Our food was fine and I want to support this place as we don't have that many awesome things to do here but I had 4 kids with me very specifically asked for a cheap game card option and asked questions and come to find out instead of paying that amount I paid that amount per kid after I asked if that was the total. I don't know what to say..... Back story: I grew up in San Jose, so my first D&B was at the Great Mall. Nicely laid out. Great square footage and able to walk around. Modesto's: I was first impressed because of how new the machines are but as walking in to D&B I started to notice just how compact it is. Plus, they had half of the machines that Milpitas does. What makes you go "ooohhh and aaawww" is how new and shiny the games are. There were about six of them that didn't work, flagged down a worker, told them. After he noticed it didn't work he wouldn't even put tape over it. I asked if I was going to get my credits back and was told no. Ok...... The only fun game that was worth our time was Air Hockey. My son and I had a blast. That was worth the pricey credit. Also, the credits are a joke. 4 credits for one plinko chip or to play a game that has only one time "play". Normally, the "whack the bell" to see how strong you are, is totally reversed. You have to hit it as light as possible to get any tickets. I guess my expectations were high for them as it was part of the old Sears building and being 20 years newer than Milpitas. I don't know anything about the food or bar because we just wanted to get out of there. It was really hot in there due to how many people were in there and how small it is. It has finally opened!!! A long wait for Modesto locals ever since they announced it arriving to the area several years back. It is located within the Vintage Faire Mall plaza right connected to Dick's Sporting Goods. Plentiful parking for a location that brings more excitement and entertainment to the 209 area. My family and I came on Wednesday evening and it was super packed! Must be because of the special 1/2 games they have this day. Not only with this amazing special they also have happy hour at select times! If you have been to any other Dave & Buster's then it won't be much of a surprise that you will see many similarities. The menu, drinks, gigantic TV, and even the games are all the same. We were able to get a table by the bar and ordered a good amount of the foods, which are all listed below with a quick review: 1. Pretzel Dogs ($12.75) - Basically pigs in a blanket. Came with five pieces with habanero honey mustard on the side. Nothing amazing and not worth for the price. 2. Cantina Nachos ($14.50) - Decent portion that is very shareable with others. Comes with a good amount of toppings and chicken. Unfortunately, SUPER SALTY! 3. Double Pepperoni Flatbread ($11.95) - This was surprisingly pretty good! Basic, but can't complain on pizza! 4. Creole Shrimp Dip ($12.75) - Pretty good! The dip definitley had a shrimp/seafood taste and paird well with the wonton chips. Although, this was also very salty the more you consume it. 5. Garlic Parmesan Truffle Fries ($9.95) - Very large amount provided. Easily shareable and nice garlic bits and truffle flavor. However, also very salty. 6. Spicy Korean Original Wings ($12.95) plus side of fries ($1.75) - This was very tasty! Good amount of meat on the wings and comes with celery, carrots, and ranch. After eating we went to the arcade/gaming area. You have to purchase a card first, which is $3 by itself, and then load up the amount of points you want to play games. Obviously, the more you spend the more points to play games. You play games to win "tickets", which can be redeemed for prizes. There is a lot of variety of arcade games to choose from creating a great experience for your family and friends to enjoy! It is the first week of opening and some games were having trouble, but luckily there were plenty of workers around to assist. If games is not your thing, of course you can just sit back at the bar or are with their gigantic TV to watch sports and have drinks. Overall, a nice touch that this area really needed. read more

I came here with my grandson for lunch At 12:10 absolutely worst service I have ever ever had in my 32 years of traveling. We had to wait 15 minutes before we were greeted by anybody when we were finally greeted we ordered lunch and waited another 15 minutes to get our drinks not food. 36 minutes later, we received my grandson's boneless chicken, wings, and fries, and I was still waiting for my entrée which was not brought out at the same time. My family and I went yesterday (Saturday) for dinner. We reserved a table online, thinking it would be busy. We got a table as soon as we got there. I was surprised they were not busy. The dining room was roughly 70% empty at 6:30pm on a Saturday. After getting our food, I knew why. The food was terrible. The price was in line, $18-$23 per person, but the quality of the food is why they are failing. We spent $300 in total last night, but we regretted going and won't be back. read more

My friend ordered wings with fries shortly after I ordered. They brought different sauced wings than he ordered. Me, nothing. They tried to bring me a rolled something appetizer. Finally get my wings. He got his right wings. No cauliflower, after asking about it twice more, they arrived. No napkins in napkin holder, ect. It is nice to have Dave & Buster in Modesto. Although this Dave & Buster's is smaller and offers fewer games, it isn't a total loss. The claw machine is always packed with cool stuffie characters such as Rick & Morty, Family Guy, Looney Toons, and more. Shhh here's a secret, the claw machine is quite easy to win. Take a look at our photos. They also offer the car racing game called "Storm Racer" where your seat will move and shake upon impact. They don't have this game at the other Dave & Buster's we've been to. It isn't too busy here so there isn't too long of a wait to share the games with others. The place is filled with smiles and laughter from the competitive nature of all the gamers here. It is a fun place to hang out in Modesto. Can't say the same for the food here. read more

