home.) I got a call very early Monday morning telling me they could not get any data off the drive, but would send it to their lab and try again there for more money. I said no. I purchased a SATA hard drive adapter from Amazon for about $8, removed the hard disk (following instructions on youtube), and connected the power and interface cables. The drive spun right up, and I was able to save all those files and the hours of work I had invested in them. Data Doctors had removed the hard drive, but must not have connected it properly. Save your money and try it yourself first. read more

I've been coming to this location for years. In the beginning, their staff had hardly any turnover so it felt like a mom-and-pop type of service. It was great! Nowadays, the technical service is fine but the customer service is not as great. Every time I come in the staff has turned over. This is a bit concerning because they don't know the history of my computer problems like the same tech would. The people are nice enough but it definitely feels more corporate. It has lost it's personal-feel. I have been a part of their Quality Care program which was beneficial when I owned my own business and had multiple computers with multiple users. Today, I don't need the Quality Care, though they don't let you cancel it without a long sales pitch to keep it. The cost of repair can add up so it would benefit you to check for online solutions before coming in, especially for software problems. I've never come in for a software problem. Use the numerous online tech support for that. It's free. But for hardware issues, Data Doctors is a trusted source. Be patient. You won't get your computer back for several days at times. And before that, you may not know what the problem even is for 24 hours. Bottom line: getting my hardware issues resolved by Data Doctors has saved me time and money because it extended the life of my computer, parts were cheaper than a new computer (this is not always the case), and they can transfer data between hard drives. read more

On September 4th I went and purchased an adapter for our HP Laptop because the last one was getting hot and quit working. I asked them what was the best cord to get and they gave me an adapter and said that it would work for $76.65. I got it home and it didn't work so I tried to return it with the receipt. I was told I couldn't return it even though it had only been a couple of days and because I followed their advice. Now I am stuck with a cord I don't need and down $76 bucks! Not sure they understand the term customer service. read more

I had an emergency with my laptop computer the other day and John and Calvin at the Gilbert location did a great job of taking care of me immediately. At most computer stores you have to leave it for a long time before you get it back they were able to do it while I was standing there and waited it was immediate service now I feel spoiled. Very pleased with this Data Doctor's location. They first helped me get rid of viruses that snuck through my anti-virus software. They didn't try to sell me new software products when my present ones are the best available. Since I use the internet extensively, I often create problems for myself. I decided to sign up for a yearly contract at a very reasonable rate. DD techs have been more than generous with their time to solve problems with slow loading of programs. (Turns out the problem is a particular website server not my computer or my internet connection.) read more

I thought I needed a new fan in my desktop. Their tech thought it was the power supply. Ok, I can accept that it's the power supply. Can they fix the power supply? NO. They have to run a $59 diagnostic first that takes 24 hours. I asked if they could just fix the power supply. Nope. It is "store policy" that they have to run the diagnostic. What a scam. read more

Over all it was all negative from the beginning to the end. The staff was full of know it all's who just wants to take your money and run. I Took my lap top in to get repairs on 5/4/16 i paid the $60 fee for evaluation i got a call back (couple days later)and was told there was nothing wrong with my unit as far as my browser but if i paid them $30 they can un install chromium (it was corrupt) and could cause the problem i was experiencing. So i said ok to that repair (i could of un installed it) I stopped in to see if my unit was ready today 5/10/16 (no one called letting me know it was ready) I took it home and went online and with in 4 min firefox crashed. I called the store and the kid told me for $249.00 it can be fixed.........Said it needs a fresh install of windows 10 (just installed windows 10 3 weeks prior to the repair for free) So be aware of Data Doctors Up date 5/11/16 I went online and found out you can re install the previous version of windows or do a pc clean (re fresh) just by holding down the shift key and restarting the unit if your not worried about certain programs due to having the license key or the disc do a full wipe or click just remove my files it took about 4 hours to do so but i have been on the said laptop all morning and my browser (firefox) is running awesome with no money out of my pocket.
