I ordered their small loaded chicken fries with pickles and coleslaw - very tasty and good quality for a "fast food" place. Their house sauce is really good and the seasoning for their chicken is not overpowering. The chicken tenders look like their drenched in seasoning, but it's pretty well - balanced. The sliders are better than the tenders as I do think the tender meal/fries are a little bland overall, you do need the sauce. But the slider with kale slaw is delicious and I would get again. Instead of addressing my request, the lady tried to calm me down by saying "everything is OK, let me get you your fries," and then quickly walked away as I was asking for a refund. By that point, I had already driven home and had to drive back. I was in no mood -- I expect my food hot and served together, not hot fries with a cold or "warm" sandwich. If they wanted to make it right, they should have either refunded me or at least given me the choice of a refund with the food. Don't try to convince me everything is OK when it clearly isn't. Eclectic décor (rubber chicken in a UFO crashed into the corner of the ceiling) and a good crowd of people even in the later evening hours, you can easily see how many people enjoy Dave's. We ordered ahead literally less than 10 minutes before arriving there and it was ready within me waiting 5 minutes there. Super efficient service. We got the Combo #1 that comes with 2 tenders (you can customize the spiciness of each tender) with fries. It comes with a slice of bread, pickles, and their Dave's Sauce (reminiscent of every creamy tangy orange sauce you can get at most hot chicken places). I ordered mild and medium hot and I'm really glad that I did because that medium hot was breaching the points of almost burning my mouth, panting while eating. I stopped by to get dinner and decided to use the restroom before ordering. There are two two identical restrooms on the left side of the hallway that are designated as "all gender restrooms". I selected the first unlocked restroom on the left and used the urinal (which is directly in front of the door). As I'm using the urinal I hear a key enter the door knob and the door opens! The door was locked and there was no knock. I was shocked and embarrassed and I asked the employee what he was doing. There is a legal expectation of privacy in the restroom. "THIS IS AN EMPLOYEE RESTROOM!" He yells. When I exited the employee didn't even have the decency to apologize for the mix up. Most people would feel just as awkward. He said that I used the employee restroom and the door should have been locked. No where on the door did it say that it was an employee restroom. I was obviously upset and embarrassed and the employee still didn't have empathy or the decency to apologize for the mistake. He even had the audacity to say, "I'm not mad." Well of course he wasn't mad, he wasn't the one who has his privacy violated!!! Management/franchisee, please fix your sign if that restroom is indeed an "employee restroom". Also train your employees in customer service. This entire interaction and post could have been mitigated with a simple apology. I had always wanted to try a bonafide hot chicken joint. Being in Los Angeles, which is known for having a multitude of hot chicken restaurant options, I was excited to try Dave's Hot Chicken at its location in Glendale. Parking was plentiful on the street where Dave's is situated on Colorado Boulevard. I enjoyed the simplicity of the front counter and the menu, which offers three options from which to choose. You could choose from two (2) chicken tenders and fries, two (2) sliders with fries, or a chicken tender and a slider with fries. You can select the level of heat that you want with your order: No spice, lite mild, mild, medium, hot, very hot, or reaper. Given I wanted to obtain a good feel for the heat levels at Dave's, I decided on the two (2) tenders and fries at medium heat while ordering a single tender with hot heat and one with very hot heat. I enjoy spicy food and heat, so I determined I wouldn't be smoked out with my selected options. Additionally, I ordered a chocolate milkshake to help with whatever heat level might be a little overwhelming. My order came reasonably fast from ordering it, and I brought my food back to my table with my mouth watering. Chicken-wise, the tenders are delicious, juicy, and fresh. Served on top of white bread, the tenders were cooked to perfection between the fried batter and freshness of the chicken, while the seasoning was perfect, which led to each bite being magical. The crinkle-cut fries were nicely seasoned as well. Heat-wise, I'm glad I did the medium, hot, and very hot heat levels. When comparing one to the other, I discovered that spice and heat level grows gradually but never overwhelmingly. While the very hot level was, to put it simply, hotter than the other two levels, I didn't feel smoked out where my mouth was uncontrollably on fire, which I enjoyed. Next time I'm in Los Angeles, I will return to Dave's to try their tenders at the reaper heat level to see how hot the spice is. Inside was simple they only had a few tables for inside seating but they also have a small patio in the front. I got the #3 combo (slider + tender). Delicious! As someone that likes spicy, the hot level was just right. Might have to take it up a notch next time. Just the right amount of slaw on the slider. The tender comes on a slice of bread. The hot chicken was tasty, not dry and the bread on the sliders held up perfectly. I like the Dave's sauce and added more than it came with. The mild was really good. Just a little bit of heat. Probably not enough for most people. I think I'll try medium next time. My lady really liked hers. I like the Half and Half cause 1 slider is perfect accompanied by a tender. This was enough to make me super full as I couldnt finish the tender... Dave's is easily my favorite of the LA hot chicken joints that I've tried... Crinkle cut fries are always good and theirs didnt disappoint. You get a good amount. Just ask for ketchup and extra Dave's sauce when you pick up your order.
