The first time I had this was in Las Vegas and it quickly became a MUST anytime I saw one. I found some in California and went to the Vegas one and was so stoked to see it come to Utah! We have been to Dave's Hot a handful of times now. It's pretty good, and has decent prices. We got some tenders, fries, and Mac n cheese. My kids really like their Mac n cheese (and they are picky). Their fries are consistently good, and their chicken is good, as are their pickles. The last time we went, they put way too much seasoning on the chicken to the point it was super dusty when I picked it up, I would've preferred a tad less, but the flavor is good. My kids got light mild and I got mild. Their pickles are nice and crunchy and their Dave's sauce is decent. You can't be Raising Caines sauce, it's amazing. I have said if you put Dave's chicken with RC's sauce, it would be a match made in heaven. The workers are okay, they could be a bit more outgoing and helpful, but aren't rude. I also wish they had trays. Carrying multiple baskets means you have to make a few trips. That would be my #1 suggestion. Overall the place is good, I wish the music wasn't SO loud as it can be hard to hear, that being said, the music they play is good. read more

Finally a Dave's in SLC! I absolutely hate saying this but I'm originally from CA where there's a Dave's in every town. This one tastes exactly how I remembered it! Tender crispy chicken sliders hot style the way I like it. The fries were seasoned and crispy and go great with some Dave's sauce. The place was super busy but they had the staff to back it up. Friendly staff at the registers and you can hear the cook yell "heard!" when an order comes in. Keep up the good work guys and consider a location in Layton if all goes well. read more

This was kind of way, way unexpected, a chain with actually hot food, as advertised? Now, to be certain, this only really applies if you order the Reaper level, which I strongly advise you to reconsider, unless you're a practicing and experienced chilehead. As one myself, I've tried a lot of different fast food and restaurants offerings in the so called "hot" or "spicy" category. I have a playlist on my YT channel of just that, in fact, including this, and most of those various entries I don't find particularly challenging and furthermore, don't imagine most people would, either. Not the case with the Reaper level heat, for which you have to sign a waiver to get. These strips are coated with Reaper powder and a lot of it, so if you attempt one of these, you will want a pretty high tolerance. I also got the Extra Hot (5th hottest and 1 below Reaper). I will just say, as a foodie, there's not much reason to go past that. It has a very nice flavor, with an interesting bit of sweetness, and a respectable heat level, balancing the two very nicely. Also, I think the strips are intended to go with their sauce, which is kind of this 1000 Island thing that I didn't like very much. Having them by themselves, which is what I tried initially, before also adding the pickles to try to get some moisture into things, will bring to focus how dry they are. The Extra Hot straddles the line between being overly dry and just barely enough moisture. The Reaper, given how much powder it's coated with, goes well past that line, and powder being hydrophilic, will pull the moisture from your mouth, creating its own challenge. I wound up eating the 2nd of these the next day, after first soaking the tender in a hot sauce to try to get more moisture into it, which definitely improved things. The flavor of the Reaper isn't bad or anything, just that I don't love powder so much and the nature of superhots generally means that you have a sliding scale of flavor and it will always tend to get into the bitter and sometimes flowery superhot notes and the predominant focus. This one did that after the window of the first third and then it moved a bit into what I call "mouthful of blast furnace" territory. They also have a cauliflower in their signature breading, which I will be going to try at some point as that seems really interesting. I think there's also fries maybe and kale slaw, neither of which hold much interest for me. Good soda selection on tap but a very limited menu. I have seen some consternation about the price and $4.69/per strip is a touch pricey, but I also got pickles, a piece of Texas toast, and sauce with each one, which softens it a bit. It's hard for me to say that it wasn't worth it, given the uniqueness of what they're doing here. All of their focus is there, on making something that actually stands out and they do that here in spades. I was excited to check out Dave's Hot Chicken once a number of friends recommended it. The Hot Chicken craze is a bit overdone but I'm always open to trying somewhere new. To start, the service was good. I asked them to split a milkshake into two cups for my kids, and they did it without much fuss. I also asked for some extra sauces, and they helped me. Onto the food, I'd say it was OK. I got a spicy chicken sandwich, and while it was spicy, that was the only virtue. It was a bit overcooked, and there was nothing noteworthy about the combination. My husband and I went to new location in Conyers, Ga. The first trip we went on opening day, the food was awesome. My husband went back a few days later and the food was average. One thing that we noticed is the cheese fries barely had cheese on them, and food wasn't that hot. It appears that the staff that came from California left to go back home, so I guess they don't feel the need to give the same type of customer service since all the big wigs are gone. You can choose different levels of spice to your chicken, if you are brave enough try the Reaper! Their Mac and cheese is creamy and perfect! They include extra pickles for no additional charge and let's be honest that's what makes a chicken sandwich a sandwich! You can choose your side they offer coleslaw, fries, Mac and cheese or cheese fries. Chicken sandwiches or tenders to choose from you can have 1,2, 3 or 10! Visiting from out of town and this place looked banging from the reviews/pictures. Ordered a couple chicken Sammy's to the hotel and my oh my they exceeded all expectations. Through Grubhub they came juicy and delectable, I can't imagine how they taste fresh in the restaurant. I was here for a weekend and ordered it twice.
