John Cloud diagnosed a failed memory stick (oh no! they cost so much now!). I supplied an "extra" memory stick from one of the other computers at our church and John continued the repair diagnosing and fixing some particularly nasty software errors that had resulted from the initial hardware failure. All of our installed software now works reliably again! Great job! The machine was back in service on March 5 for a very reasonable repair cost! Would I hire them again? You bet, but I recommend that you have them come in on a day that you have a flexible schedule, because your own time pressures are demonstrably unimportant to them.

She was very nice and set me up with an appointment for Thursday with a 1 hour arrival window. As a business owner, I understand that because some problems take longer than expected, scheduling service calls isn't an exact science. The most important thing is communication. James ended up running a little late but he handled it perfectly. He called me with 10 minutes left in the window to apologize and let me know he would be a few minutes late, which he was (3 minutes). In my experience, if someone is 3 minutes late they consider that on time and they certainly wouldn't call and give a heads up. As far as the service call goes, not only did he get my new computer set up, he figured out what was wrong with the old one and got it running again. Ending up with 2 working computers never entered my mind as an option. James made sure that he took care of everything I needed and helped me with a few things I didn't know that I needed. It's been a while since I've had a set IT resource so it was very helpful to talk with James about the other services he could help me with in the future. I will definitely call Nerds and James the next time I need IT help.

The Genius Bar at Apple told me it could not be repaired and I would need to replace the Logic Board for $850 or "just buy a new one." A local (Orange County) 3rd party repair shop, after having it for a week, told me it couldn't be repaired. I then went to Reddit for help and suggestions. There were several referrals to Rossmann Repair Group. I contacted them through their online contact form. They immediately messaged with a few more questions and then gave me the necessary details to send my device to them in Austin. I did so - of course, the holidays slowed things down a bit, but by the second week in January, I received word that my lap top had been successfully repaired, losing NONE of my data. Amazing! The cost? A mere $459 which includes shipping back (USPS) to me, signing at delivery. I did have go pay for shipping to get it to them. Totally worth it to me. To insure safe and speedy delivery, signing upon delivery, to them. I paid about $89 for UPS, not including double boxing and bubble wrap. So, in total, I paid $638, for shipping to, repair, shipping back. I didn't lose ANY of my data. I am sooo happy and thankful to Rossmann Repair Group. Thank you!!!

After about 5 minutes he came back stating the power rail was broken, but I did not proceed with the repair, as the cost of repair was more than the value of the laptop. The quote was half of Apple's quote and came with a guarantee if that I will not pay if they can't successfully fix it. This is miles better than the Apple store as they would make you wait over 15 minutes even though you had an appointment just for the "genius" to say you need to quote an $800 logic board replacement. Best of all there was a cool painting of Clinton the cat!

I contacted SDR Service as I accidentally deleted some files off an SSD. I was initially told that…read morerecovery was not possible but then told to send it in and they might be able to get some of the data. I sent it in. I was then contacted by a different representative where we went through the same conversation to which they said they would do a "more invasive scan of the drive" to recover any data. They then proceeded to tell me it would be $1200 for the data they recovered. I cannot afford this as I am a single person business and told them to send the drive back. They asked what I could afford and accepted $500 for the data recovery. This part was great. At least I was able to get some data recovered. However, the drive that they sent back no longer boots ups. I STILL HAD DATA ON THAT DRIVE THAT WAS NOT DELETED THAT I NEED !!!!! I can no longer access any of my other business files that were not affected by my earlier mistake. I have attempted to contact them twice now over the last two weeks and they will not email or call me back despite speaking with a representative that says they will. Since they recovered some of the data I asked for that is great but since they have decided to not answer why I can no longer access the rest of my data they get a this review. Be prepared for them to ransom your files back to you as they would not state a price when I contacted them initially and I hope you can back up everything else on your drives before sending it as you can expect them to nuke the drive they send.

I took my Dell Latitude to Secure Data Recovery after it crashed and another repair company said…read morethat the laptop was not worth repairing and that they could not recover any data from the hard-drive. Data recovery costs are fairly high from any company, but Secure Data Recover does have different pricing based on urgency. I went with the slowest, and least costly. Fortunately, all my data was recovered. After my laptop was returned, I found out that the motherboard on my laptop had failed and was likely the root cause of my issues. It is possible that I could have simply replaced the motherboard and been able to recover the drive and my data without professional recovery costs.
