Not bad, but very limited menu, maybe it's because they're good at what they do. I tried their 2 chicken sandwiches with cheese at their Very Hot spice Level, just one step down from their hottest spice. It's a dry rub spice that hits you in the back of the throat, but doesn't burn the lips. Personally I prefer a Buffalo sauce wet spice. I love spicy foods and the first one had a decent heat to it, got the nose running a bit but was tolerable and delicious. However, the second one was a bit spicier than the first, left me sweating and quickly ordering a milkshake to stop the heartburn before it started. They were able to make a chocolate strawberry mixed milkshake, which was on par with In&Out milkshakes, made with real ice cream and very tasty. The fries also had a Cajun spice and went well with their special sauce. I added honey to the dry rub chicken at my buddy's suggestion, which gave it much needed moisture and a sweet flavor to counterbalance the spicy. Overall it was pretty good but I would've liked a ranch or blue cheese side, neither was available. As for the service, they were quick, attentive and friendly. The place is huge, so I imagine it gets busy, but it was pretty dead when we were there. I liked everything about this place and would probably come back if in the area again. I can't remember if I did a review for them before, would most definitely come back to today's oh yeah the sauce is pretty good too and they have some pretty good crinkle cut fries. So hot chicken is one of my favorite sandwiches ever and I don't think I've truly had a bad one, but they are not all created equally. Some transcend and others check the box. Sadly Dave's is closer to checking the box, here's the break down: Vibes: Customer service was really friendly and helpful! Reminded me to get extra sauce! Decorations are really cool with colorful/artistic graffiti ! Super clean in there as well! Bread/Fixings: Cabbage, pickles, bread, are on point! Fresh and bright. Bread has a good flavor and buttery. Sauce was a Mayo base that was fine but nothing amazing. Fries were good! Chicken: The chicken however, is just ok. Reminded me of a large Wendy's chicken nugget, Which imo Wendy's probably had the best nuggets of the legacy fast food places. A tight crunch almost an over fried/burnt vibe with some dryness to it. It's a classic taste, but in 2021, we've been exposed to higher quality. The seasoning was also way more sweet and sugary (At medium heat). Now as for what i liked: the rub on the chicken was good, very good. they had a variety of flavors depending on how hot you can handle. the sauce... this was one of my favorite parts. even when it was in a packet as well as in a cup on the side, it tasted so good and fresh. it was nice and sweet yet savory. At first glance chicken looked well fried with the batter seasoning giving the crust a reddish color. I went for extra hot which didn't even put any sweat on my head.
