Dave will make your car look as good as new even when there is major damage! He exceeded my expectations in workmanship and professionalism! He not only managed to bring back my car to an as "good as new" condition but also did so within 1 week. He keeps his word and is very professional. My car had a lot of damage in the rear and in the front. I was so dismayed that I wanted to sell the car - my thought was that even with repairs, how much improvement could one get? I took many quotes from repair shops in Mountain View, Sunnyvale and San Jose. The quotes were all in the $3300 to $5500 range even after negotiation and even after I told them that I was paying out of pocket for the repairs. Spending this much money was painful. I was at another repair shop and asking for a discount when Dave's name came up and the repair shop (a big one) said that Dave does a good job for non-insurance as well as insurance repairs. Dave gave me a quote of $2500 and within a week he had fixed the rear quarter panel (which others were wanting to replace) - this would have taken a lot of skilled workmanship (getting all the angles out). The repair looks so perfect that there is no sign of the fact that the car had been severely damaged. The paint was the best part - it matched exactly with the rest of the car (which is aging). He certainly has skilled workers. More importantly, Dave stuck to his promise of delivering the car within a week - which included buying the parts and stuck to the price (I was expecting - as is usual, with body shops, that something else would get uncovered and a few hundred dollars would get added - none of this happened). I brought my car in for an estimate... Liam (owns the shop, not Dave) Even before I made a decision, Liam got some strong twine, tied up my front bumper so that it was safe to drive. Then he reached into the car and removed the lic. plate - hammered it flat and screwed it on. All this without my asking. He bid seemed fair, but I wanted another - and they were almost the same. Liam was a litle bit more epensive, but not enough to really matter and I was so impressed with the service I got (unasked) that I decided to go back. Picked my car up yesterday - looks great and he even smoothed out a "booBoo" from another problem. After C&C Body Shop quoted me a rather large set of numbers (around $1400) for pulling the frame on my car and reattaching the bumper, I took it over to Dave's Body Shop for a second opinion. I told Liam that C&C already painted the new part, and I just needed the pulling work done; he walked around it, took a look, and quoted me $700. On the spot. Well, that was enough for me! I asked him for that in writing; he sort of looked at me quizzically, and wrote "Pull frame, attach bumper. $700. Liam." on the back of a business card and handed it to me. They drove me over to C&C to pick up the part, grabbed the part in the van, and dropped me off at the Caltrain station so I could get to work; a few days later, it was done. No fuss, no muss. I'm giving him four stars instead of five for two reasons. One, it wasn't quite done when he said it would be; but in fairness, the time I asked for was very aggressive, and he did have it done at the time he quoted before I asked him to pull it in. Still, if they couldn't do it in time, it wouldn't have broken my heart if he had just said "No, I can only get to it by Monday". Two, the job wasn't absolutely picture-perfect; there is still a dent around some panels nearby. Now, the job cost half of what the other guys quoted, so I don't feel at all mislead -- the quality is exactly in line with what I expected, and the work still does look great. Some of the other folks here mentioned that he didn't use some important additive in paint; I could believe that, but my car wasn't painted at his shop, so I'll never know, I guess. If that's true, though, then my advice stands: in the future, if something like this happens again for which I'm paying out of pocket, I'll take parts to C&C to be painted, and then have the bodywork done at Dave's. My mazda6 hit a wall when parking(pressing the pedal instead of the break in the last few feet) and the frame shrink in for about half a inch, as a result, when I opened the front hood to check the inside, it won't lock in the latch any more. I took it to two other body shops, one said I need to pay $150 at first for the uninstall of bumper, etc to check whether it can be fixed and how to fix, the other said the deformation for mazda is un-recover-able, it may cost me several thousands of dollars, while at Dave's body shop they told me it can be easily fixed at a cost of $350, and I can get it in the afternoon(it was around 8:30am then). And actually I got my car as early as around 1pm and the fix was great! Unfortunately, my mazda 6 hit a pillar and lost it driver's side rear view mirror in the