We stopped in here yesterday for lunch, and were excited that the enclosed porch area, where our dog was welcomed, had plenty of heaters, blankets, and cushions - which made for a cozy experience on a cold day. The seating was choose a table, so we selected one in the corner. Our server brought out menus, and a water bowl for Toby. My mom ordered a burger - which was cooked perfectly to the temp specified (medium), that she enjoyed, she selected the homemade chips as her side (yum!) I ordered the french dip which was on the specials menu - it, and the au jus that came with it were delicious! You can select a side that you want - I went with Mac and cheese, which was delightful (a lot of food though, so took most of the Mac home). I've been in here a few times to eat and have hit this place up the past few times I've headed into Kittery for the KBP (Kittery Block Party). I was just here recently on 06/15/2024 with friends & family. It was such a beautiful day out (finally!!) & they were packed/busy. They had a grill outside that they were grilling up some burgers that smelt amazing. They have a little outside patio that is covered & one that is open. We were told our wait would be 20 minutes but it seemed that we ended up getting seated in less than 20. One negative thing about this place is that they only have 1 bathroom which is unisex so the wait to use the bathroom can be long & there really isn't a good place to stand in line for it. As the kitchen door is right there & then there is a table up against the wall where customers sit. I felt like I was in everyone's way while waiting to use the bathroom....lol There was 7 of us total but only 4 of us showed up first & we were seated outside under the covered patio. Our table wasn't big enough for 7 & the waitress actually asked the 3 girls at the big table next to us if they wouldn't mind switching with us & they had no problem in doing so, luckily they had just drinks & had just placed a food order so it was an easy switch for everyone.....thank you girls!! This did confuse the waitress a little bit once the other 3 showed up when she brought our drinks out to the 4 of us. This visit I got the grilled chicken club which I thought the menu said it was fried but apparently it is grilled which ended up being great because the sandwich was delicious. The chicken was nice & moist. I did omit the cheese & asked for my bacon on the side. Good thing I looked @ my receipt because when our waitress Jess put the order in, the register automictically charged me for "a side of bacon" when the bacon comes on the sandwich, it was an easy fix for her. I also got their homemade potato chips with a horseradish dip which wasn't too spicy. I've gotten their chips in the past, always a hit. Other food items I've had in the past have been their mac & cheese, chicken & lemongrass potstickers, pretzel bites with beer cheese & chicken fingers. Everything has been tasty so far. Jess was an amazing waitress. We didn't wait long for her to take our order, bring our drinks & check on us after we tasted our food. Surprisingly as busy as it was on KBP we didn't wait long @ all for our food. She was able to get all the checks separated as asked for and was very nice & friendly, thank you Jess!! Funny cause for some reason I thought her name was Ashley but my receipt says "Jess H." My friend's & I that I was with, we all know the owners and go way back with them from when they owned another business apx 30yrs ago that we use to venture to frequently. My sister-in-law also knows the owners too. So it's always nice to get to see them & say hello when we stop in. They're great people & definitely do a great job running this place! We stopped by to grab a bite as we waited for the Wallingford Dram to open. They have indoor and outdoor seating and allow dogs in their patio area. It is small but it gives it a cozy local neighborhood pub vibe. They have a lot of food options and a limited cocktail menu. I did try their espresso martini, which was Kahlua heavy but still tasty. We ordered the poboy sandwich which was made with soft shell crab and a pulled bbq pork sandwich. Both were tasty and served with curly fries. read more

Small place, we grabbed a table half way in and found ourselves freezing every time the door opened. Menu was fine, nothing special (apps, sandwiches and burgers) but prices were reasonable (8oz burger $13). I probably would be more positive with this review if it didn't take so long to be served. Waitress came with food maybe 15 min after we ordered, but it turned out to be for a diff table. They ate, paid, and left before we got ours. Food was good (burger, chicken club, homemade chips). 2 sodas, $36 before tip. Single seater, unisex bathroom opens right into dining 3 steps from an occupied table. Awkward. Great outdoor seating in Downtown Kittery, was a little slow for service but food was delicious! We had 8 in our group and most of us got chicken sandwiches or burgers and everyone was very happy with their meals. Cute stores right next to the restaurant as well. We were looking for a really good burger - cuz it had been a day. We also wanted to not go into Portsmouth, this totally fit the bill! The burger was easily five stars - cooked just right and oh so good! I had the basic -medium rare with cheddar. Wayne had a bacon cheddar burger with chipotle aioli. Driving today, NYC to Portland, ME, in nearly white out conditions. Thankful to find this restaurant open in the storm. Seems several other people were too as the place was packed. The game was on and the place, loud. My burger was delicious and cooked to perfection - 8 oz patty with Swiss, bacon, lettuce and tomato. In the spirit of full and fair disclosure, my husband and I made our way to Rudders this past Sunday-the day after the long heat/humidty trend broke. It was sunny, gorgeous AND we had just gone on a 2 hour sail aboard the Lynx out of Portsmouth. My point: how can anything bring you down after a tall ship adventure on a picture perfect New England seacoast day?!?! With all of that, Rudders would've been perfect on any kind of day. It's dark wood bar feels like you could slide onto a chair, order any one of their (many) chicken sandwiches, or burgers, or salads (Beet and Goat Cheese, please) or the Kittery Fried Chicken (before it's gone), and make new friends. The waitstaff was lovely, the drinks generous, and the seating at the round tables inside a bit close but all had just 2 ppl each so it was absolutely fine. There was also seating outside, but we were on a mission to get in that I didn't study what the configuration was although I do know everyone was happy. Lots of laughing going on! Prices are on point, the pub is situated in gorgeous Kittery (noooooo, not the outlets ), and is worth a visit. Or two! read more

