I've been to other Flame Broiler franchise locations, and this location is the best. The perfect amount of chicken, cooked perfectly, and the quality of the food at this particular location is the best of all Flame Broiler locations. Overall, it makes me wonder if quality control is a problem with Flame Broiler due to the inconsistencies in quality among the different franchise locations. I didn't do a review on the other locations, because it looks like they're barely getting by.

Mark this review down as the 2nd in a pending series (North Shore is the first) of a number of reviews of businesses that i have passed by by car, on foot, skate boarded by for years without darkening their doors and sampling their wares. Flame Broiler is on the same Island (peninsula?) that also houses a relatively new Starbucks: both across from Glendale college. Today I made a decision to check this joint out and to sample their wares. There are several Flame Broilers around town. This one today was practically empty though the early hour was probably one reason and that it is a college holiday is another. The Physical plant has seating for about 50 people but there is a plaza with tables right outside their door which is shared with other businesses. The Menu is pretty simple and you are offered several choices on what the chicken, Beef or Tofu sits. Meaning: you could order grilled firm Tofu (as i did) and decide if you wanted a veg or white or brown rice or even a combo of both. The Tofu that i ordered as the feature of the bowl (there are 2 sizes of bowl plus an big entree size) i wanted no rice and 100% veg which were well cooked and fresh coin carrots, Broccoli chunks and sliced cabbage. You are offered several sauces: teriyaki, hot sauce which tasted like cholula. The size of the portion is big and the Tofu is well seasoned and broiled. One point is i would have liked to have seen the actual Flame Broiler but everything cooking-wise was behind a wall. The also feature Wings in various order permutations as in a single order or for several people. Pricing is high as is everything these days. My bowl is $9.40. My regular soft drink is $2.80. Service was fast and friendly. I will be back. Cheers!

I've always been a fan of Flame Broiler. I feel like I'm eating healthy fast food. Many options to choose from. Want it with or without veggies? Done! White or brown rice? Done! Chicken or beef? Also done. Want the meat or tofu on a bed of salad instead of rice? DONE! You definitely have to try out all three sauces because your meal isn't complete unless you try it. LOVE THIS PLACE even more so because they joined Five stars. Earn points toward rewards!

It's super clean but without feeling steril. When we sat down, we noticed a nice woman with her mom who was celebrating her 95th birthday and we sat next to them. They were both very sweet and mentioned the items they got and how good everything was. We basically mirrored their dishes and were not disappointed by our choices. Generally, when you're at a Thai restaurant, you can't go wrong when you take advantage of suggestions given to you by two beautiful Thai people. We started off with an appetizer called "Gold Rush" which are 6 crispy, yet chewy wontons that are cooked until golden and then the dipping sauce was a tangy soy vinaigrette which I initially wished had not been taken away with our plates when we were done but any concern I had was soon forgotten when the other dishes came out because everything was so well seasoned that I never once thought, "I wish I still had some of that dipping sauce". We ordered the Laab Chicken which I always crave because so many Thai restaurants don't serve it. But Spice Season offers it and that might have been my favorite dish. I always order it without the rice powder because I don't like the powdery ground rice. I think it's a distraction from everything else in the dish. Our server didn't blink an eye when I asked that it not be included. Next, we ordered the Pad Thai. It was delicious. The noodles are thinner rice noodles (like angel hair) than what I have typically experienced (more like the size of linguini) but I loved the dish overall, would not change a thing and will definitely order it again. Blazing Basil Beef was the next dish that came out. The beef was super tender that night but it did not heat up well the next day. It got tough, even though I heated it up using a very low microwave power setting. This was in no way a reflection on how they cooked this dish because it was perfect when it came out. I will try the Heaven Scent next time or Spice Season Steak in lieu of Blazing Basil but that is not to say I would never order it again - far from it - but we are excited to try other dishes as I have noted further below. Rounded everything out with the Pineapple Fried Rice which I crave just as much as Laab but I'm usually nervous to try it because so many times the rice doesn't have any flavor, or not enough pineapple juice but not the case here! It was delicious! D'oh! I forgot to mention the Matcha Cheesecake which was heavenly. It took me several days to finish that off and unlike the Blazing Basil, it held up fantastically in the fridge for the next few days which is how long it took me to finish it off. Honestly, everything we tried was incredibly fresh, bursting with different flavors and cooked the way we enjoy our Thai food. We were not rushed, and the person who took our order said that we had ordered plenty of food which I appreciated - we do tend to over-order but that's because we eat the leftovers but I thought it was nice that she gave me the "that's probably enough" sign. Last thing I will mention just to help others on the spicy scale, we love our Thai food spicy. I read some reviews where people said the food was not spicy enough. We told our server that we like spicy and that we would leave it up to her - she said that everything would be a 4 out of 5 on the spice scale and while it was perfect for me, my husband thought it was just a tad too spicy but I think he's just out of practice. ;) We will probably go with 3 out of 5 next time, unless I'm alone. Then I would go back to 4 on the spice scale! I'm excited to try the Papaya Salad, Lime Steak Salad, Tom-Yum Fried Rice, Heaven Scent, and Lemongrass Soup. They definitely have a wide variety of food offerings, including things I've never heard of or seen. Something for everyone!

