Stopped by after a fun day at Universal, and once again, had such a great experience! My nephew loves this place. The staff was warm and welcoming from the moment we walked in, and our food came out quickly. Kelly was especially sweet and helpful. I noticed my sandwich was missing the coleslaw, and after I mentioned it, she explained how the kiosk ordering works and brought me a cup of coleslaw without hesitation. That's what I call great customer service! Everyone was so friendly, and another staff member even checked on us while we were eating to make sure everything was okay. I specifically came to this location because I'd come 2 weeks ago and it instigated a surge in hot chicken and spicy cravings for me. We have one being built in my city but lord knows when it will be done. So I have a choice between this location and the one in Northridge. I'd last visited the Northridge location (so that was visit 2 in a week) and so this newest visit on a Sat afternoon I figured the drive would be easier (less traffic) going back to the Noho location. My food quality definitely suffered this time. $60 and a not so long of a wait (no more than 10 minutes) food was tightly packaged and we were on our way. 20-30 minute drive back home. Excited to at least have the fries hot. Knowing these fries are better than Angry Chicks which id also had recently during this crave fest. But they weren't as good as Dave's so I'm back at Dave's. BUT. Soon as we get in the car and rip into our order. Fries are so cold. Dang near starting to petrify they'd started to become hard (makes me think what they do to your stomach if you don't bowel asap!). We had driven all the way down, waited and wanted to ensure we beat traffic back so we just kept the order without going right back in. It wasn't busy at all. When we'd arrived they only had 1 other patron and he was sitting already eating. What it appears is they aren't dropping fries last. The star is the chicken, we get it, but don't have the fries already plated while taking extra time and care to ensure the chicken is perfect. I want my fries piping fresh and hot. This was my first time ordering from this Dave's Hot Chicken location, and unfortunately it was a really disappointing experience. I usually love Dave's Hot Chicken, which is why this surprised me. The location accepted my order late at night and the delivery arrived quickly, in about 20 minutes, which initially seemed great. Unfortunately, the food itself was terrible. Everything tasted old, stale, and thrown together. The order looked messy, like it had been rushed or pieced together from whatever scraps were left at the end of the night. It honestly felt like we paid $30 for leftovers because someone working didn't want to put in the effort to make the food fresh. I've had good experiences with Dave's Hot Chicken before, so this was really frustrating. If a location is going to accept late-night orders, the quality should still reflect the standards customers expect. Note: I placed my order about two hours before closing time. I would understand the food being subpar if I had ordered within the last hour before closing, but that wasn't the case here. Finally made my way to Dave's hot chicken and it did not disappoint. Whether you get the slider or the tender, it's the same cut chicken - a thick juicy tenderloin. Tasty, bread isn't too thick - great kaleslaw, still pretty cheap compared to today's prices. Fries are nice a crispy, didn't expect to devour but I did. Good service, the lady at the counter did her absolute best though she was busy and didn't give busy attitude either. A plus in my book. It's fast food service, fast food decor. Convenient and delicious. I'd go for the 1 slider, 1 tender combo to try both. I had the mild and it wasn't spicy at all. My friend got the hot and she said it was burning. So take it as you will! been coming to this dave's in NoHo for years. Kinda wild thinking how it used to be one of my first lunch spots back when i was still stuck in an office job. So yeah, a little nostalgia every time i stop here. Swung by this morning, just wanted something quick. They've changed stuff -- now you order from a screen. it's fine, just weird tipping a machine, you know? I don't mind tipping people, but a terminal doesn't bring your food or check on you. The food though? Still solid. Got the mild and it still got that kick, the kinda heat that wakes you up. Fries on point, everything came fast, clean tray, clean spot. Stopped by Dave's Hot Chicken around 8:30 p.m. on a Thursday. I ordered over the phone and asked for tissues, but they forgot to include them. Thankfully, I decided to eat inside, so I was able to grab some tissues and a couple of extra sauces--since they only gave me one with the order. I dropped in recently after not having food here and this location in a long while for some take out due to wanting the FALLOUT promotional merch. It was an afternoon and not busy for dine in, Staff member was polite and prompt. Order was ready quick in good timing. For a 10 piece nugget meal at $13.99 the portion was just about right. However quality wise between the 2 meals and flavors I selected, not sure if I was totally pleased. Though fries are not the main event, I remember hot chicken restaurants being pretty generous with fries before food costs went up. As for the chicken, pieces were a mix of varied sizes and then what looked like half to two thirds of a tender broken down to stand out among the serving. Some were slightly burned. And yes it is servable product. Had they not been sauced the chicken could almost be not enjoyable. Other than that, dining area was clean while waiting. For hot chicken I do prefer Dave's over others thus far. Guess it is a matter of timing. read more

When I'm looking for a good, affordable, fast meal, Dave's is a go to! This location has a nice amount of seating, and plenty of street parking around. It can get a bit busy in the evenings, though. Staff is very friendly and helpful. This is some of the best fast food hot chicken I've ever had, I'm always impressed by their consistency and quality. Nothing really beats Dave's when they were in a parking lot on Hollywood Blvd. I am glad to see them come up with multiple brick and mortars but something about a new place just doesn't stick with me. Dave's has some really good chicken strips and there are a lot of new places that are contenting. All have their own little special flava. Personally this location is very inconvenient to get to since its on the corner of Lankershim and Magnolia. I feel there are other places that would rather go to in this area if I was making my ways there. Overall it get pretty popping over the weekends which is great for business and the service is phenomenal. If you have not tried Dave's Hot Chicken, I recommend that you give it a shot at least once at one of their many locations. Also, don't go too spicy. They know how to kick you in the butt! Ends up to apparently be a scam in my opinion by Daves!!! The app opened and QR code open and ready for your turn to get the free slider. If 13 to 15 minutes pass while waiting in line and you are at register ... it ran out of time to be able to be used or opened again cuz time ran out. Screen shots also wont work. I tried the "reaper" level, and let's just say my mouth went on a spontaneous vacation to a lava pit. It was delicious but definitely not for the faint of heart (or anyone with a weak tolerance for heat). The chicken was perfectly cooked and packed with flavor, and the fries were so good I almost asked for a second serving. The only reason I'm holding back that fifth star is because the place is so popular that there was a bit of a wait. But hey, good things come to those who wait (and who can handle a little heat). And my next complaint was that Medium had NO kick to it. It tasted just like a regular chicken sandwich. I love everything about the place and even the presentation of the food. The drink station is self served. The price was reasonable. The Cole slaw in the chicken Sandwich is really good. The bun is very fluffy. The fries are very decent and the seasoning was perfect.
