I've been eating at Dave's for about 5 years now. It's the 2nd best option in LA after Howlin Rays but for overall maybe tied for best since the price is right and you get a lot of food for $12.99. (Slider, tender and fries) and the wait is never that long. I think Hot is the best level to get your spice and not feel regret after. My brother and I decided to check this place out during the first week of September per the recommendation of our older brother. We were able to snag a parking spot close to the front of the restaurant and entered inside. The worker that was there was very friendly and helpful as we placed our order. I ordered the half and half combo, which came with one tender and one slider, and ordered their Mac and cheese as well. I was also able to claim a check in offer to get a free shake. We decided to eat indoors and our food was brought to our table. I definitely preferred eating the tender in slider form because the bread bun was really soft. The shake definitely hit the spot while eating our meals and I didn't really like the Mac and cheese too much because it wasn't your normal kind of Mac and cheese. So it had this spice mixture/taste that I wasn't a big fan of. I started to notice during the pandemic that tons of Nashville hot chicken shops opened up in Los Angeles area. However, I consider this place the pioneer of Nashville hot chicken. I'm glad that they opened up on different locations in Los Angeles. The chicken tender size is always consistent. I know this because I frequently visited other locations too (Wilshire, and Culver City). I love this place because they seasoned the chicken perfectly, not too hot, and the right amout of spice. One more thing, I love that this joint didn't charge extra for sauce unlike other places that I've been to. Parking is kinda though to find in this place or I just didn't saw it during my last visit. I like chicken tenders but I never really choose them when I go out to dinner. I went for the two strip combo. I liked that I could choose two different spice levels for them. I went for the MEDIUM AND SPICY CHICKEN STRIPS. the first bite I took was shockingly delicious! WHAM! For the most part I just ate them with the HOUSE SAUCE. Had to come here since I'm in the area. I got here a little before opening about 10:55. They did not open until 11:02. Seems like they weren't ready to open? That was the start of a red flag. I ordered and I was the first one there and I was order number 3. Maybe there is online order that's what made me 3? Worst Experience Ever!!! First time here to try Dave's Hot Chicken. I give Zero Stars 1. Worst Customer Service: from Stephanie L. Cashier. I asked if Slider can be Medium & Tender be Hot. She said NO, has to be same. I like Medium but want to try Hot, but don't like too Hot, can I get some on the side to taste it? NO. Can I just get a tiny dab just to taste it first before I Order? I'm more of a fried chicken connoisseur but I've had my share of chicken tenders as well... I love the simplicity of the menu. That's the way to keep up the quality of your food. Since this was my first time, I opted to get the #3 with Hot Sandwich and Mild Tender. RECOMMEND: Put a comparison of the heat level. I asked for the reaper on the side but they couldn't do that and I had to sign a waiver if I got it. The thing is, now I know that I can increase the heat level. The portion size in relation to the price was spot on. The tenders were moist and crispy at the same time. The flavor of the tenders were good but like I said...I can go hotter next time around. The fries were crispy and had a nice dusting of seasoning salt. The pickles on the side were delicious and crisp as well...Don't know if they make their own, but it's a simple process. I got three other combos to feed the entire family and I think there will be left overs for sure. TIP: Don't ask for extra sauce unless you are going to use it. Same goes for ketchup packets and honey packets. If the owners are reading this...get that under control now 'cause the restaurant business is about nickels and dimes. The chicken had so much flavor and I was actually addicted to it. I got daves for like 3 weeks after that and then my addiction died down. Unfortunately their quality has gone down since. Im guessing its because they wanted to make the food cost cheaper for themselves so they could make more profit The chicken still has that addictive taste but its not what it used to be.
