Needed a repair for my in-warranty Lenovo and brought it here. I dropped it off around 9:30 am, and picked it up that afternoon. It ended up that my fan error was cured by a good dusting, but my tech, Merrik (sp?) kept my PC for a few more hours and ran a battery of tests to make sure all components were running well. Another fantastic dealing with Datel. My four-year old Dell machine had a major motherboard dysfunction in late 2014. It was really bad, totally unexpected and probably a fluke. So I brought it to Datel and they tried very hard to repair it but to no avail -- it was a goner. Then they looked everywhere online for this exact motherboard so they could order it and install it, but Dell stops making them every few years, so it was impossible to find. I don't recall paying anything for work they couldn't do. Then, I spent two months reviewing a seller of this exact motherboard on eBay. He only sells refurbished boards and Datel warned me about trying a refurbished board. However, this seller had lots of excellent reviews so I bought one. It was my last hope. I brought the motherboard and the Dell back to Datel, and they happily installed the refurbished motherboard AND ran lots of Windows updates for me, since the machine had been unused for about three months. Everything is working great. It's now a back-up machine for me. Today I am bringing them some other equipment to have it recycled and to have some hard drives removed. I've done business with Datel Systems twice in the last four years or so and, both times, they've left me very happy with their service. This is a computer repair place that covers the needs of all kinds of customers, whether small businesses needing to expand or someone needing help piecing together a high-powered gaming computer. Both times I worked with them, I had them help me put together a gaming rig for my own personal use. Their staff are pretty well-versed and very friendly. They're awesome about walking me through everything and covering, in detail, each part to go into the build. They also do a pretty good job sticking to a schedule or time table, if they set one for you. The one, albeit small, drawback is that they're not always the cheapest deal in town. Of course, if you know what you're doing, you're better off ordering your parts from a site like NewEgg and doing it yourself. However, if you have a bit of money to work with and want some expertise, these guys are great. read more

Printer on the fritz? No problem! I was so scared to deal with my ailing laser printer...I paid more than $600 only 2 years ago and already there were issues. Kyle was amazing! He assured me they would take care of me, they diagnosed the issue the same day, dealt with Brother directly to have a replacement cartridge sent for me (a $129 value), and cleaned up my baby so it is in tip-top shape! All for their very reasonable inspection fee of $60.00. The problem could have been a lost worse, so I am lucky but I feel like they really took care of me as a person. I will be going back there to buy my next printer as well! read more

I have used Datel for over a decade. They are still in business in an industry with very poor longevity because they care for the customer. I can't think of anyone I have dealt with in over 35 years of using computers that is more professional nor more capable, both sales and service. This company is an example of everything that's good about brick and mortar and why virtually real big boxes are not the best answer. I have a PC at the office and a Mac in the crib. For years I've used Cry Wolf for my Mac Service needs- they were referred to me by the Mac store in Fashion Valley. Several years back I bought several high performance computers from Datel. A couple of years back one of the hard drives failed. We took it in for repair and the hard drive was covered under warranty. However, we could not get credit for the replacement without Datel sending it back to the manufacturer for inspection. They sent the hard drive off and about two weeks passed without an answer. Needing the computer back ASAP, we elected to just pay for a replacement. We never did get credit for the hard drive. Fast forward to about 5 weeks ago, we, again, had a failure on the hard drive for this same computer. We took it in for repair. The power supply was bad too and they couldn't test the hard drive until they got a new power supply. They ordered the new power supply, which took more than a week to receive. However, they had ordered the wrong power supply. They had to send it back and get a new one. This took another week and a half. Once they got the power supply installed, they found that the hard drive was bad. Good news, it's under warranty. But, they had to send it to the manufacturer for evaluation before the hard drive would be covered by the warranty. We are now 5 weeks in and still don't have the computer back. The technician is telling us that the manufacturer is disputing the warranty claim and he's in the middle of discussions with them. I gave up. We elected to pay for a new hard drive, warranty or not, just to get our computer back. Of course, it still takes several days for them to finish the repair. Did they ever hear about overnight mail? My opinion, they don't give a damn about your business, so long as they can milk your repairs, they're going to get what they can out of it. I will never do business with this crew again. read more

I am actually shocked that more people have not rated this company. It's probably because they are so happy with the work that was done to repair/ recover their computers that their elation overshadows any time to remember write about their experiences with Datel. Well up until now, I was one of those persons. I have used their services, albeit rarely, over the years whenever I had an out-of-warranty computer issue. Everything has been 5 stars: courtesy, expertise, pricing. But today was my calling. This is the first time my laptop had a total system failure: motherboard gave out. But luckily, the HD was okay. Although this may sound routine, it's not. Business people like me who get lulled into thinking that at best, occasional backing is barely obligatory, will never learn. Not only am I now illuminated, I learned to do this simple task with those that I feel did the best job this side of heaven for what could have been an absolutely devastating consequence had it been worked on anywhere else. It really is like surgery. You're at the complete mercy of those you have no control over. This is where I can laud Datel to no end. It's simple. They have proven each time I have dealt with them, especially today, that no one else even exists when it comes to servicing a computer. Above all, it's the trust that they easily impart on those who ever had the good luck to seek their services. They are huge, yet they are more than willing to help a little guy like me struggling enough as it is during this radical economic time. In fact, they were extremely nice enough to cut their original time estimate in half because of the nature of the motherboard being fried. Bottom line: I will be moving to South America very soon. I've learned my lesson to do frequent backups. But if something happens even down there, I'm shipping my laptop here to have it fixed and then returned. No question about it!
