I wanted to love this place because it's nearby and I like the idea of supporting a smaller business but I won't be going back. I had the Dave's two tender and fry basket plus added on one tender which went uneaten. The service was pretty slow; I noticed many others standing around looking at me with the same feeling I had, "Really? Is the food taking this long?" No sense of urgency and for $24.35 (I added a small soda and 15% tip) I really can't justify going here over places like Raising Cane's. Too expensive for a meal that frankly wasn't very good. The chicken was not moist nor was it crisp. The fries were a poor version of other places that do the crinkle cut. Pickles were medium crispy with good taste but that was about it. Overall, a very poor knock-off of Raising Cane's who if the present rumors are correct, will probably be trying to come to the east valley soon--- If you are over near the Palm Springs airport on Ramon, stop in and try it. I came in to dine for the first time and all tables were dirty, floor was disgusting, service seemed like they didn't want to be there, the girl with long hair who was in front giving the food went to clean all dirty tables and returned to the back to pack food WITH UNWASHED HANDS. This Dave's is a banger. Been here more times than I care to admit. It's not quite as good as Hattie B's in Nashville but it's amazing, especially considering I don't have to hop on a plane to get it. Food comes out quick and they have good customer service. Knocked off a star because sometimes it seems that depending on who's working, the spice level is variable. At first I was skeptical since I spent nearly $20 just for myself for a combo #2 and regular soda however once I received the food it not only looked amazing it was delicious! I chose medium hot which wasn't very hot at all but it had excellent flavor. I wanted to hate this place due to the prices however I'll be returning. Me and my husband ordered the #3 combo, which comes with one chicken tender and a slider. I ordered my chicken with no spice and it was ok. My husband ordered his chicken mild and he said it was waaaay to salty. He only took a bite and that was it he could not eat it. Mine was not spicy, I'm assuming the sauce they use to make them spicy is salty. I gave them 2 stars for the fries. Fries were actually pretty good. I would say both "tenders" were at least 30-40% smaller in size than they have been any other time (from about 8 times) I have eaten here. I ordered the Mac N Cheese and it was very bland. We did not eat the bread and I felt like it was only there to absorb any oil from the chicken. Wanted to say thank you to the professional, kind and respectful Brenda. She had to take over the register to assist in taking me and my sons order this evening after Jose Z had an in appropriate and embarrassing meltdown. We have been really enjoying Dave's Hot Chicken and treating ourselves about once a month and have been telling everyone. Always an exceptional experience with food and staff until tonight with Jose Z. He rang up a couple in front of us not wearing a mask ordering to go. Then it was our turn to order our to go. We were not wearing a mask. Jose is not supposed to be enforcing communism, he's supposed to punch buttons on a register and get chicken orders correct with a gracious attitude. He threw up his hands and left the register leaving us at the counter as he shouted for someone else to take our order. Brenda was mortified and apologized profusely and immediately turned the situating around with professionalism. I don't understand why Jose Z discriminated against my son and myself as he carried on bantering away with the cooks who were by the way, wearing their mask well below their noses and almost to their chin. Make it make sense Jose. He wouldn't even bag up our food and left that to Brenda as well. Enlighten yourself on what's really going on Jose. You do not know if I have a personal belief or health risk preventing me from wearing a suffocating muzzle.