Important to note that! But there are some tables across the street by the fountain, so my friend and I ended up taking our rice balls across the street. We had a variety of rice balls AND their masubi with egg and all was so good. I absolutely loved their masubi and I'm a pretty harsh critic on it. The food here is all fantastic. My only qualm is the staff didn't seem too happy to be there and also didn't offer information on the eats. Good vibes from management trickle down to employees so very important to keep those employees happy so it radiates to the customers! Now with the bop balls assembly, my friend and I know whatsup but I think with others they may be confused getting seaweed separately without a very minimal instruction by staff telling them it needs to be assembled still and they don't do this to keep it fresh. Also, I know the new laws that by default, restaurants don't give napkins or silverware but could they ask us if we needed them? We weren't given any and struggled a bit without. Could be helpful for others based on recent reviews I'm seeing. Overall, now that I know what to expect I think I'd have a better experience in the future! The food is wonderful, just the policies and service need a slight amp up.

It's a comfortable spot with padded banquettes or chairs at the tables, which feature chrome frames and (very good-looking) faux marble tops; along with white walls and light-colored wood accents, the owners have created a clean, simple, welcoming environment. The mood is jostled even further into a specific vibe of calmness with the carefully curated music being played: bossa nova covers of pop hits from bygone days (The Bee Gees' "More Than A Woman" and the Bee Gees'-written Streisand hit, "A Woman In Love" being examples), but it all works. The menu offers a varied selection of dishes from several Asian cultures, from Chinese Beef Rolls to Japanese noodles and soups to Korean Beef over rice. It's not a huge menu, but there's definitely enough there for everyone to find something interesting to eat. The food is all cooked in view of the customers by a staff of chefs working in a sparkling clean kitchen enclosed by windows, and the staff is uniformly friendly despite juggling a lunchtime crowd at the tables plus quite a lot of to-go orders. I tried 2 really enjoyable and satisfying dishes. Beef Rolls featured thinly sliced brisket rolled inside crispy fried crepes with scallion, cilantro and a touch of Hoisin sauce. The brisket had a mild but distinctive flavor that spoke of careful preparation, while the slightly astringent pop from the onions and herbs was a nice foil for the inherent fattiness of the fried crepes. The Hoisin sauce was very subtly deployed, lending tasty support without overwhelming everything else. I added some of the house chili oil for a little extra spice and peppery depth, but these well-made rolls were terrific all by themselves. It should also be noted that the portion is very generous, especially for the price ($12.80), and more than enough for 2 people (perhaps 4 people, if each has 1/2). My other dish was the Qinghai Clear Cold Noodle, a terrific-looking, and even better-tasting blend of thick, chewy noodles, fresh chopped garlic, veggies, tofu and chili sauce that's got a bit of heat but more so a pleasing depth of Chinese spices. This appetizer is packed with flavor and just happens to be Vegan (as are a number of menu items), so it can be enjoyed by anyone. All in all, this was a fantastic mid-week lunch that pleased the senses without breaking the bank, and I even brought some home for later. Do give this Noodle St. a try -- and if you're not in Pasadena, check their website, because they have 8 locations, with a 9th opening soon in Sherman Oaks.

It was a bit greasy, almost like birria, but the meat was tender and the broth tasted like it had been cooking for 48 hours deep, rich, and full of flavor. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the Korean beef. It was way too sweet and didn't really give Korean BBQ flavor. The meat seemed more steamed than grilled, and not even vinegar or chili oil could save it for me. Other than that, everything else was fresh, flavorful, and worth coming back for.
