Every trip to Maine includes When Pigs Fly. The pizza is amazing and there is no question why it is always packed. There is not a bad pizza on the menu.

My wife and I were looking for a spot to eat at along Route 1 as we were heading north back towards home and this was our choice. Technically we came here a little off five years ago during the middle of you know what was happening in 2020. I had forgotten to do a review back then so with revisiting I can now do a review. I will lastly mention during our 2020 visit we split a pizza and enjoyed it. This visit we opted for things other than pizza so don't worry for those not interested in pizza, they have lots of options still. Drink wise they have everything you'd expect for soda, tea, lemonade, etc then beer wise they had around 20 on draft with some cans too. As well as plenty of wines and cocktails for fans of those too. Then food wise they have you guessed it pizza with roughly 15 styles they chose with plenty of toppings for you to make your own if wanted. Price wise I will say the majority of pizzas were priced $24-$26 which I thought was a little pricey but expected for a tourist heavy spot on Route 1. Otherwise food wise you could pick from apps; wings, tenders, hummus, etc. Meals such as Mac n Cheese, Tacos (fish, brisket), salads, and lots of sandwiches and burgers. Along with all their usual menu offerings you should get a page with the current specials too. This is where my wife and I grabbed the fried mozzarella for starting app which were delicious. Great taste with a perfect cheese pull! Then entree wise my wife got their Turkey BLT and I got their Meatball Grilled cheese. I recommend trying a sandwich if you don't choose pizza especially if you haven't tried their delicious bread. My sandwich used their soft sourdough and my wife's used their savory cranberry bread. We both were extremely happy with our food. Grab some of their bread in the next door company store before or after your meal, which I also reviewed that. Service was very good. The hostess was friendly and our wait for our table was less than estimated and they text you when it is ready. Food wise the app came out in no time and shortly after starting in on that our sandwiches showed up. No complaints at all service wise. Ambiance wise it feels like a restaurant with some rustic feels to it. It was closed already but if you come here in the summer the highlight would definitely be sitting outside enjoying the nice weather. Definitely a tourist spot but one that my wife and I do enjoy as locals.

If you want a really great pizza not from a pizza chain and you're anywhere near Kittery, Maine, please consider When Pigs Fly Pizzeria. It's so much more than a really great pizza place and their kids menu is a bonus if your party includes little ones. If you love artisan breads, check out their Company Store adjacent to the restaurant. Today we enjoyed their pizza and took 3 loaves of bread to go.

Another amazing trip to When Pigs Fly! We stopped in and found out there was about a 20 minute wait which was no problem for us. Great food is worth the wait! We were sat within 15 minutes so even better. We were thrilled to see fried mozzarella on the specials menu, the last time we had their fried mozzarella we swore it was the best we've ever had; this remains true! We also had the arancini special along with the pretzels and cheese dip. Again everything was delicious. Our waitress was also fantastic and everything came quickly! We love this place and can't wait to visit again!

Excellent food and service. Ordered the teriyaki beef bowl and it was so delicious. The pizzas looked incredible and next time I go I will certainly try one. Decent selection of various local craft beers.

Half soppresetta and medjool honey and half eggplant parm pizza

I adore when pigs fly bread, so when I found out they had a pizzeria, I knew I had to check it out. I tried their soppresetta and medjool honey option, which was a good balance of sweet and savory. The eggplant Parmesan pizza was also good, though I wish there were more of the eggplant Parmesan wedges for the size of the pizza. Wish those wedges came as an appetizer. Crust was very thin and the tomato sauce leaned heavily to the sweeter side. Service is efficient. They offer a Wednesday night happy hour with $10 pizzas if you happen to be in the area. Bonus: company store is within the same building so you can also stock up on their fantastic bread and baked goods on the same trip.

Great place for lunch in Kittery. Food and service were both great. OMG the Brussels! Amazing! Grilled cheese was excellent, as was the poutine with brisket. Service was great. After lunch, we bought a few things at the cute store next door.

