New spot clean and fresh and the staff was actually very engaged and did a great job (rare in Utah). I'm not a fun of the kale slaw, but still pretty good in the slider. I'd have to say a little pricey, but compared to the SLC independent Nashville hot chicken place, it was a better price and value. And they didn't auto top you!!! (Sorry PB... I was really excited to have another chicken restaurant in the area to try. This specific franchise comes to us from California. They had their grand opening on June 30, so this was the day I decided to give them a try. I was one of their first guests in line. Outside, they had a DJ playing music but that was it. I was kind of shocked there wasn't more excitement. There was no incentive to support their grand opening, other than being the first ones to try it. Typically, other grand openings have shirts, prize wheels, raffles, or at least a little coupon to come back. While I am not heartbroken to have not received this, it just seemed like a bit of an odd grand opening because of this. The line took a long time to move. It definitely could just be because the employees and customers are brand new and could be asking a lot of questions. As I got closer, I was able to read the menu. I was a bit shocked at the lack of variety with the menu. There was no sauces and not a lot of options, other than tenders or sliders. Since this was my first time here, I wanted to get a feel for the menu. So I ordered the slider and the tender combo. I asked if it came with any sauce and he said I could get a ketchup packet lol. My total came out to $13.93, which wasn't bad. However, in hindsight, the quality was lacking and the price was high for how low the quality was. The tender was great with texture, but the taste was bitter. I love spicy things but it wasn't even a spicy factor, it didn't have any flavor and then it had a sting to it. The fries also needed sauce, luckily, the meal did some with a small side of their sauce so this helped. I also did like their pickles. For $13.93, I think it should've not only been better quality, but also come with a drink. That's just my opinion though. Also, why did the tender come on an uncooked piece of bread? I saw an influencer video where she shared a "hack" with toasting the bread at home...how is that a hack? Dairy Queen, Cane's, and everyone else, gives you toast. I am not a duck and I think it is just so weird to give someone a piece of bread. Rolls are good, breadsticks are good, toast is good...but a piece of bread. The inside of the building has a very specific vibe. It reminds me of Subway Surfers or Avril Lavigne's Sk8er Boi. It has a graffiti, California boy vibe to it. The bathrooms followed the same theme. Which is most definitely not my style but I can appreciate it when it is someone else's business that they are leasing out. The service was alright. He was trying his best to be helpful but it was hectic and we were all just trying to figure out what was going on. The parking is decent; I mean, there is plenty of it but there is also cars coming from every which direction so it was kinda iffy at certain times. The bottom line is, the chicken restaurant business is a competitive market. You absolutely have to offer a product that stands out and gives people a reason to pass all the other chicken restaurants on the way to your location. There are many ways to execute this; whether it be by offering better quality, more variety, cheaper pricing, or even something super simple like rewards to incentivize your customers. The bar is being set high for chicken restaurants in the area, and the more chicken restaurants we get, the higher the bar is going. You cannot lack in too many subcategories and you absolutely have to give people as many reasons as possible to want to choose you over everyone else. I don't think Dave's is there but I think they could be. They definitely need to start with making some menu upgrades. Due to everything I just said in the last paragraph, I will likely choose some other places before Dave's. However, I will gladly keep my eye out to see if some things change and will definitely consider going back if something catches my attention. read more

You know the ones? I tried those once. "Salt city" was my initial reaction. To be clear, when you order a #1 you are going to get: -- two chicken tenders that a pretty big. They are covered in granular seasoning (at least). Lots and lots of seasoning. --- fries covered in granular seasoning. The soft opening night was so good, not so busy and absolutely amazing chicken.. Damn this place really lives up to the hype. Delicious juicy hot chicken with excellent flavor and such good dill pickles. I had the medium heat with a tender slider and fries and it was a ton of food. Staff was friendly and ambiance is unique. Tried to order a shake and I guess there milkshake machine is down, normal for a grand opening, when I asked for a water the cashier said they would have to charge me for a soft drink. Pretty crazy to me you can't just get a water. Ordered the slider without pickles and it came with pickles. Staff was kind to fix the situation, but just another mark to make it a not so pleasant first impression. Along with that, there's no ranch, I've never heard of a chicken sandwich place without ranch. The slider is a tender on a bun, it's a solid tender but I felt like I've had much better breasts at other chicken sandwich places. Sauce was almost non existent on the sandwich, breading and cook was good. But overall I'd give the slider a 4/10 compared to other sandwiches I've had. We moved from Nashville 6 years ago and have missed its famous hot chicken. We tried Dave's today, and gave it two thumbs up! I ordered the slider meal; don't let the term "slider" throw you though. This is a full size sandwich! The chicken is to die for, and there's a nice sauce and kale slaw and crisp dill pickles packed inside a toasted bun. It was our first time trying Dave's Hot Chicken and we were so impressed. The chicken sat in our car for 30 minutes and was still super juicy, crispy, and flavorful. The seasoning on the fries was really good too. We loved the sauce and wish we had ordered extra! We LOVED that we were able to choose the spice level on the chicken too. HOLY FREAK THIS IS GOOD!!! We made the long drive from Morgan County to Provo for my son's soccer game and decided on Dave's Hot Chicken after the game. We had never tried it before. Best decision I've made all week! The chicken is perfectly crispy/crusty on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. I like food with a kick but I'm not a sadomasochist, so I went with Medium spicy and it was perfect for me. The crinkle fries were fantastic as well. Crispy yet soft, and nicely seasoned. Seriously, Raising Cane's should send a spy into their kitchen to see how they do it because Cane's fries are terrible. The pickles are delicious too. My wife and son had the mac & cheese and loved it. Word of warning: portions are much bigger than you expect. A single "slider" is as large as a Chick-Fil-A sandwich. Not from Utah and love Dave's hot chicken out of state, it's one of our favorite places. Our experience started out rough at the Orem location when the line was out the door and only one register was open. We understand this place is new but we were waiting for an absurd amount of time. After almost 15-20 min of waiting in the line that didn't seem to be moving we realized it was because the guy at the register was taking an average of 4 min with every customer and was the only one taking orders. We literally timed him. Also there was a girl just standing there next to him not doing anything, it was bizarre. However there was a worker who changed everything for us. His name is Tyrone and we loved him!! The second he jumped on the other register he knocked out orders 3x as fast as the guy next to him. He was also super chill and a great energy in the restaurant. He told us that if we needed anything to just come to him and made us feel awesome. This guy single handedly took care of the rush.