Wow. My wife and I were looking for a local place for lunch and we found it. We sat outside. Inside was nice. Warm sunshine and under an umbrella. The serves was excellent our server was helpful and engaging. We eat had burgers oh so good .juicy tender. A cold beer too. Place to go back to again on another day. read more

No lobster rolls, that was disappointing. For our party: the salmon was delicious The bbq bacon burger was the best my friend has had. I find it laughable they charge $4. for 5 small pieces of asparagus. I mean I asked for a side, not a bite. Even 7/8 would've been acceptable I guess. Discovered this gem while scrolling yelp, looking for a place for lunch, while in the area. It definitely lives up to its name and has a public house vibe. We both ordered burgers, medium rare. One with coleslaw as the side and the other with house made chips. One bite into the burger and we knew we had found the right place! Burger was deep pink and juicy! Lately it seems that even when asked how you want your burger it comes well done . So it was a real pleasure to have a properly cooked burger! The slaw was delicious with the addition of celery seed. Hubby, not a celery lover would have been bummed. His house made chips were crispy , well seasoned and thick cut. Yes I did snitch a few. Wait staff was attentive and had a friendly demeanor. 2 words: lobster roll. Came on a Tuesday during lunch and it was quick easy service and plenty of seating. Parked a little down the block. Highly recommend for a solid lobster roll with perfectly crispy buttered bun and not too much mayo. read more

I had dinner here with some coworkers. The restaurant is small we sat at the bar for quicker service. The service was really good. I ordered a fried cheese burger with bacon and fries, a side brussel sprouts, and shared an order of garlic parmesan wings. The brussel spouts were really delicious as was the chicken wings which were really meaty. The food and appetizers came out relatively quickly as was the drink service. Overall was a nice quick dinner but the only complaint I had was place had a funny smell. It wasn't strong but it was noticeable and it was not a nice smell. Later, I found out it that the smell might have been from the seafood processing place that was nearby and was smelling of rotting seafood. read more

Melissa the bartender is childish, rude, and unprofessional, to say the very least. The rest of the staff is friendly and have all agreed she is a consistent problem... And has been since she started. Management turns a blind eye to customer concerns regarding her behavior and poor service. We have seen her over serve folks then openly talk badly about them to other customers! Like the guy that lives above the bar who doesnt work there for example. She also lets him behind the bar (and he is not staff) only to turn around and whine about it! We've seen her be aggressive and degrading towards multiple women patrons. We've seen her talk poorly and give horrible service to many local and non local customers and no one holds her accountable for her actions. As a local, I expected more from this establishment. This behavior is beyond unacceptable. She is clearly not cut out to work with the public let alone have the position of a bartender. I will never go back to this dump and will encourage my friends and family to avoid at all costs as well. Last but not least, the food is WAY over priced and frozen... Nothing is fresh or homemade. This is a local pub, complete with loud drunk boys next to us (sitting outside). Dark and pub-like on the inside with a bit of seating outside. Their BLT was excellent (the bread and the basil aioli), and they make their own delicious potato chips. You won't go wrong with a burger here. Recently found this great hidden comfort food gem. The place is exactly what we wanted. Comfort food and comfort people. The grilled cheese meatball on Texas toast is as good as it sounds . The drinks we so delicious There are TVs through out and just a sold feel to it . Its located right next to the naval base but is not just that base bar feel. All are welcome and you have the perfect blend in there. The bartender Chloe is just so attentive and fun. Even though we were not sitting at the bar she constantly checked in on us and gave the right amount of personality and professionalism. The waitress was not in a good mood so she was not very welcoming. My boyfriend got mac and cheese which was $6 and it was the smallest portion I've ever seen. We said something about how small we thought it was which then our waitress replied " oh really ". They have a cute set up outside. Maybe if I just wanted to go out for drinks, this would be a good spot. However, we brought the family for dinner, so the food was more important than drinks. The host and server were very friendly and that is the end of my positive comments. Our server was wearing her mask under her nose, so we felt the need to wear our masks up to the moment our food was served and she stepped away. The food? Inedible. We ordered fish and chips and the fish was a puck. It smelled fishy (not in a good way), it was 1/4" thick and just not good. The fries were ok. Someone else commented that they were good with allergies. My daughter found almost nothing she could eat. My bad, I should have called first. There was no offer to send a manager out to see if there was something they could do. Maybe we would try again in a few months, but right now, no way. read more