Stopped in for a quick bite after first visiting the bakery next door! Thought I was going to have pizza, but there were some other interesting sandwich & bowl options. I decided on their new Asian-inspired beef bowl. The steak was tender and there was plenty of rice and veggies. The sauce was a tad bit salty but nicely ginger-forward. My friend had the fried haddock sandwich with tartar sauce & house fries. The batter was extremely crisp and light. The fish was fluffy and flakey. Reportedly the best fish sandwich consumed in a long time. I enjoyed the fries which were flat like chips but more French fry-like. Our server, Nick, was awesome and attentive and checked back regularly. The vibe is a brewery/pub that's buzzing with happy customers. Very clean and great spacing between tables so you're not sitting on top of folks. Highly recommend.

It's a loud place. We were a part of eight and had several different pizzas and appetizers. It was good food and good service.

The pizzas are a lot more expensive than I thought an individual-sized bar pie would be ... and the pizza was honestly nothing I couldn't make at home in a toaster. However, the 70's atmosphere didn't dissapoint. The best part about this place ... other than the fantastic waitress ... was the ice cold beer. It comes in a frosted mug and is some of the coldest beer I've had on draft. The prices weren't terrible at about $5 - $7 per glass, although the glasses seemed a little small. 12 ounce maybe. The best of the pizzas we ordered was the roasted garlic pie. The garlic was sweet but also had the typical garlic taste. Hamds down, I woukd order this again. The hamburger pizza was the worst of the bunch with dry, tasteless burger crumbles on it. I was surprised to see so many good reviews about it. Everything else was just okay. Next time, I'll try one of their more intrtesting pies like the bratwurst one. A one-topping pizza was $15 - $16 and was about the size of a frozen Cape Cod pizza from the supermarket. About the size of a dinner plate and enough for one person ... probably not to share. I heard interesting things about the wings bit I am not a fan of 'heat challenges', so we skipped those after hearing another customer say they could barely finish one due to the pepper. Overall, if you want to feel like you are in the late 70's/early 80's, this is the no frills vibe you'll get. Except in the 1970's the cost of one pizza today could buy dinner for an entire sports team back then. This place gets my recommendation, especislly if you like a thinner/crisper crust and well-done cheese/toppings. Places that have been around since Gerald Ford was President are a rare thing these days, especially off the highway in a town like Portsmouth.

First stop, busy. Second stop, twas still busy. Third stop, the word Napoletana caught my attention. One of my favorite styles of pizza, I didn't even think twice to verify the legitimacy of their offerings and walked right through the door and sat by the bar (skipping the long wait for a table). Two bartenders, night and day in their demeanor. One was rather calm and quiet BUT very polite and efficient. The other, rude and inattentive. I'm glad (and thankful) that the former of the two waited on my side of the bar. It was very busy and the atmosphere was filled with celebratory cheer. Everyone seemed to be having a great time. Food came at a reasonable time based on how busy things were. Bartender 1 checked in often to make sure everything was good. Thank you again. Mussels fra diavolo was cooked well and to the right texture. Sauce very buttery, salted well and with just a little heat (not spicy at all like the name implies). Toast was a little too toasted, lol. However, when the pizza arrived, is when I realized that names are just names. This is not Napoletana pizza. While the ingredients were an amazing combination on their Fichi pizza, the soggy center was an absolute letdown. Mushy dough is a tad much to accept. And now enters bartender 2 at the end of my meal after awesome bartender 1 had waited on our side this whole time. From a foot away while talking to another patron at the bar, he literally tossed the guest check presenter toward me without making any effort to actually place it down professionally. I've not had any interaction with him to warrant this behavior and would have rather ended this evening thanking bartender 1 for his kind service. That said, I left wondering WTF I just walked into based on a name that didn't live up to its name at all. Such a shame. Beautiful place, great concept and menu, poor execution overall.