evening of the following day(Friday) and I had to come back again. But yelp showed Dave's shop was closed on Saturday. So I tried another shop and got a quote of $300 of which 160 is for the part and others for the paint and labor. Besides, I was told I need to get back on Monday so they can order the part and refinish/replace it. Then I called Dave's shop to see if I can get a better price there, since I have to wait for Monday anyway. Then I found out they actually work on Saturday 9am - 2pm. And when I took my car there, they gave me a quote of $200 of which $160 is for the part. Note that I didn't mention I got another quote beforehand and I heard them call for ordering the part and the price was indeed $160. What's more, when I mentioned I saw online I can order the part myself at a much lower price around $40, they are kind enough to let me do it and replace it for me at a cost of only $20(I showed him the part with paint which is not broken and thus can be reused, so re-painting is not needed). I was SO pleased with my experience here. I had a small dent over the front drivers-side wheel (someone backed into me in a parking lot -- grr) that I wasn't bothered about cosmetically (my car is almost 10 years old), but it seemed to be causing problems when I went over big bumps. I took it to a place in San Jose and got an estimate for $400, then decided I wanted a second opinion. My 2004 Acura TSX was rear-ended. Insurance considered it a total loss. I fought them, but to no avail. I snapped a few pictures and took them to Liem Pham at Dave's autobody. Don't let the basic look of the place fool you, this is a Grade A body shop. I needed to have new window sill, seal pieces installed on the driver's side of our suv, so I tried going to our previous body shop on Old Middlefield. They told me they couldn't do the work until after the new year. We were heading up to the snow and I wanted to get it done before we left, so I left there and pulled over to check Yelp. Dave's was the first shop that came up, and it happened to be directly in front of me. I pulled in, was greeted almost immediately and was told that they could install them first thing in tomorrow morning, and it would take about an hour. I showed up the next morning, dropped off the vehicle and the parts and walked to the nearby Starbucks. Sure enough, almost exactly an hour later they called and said it was ready. The job was done perfectly, quickly, and for a VERY fair price. I didn't catch the name of the older gentleman who helped me and did the work, but if he is thee "Dave", he's great, and so is his shop. I would definitely use Dave's Body Shop again. *I only had some new trim installed, so I can't vouch for the quality of major body work done by Dave's, but if the service I received is indicative, I'm sure the quality of all of their work is stellar. read more

We got the bumper on our Honda Civic replaced here after a parking lot bump. Liem gave us the choice between the proper (and more expensive) part and a less-costly generic part. Liem offered to bring his cost for the proper part down to match our insurance reimbursement, which was great. He did only tell us it'd be a day or two, but evidently the part took a couple of days to come in (which I'd guess is not his fault). We would have appreciated a phone call letting us know it would take a couple of extra days, but Liem was incredibly responsive when we did call, and waxed the car for us, too. I have a 2010 Audi that has gotten some "bruises" from my own family members over the years: 1. Heavy scratches on the trunk whilst trying to load up a bike rack and two bikes. 2. Dents and more scratches on driver's door when half asleep heading to Starbucks. 3. And worst of all: a huge dent in the driver-side fender whilst trying to unpark. By the third event I'd had it: The car looked like a trash heap. I had gotten some quotes for the 3 repairs, and they left me frozen with fear. I called Liam this morning and asked if he could install a new door handle on my fiance's Lexus RX350 that Lozano's Car wash employees had broken off. I had received an estimate from Putnam Lexus where we purchased the car for $450 and four hours of time. I had researched on the internet and found that it should only take a 20-30 minutes with the right tools. Liam quoted me $40 to install the part. He showed me in the computer that the standard rating is 45 minutes. I watched Liam properly install the part in 10 minutes, while carrying on a conversation with me. Liam is a very honest and conscientious person. When I told him what I had been quoted, he said he wouldn't be able to sleep at night if he did that to people. As people noted, the shop doesn't look like much, but the quality and integrity is top notch in my book. I will take my Tahoe that needs some minor touch repairs there in the near future. read more