Walked in at 11:30 on a Tuesday. One table with five people and one guy at the bar. Sign says wait to be seated so we stood around for several minutes until somebody came out of a side room and told us we could sit anywhere. We walked over by two servers and started to sit down at a booth, only to be told we had to sit at a table. We sat down and waited. I went to the restroom, my wife then went to the restroom and still no service. A server came out of the kitchen and looked at us twice. After ten minutes of nobody coming to help us, we left. The two servers we originally saw when we sat down had vanished. Pathetic service, especially since it was empty. Maybe we now know why it was empty. Edit: What a trashy, pathetic company this is. The manager responded to my first review and gave me a link to go to, to share my issues. So, you as a manager can't take what I say on here? I now have to go make my complaint elsewhere? But, since their customer service was so awful, I went to the link. It asked about selling my personal information and cookie options. I denied them all. Then, the very last screen has a confirmation button after you choose your cookie options. But, it's tricky and good thing I read it. After declining them all; they have their last option set to look like a confirmation to your cookie preferences, but it says "accept all." We had a chance to visit this new location to celebrate a nine year olds birthday. It was a fun night and a fun gathering. The staff working that particular evening that we were here we're all fairly nice. The most exciting of the games or attractions that we liked the most was the virtual reality Seating attraction. They have quite a bit of game selections to choose from. The bar area stayed fairly packed but they did have a great amount of staff working the bar for the amount of business that attracted this evening. The drinks are fairly good we end of the evening with being able to watch a UFC fight on the screens. Definitely be sure that your budget fairly well before visiting lol! I'm sure we will be paying a visit to this location again soon. A good spot to catch a bite to eat or drink or to simply get the family out of the house for a few hours. Wow!! truffle fries 1 salad 1 meal (salmon) 1 ice tea (1 free water). 2 pumpkin cheesecake slices (couldn't taste pumpkin) $85 (not including a tip). Dave and busters in the Central Valley? Yes it is true! I came in on a weekend for a party. The place was pretty spacious, had a big bar, lots of seating available, with tvs, and of course a lot of video games. We ordered Mac and cheese, and pizza for the kids and wings, and a chicken sandwich for the adults. I was impressed with the food for this being a more of a fast food type of restaurant for the most part and also the service was pretty quick so you can't beat that. I didn't notice for the restaurant area the seating was kind of separated from the playing area which is something you wanna make note of if you do decide to eat here. Most of the games were in working order and seemed a lot of fun. I did play with my children a couple of games and it brought back old memories from when I used to visit the Dave & Buster's located in Milpitas. I took my 6 kiddo limit last Wednesday as it was their last day of summer school, and it was half price games. We were seated immediately and told we "had a great server".... Too bad we didn't see him for about 25 minutes. He seemed to only have 2 or 3 other tables, and spent about 15 at the table next to us with drunk older men. I can only assume that he ignored us, because he knew my table wouldn't be boozing. He passed us at least 5 times and not a word. Not "be right with you", not, "I'm super busy but I haven't forgotten about you", nada. When he arrived, he asks did we want drinks. Umm, bud, it's been 25 minutes since we sat down, I think we would like food, and please hurry with it... In fact I actually asked for him to bring it as it was ready, and shocker, they didn't. Half was cold. Seriously though, Kraft fucking mac and cheese..... So $5.25 for a bowl of $1.39 mac and cheese. Whatever, kids. It was a treat so no biggie. I ordered a bunless, cheeseless burger with extra veggies, I of course received a bun with cheese and no extra veggies. They offered to refire but like it's been close to an hour so no, I will just scrape the friggin cheese off I guess. They didn't really apologize more than that and went away. I asked him about how we get game cards. He said he could get them and if I buy 4 or more there's a bit of a price break. Coolness. Well get this, when the bill comes, the suggested gratuity INCLUDES MY GAME CARDS? Nah fam, I am not fucking tipping 20% on my game cards that I could have purchased out of the machine, if he had pointed me in that direction. WTF is that shit? We ordered literally $80 in food and then I got $240 in game cards. And I should tip over 60 for this? That's ridiculous. Dude then asks if I'm paying cash or card, and I laid a mom joke "What is this cash you speak of", to which he replied that someone paid a $4k tab in cash the other day. That sort of rubbed me the fucking wrong ass way, because again the insinuation that his alcoholic customers are somehow more important was implied here. Then he hovers over me as I'm supposed to figure out a tip on this little machine and oops, sorry bud, but I hit go without tipping you. But that's okay because you did the bare ass minimum for my table, and surely that 4k customer tipped you generously, right? Oh we also weren't told that we could take our drinks in the gaming area, and basically wasted 2 $4 lemonades. Here's the real watered down version because I kept hitting the text limit. 1. Not expecting perfection - new place. We get it. 2. Terribly long wait for table and food. 3. 1 star is for the gracious waitress, the pretty okay food, and the one security guard at the bottom floor who wasn't acting like a douche. 4. All would've been forgiven because it's a new place and the workforce market is suspect, except: Security harassed us and followed us out for absolutely no viable reason. 5. IF YOU VALUE FEELING SAFE in a fun environment, you may need to worry about the security staff more than drunk patrons. 12:58 security guard one approaches. We learn they close at 1, not 2 like posted on all online platforms. We say okay and express intent to leave. Our friend is in the middle of her ddr game that she's paid for. 2nd guard starts to approach and tell her to leave her game. I tell her we'll leave when the game my friend paid for is over. Literally like 2 mins from this point. She cops a severe attitude, arguing that they've been warning us over the intercom - which you can't hear because of music- and that we need to leave.I had to remove myself from speaking to her after she stopped making logical sense because my reciprocal attitude was starting to come through. We were non-violent, not intoxicated, and generally very low key customers who explained we'd leave very soon. It didn't seem reasonable to allow someone to pay for a service and not allow them an extra minute to complete that service ‍ 1:00 hits, friend is in the midst of her last song, and they send their biggest security guard to stand over and intimidate my friend off of her game. Literally, at the edge of the pad repeating how they're closed over and over again. She has social anxiety and came away feeling extremely uncomfortable, and he almost made her trip while she was finishing her game with his close proximity. I honestly don't know what they expected when they did that. They're lucky they didn't touch her, but damn it if it wasn't too close for comfort. We were not doing anything but waiting patiently for a game to come to an end. We weren't into being bullied into submission and treated like garbage for *gasp* finishing a game that she paid for at a gaming place while other customers were still walking around freely! 1:03 walking down the stairs to exit after being made to feel like criminals. Security guards hot on our tails, if I'd bent down to tie shoe suddenly, they would've tripped over me. Very hostile. Unfriendly. Stressful. Intimidating. We won't be going back. We won't be sending family and friends. We will be calling corporate or the franchisee. The GM has their work cut out for them. Goodluck! I don't usually yelp too much bad stuff, I try to focus on the good because I've managed establishments, but the extended version of this story is egregious. Arcade and atmosphere is fun, expect to pay an arm and a leg if you bring your kids but the experience is worth it. The food, well that's another story. So we ordered the Philly dip. The kids all ordered their own plates. Kids food came out and they all finished eating and our food came out almost 30 minutes later. At this time the kids were going crazy as they wanted to play cause they finished with their meals and we hadn't even got ours. What really was annoying was the server brought us out check and said "no rush, when ever you are ready". I laughed and asked him if we could eat first- that we hadn't got our food- he apologized and went back to check on it and said it still wasn't ready. Ended up only having a couple bites when it finally came ( Cold somehow btw) because the kids were restless at this point. Never brought us refills or really checked on us. It was very disappointing- the other thing was the Philly dips we ordered the au jus dip was clear and oily- I've never seen anything like it- tasted just like hot water - I told the server and he said that it always looks like that- I showed him the picture on the website of what it looks like and said he could return it if we wanted but offered no discounts or anything in lieu of the wait and not getting our entire order. All in all it was disappointing and will most likely not be back. This was second attempt here as the first time I came here they didn't have their food labeled during their grand opening event and caused me to have an allergic reaction to shellfish - even though their server said there was none. Hoping that they can get better staff and better management here and turn it around into a hood Dave and busters like all the other ones I keep hearing good things about. Avoid this place. Terrible service, terrible food and the music is so loud that the servers are losing their voice trying to yell over it. While playing the games after having it wait for them to fix the card kiosk we found an IPhone. Went to the staffs watching the gaming floor to turn it in and he was so rude and even said " what do you want me to do with it". Our food was not cooked properly. My sons meal came 25 minutes before the other meals. My Long Island iced tea had no alcohol, just sweet and sour with some soda. We wanted to complain but our server never came back. The service for games is not bad. However the service to order food is horrible. I ordered a lemon drop and was asked what kind of tequila? It's with vodka so I said Tito's vodka. Then I get a shot of Tito's vodka not a lemon drop. So I told the waitress, who was a different one from the one that took our drink order, that if they couldn't make the lemon drop it was fine id just get the blood orange Paloma. Well I waited 10+ minutes and still have not received my drink. Just be prepared to wait a long while for someone to take your food order. Cee was our second server and she was awesome! Came here with my girl friends to celebrate a birthday. No one really approached our table, so we figured we'd walk to the bar to grab drinks first. Had the strawberry watermelon marg and it was so yummy, had me turnt off one drink lol. Our server Kate was so sweet. She was the best server ever, and took care of us. Our online ordering (through the website) didn't really work. We were able to order the food but had to wait a long time until Kate told us that the online ordering never really worked. She took great care of us, and because we ordered online (separate tabs), we couldn't pay on the website either. So Kate figured each tab out manually on her device for us.
