I ordered the two-meat combo with brisket and chipotle chicken, along with mac and cheese and shoestring fries as my sides. Unfortunately, the sides were the best part of the meal--and that's not a compliment to the meats. The brisket came with a $2 upcharge, but it definitely wasn't worth it. It was extremely dry and lacked any smoky flavor, which is disappointing for a barbecue spot. I had to drown it in sauce just to make it edible. It tasted like it had been sitting under a warming lamp for too long, which might explain the texture and lack of freshness. The chipotle chicken was better--it came pre-mixed with a flavorful sauce, which saved the meal from a lower rating. Still, I left feeling underwhelmed. The restaurant itself is spacious and nicely laid out, but when I arrived, the nearly empty parking lot should have been a red flag. Only two other tables were occupied, and I can't help but think that low traffic might be contributing to slower meat rotation and the dried-out quality I experienced. On a positive note, the staff was friendly and attentive, but unfortunately, that's not enough to bring me back. I had high hopes, but this visit fell flat. read more

The inside is nice. It's a fast casual place. Wasn't sure whether or not it was from the outside. We got the sampler plate, with the brisket, two servings of Tritip, and a full rack of ribs. Our sides were the smasher potatoes, rolls, cucumber and coleslaw. I feel like they only gave us one serving of tritip but the server was unsure and also didn't offer to check for us or help. So hopefully we got the right amount. Looked like the same amount of brisket though we only got one serving of brisket. One half of the rack of ribs were cold, the other was hot. They were really good, nice crust, good flavor. Very delicious. The tritip was super super good. Great flavor and cooked nicely. The brisket was just terrible. It tasted like whatever oven it was cooked in. Had a metal taste. Neither me or my carnivore husband liked it. Coleslaw was yummy. Rolls were warm and yummy but didn't come with butter. The cucumbers tasted good but were very soggy. They should slice them differently to prevent so much sog. Overall, place was nice, meat was okay and service was mid. Nothing special overall. Also, all of their soda was very low on syrup and was disappointing! read more

I I really like the vibe of the restaurant--it has a great layout and is well-maintained. It's a solid spot to satisfy a barbecue craving. While it's not the best barbecue I've ever had, it's definitely good for the price. The brisket has been a little on the dry side during our visits, but still has good flavor. We did have a bit of a long wait, each time we've gone, as well (which would have been fine, had the meat not been on the dryer side). read more

We've been looking for a good BBQ place. This one didn't quite hit the mark. I would be willing to go in and try the food fresh rather than ordering take out to see if that makes a difference. The BBQ baked beans and loaded mash were delicious. The roll and sweet butter were also yummy. My husband says the salad was good. My ribs were extremely dry. They were actually hard to swallow they were so dry. The honey habanero pulled pork was not my favorite. I only had a few bites. The take out containers could use some work. The packaging is sloppy and the small round containers for the mashed potatoes is an odd choice. Like I said, we'd try it again. Maybe they were having an off night. read more

After a very disappointing BBQ dinner at ANOTHER place recently I was eager to get some good BBQ and I was not disappointed! We (my wife and I), split the Sampler for $36. It seemed kinda pricy but we got 4 meat options (we had smoked turkey, pulled pork, tri-tip steak and 1/2 rack of ribs), plus 4 sides (we got coleslaw, baked beans and two mashed potatoes). Plus 3 warm and delicious rolls with cinnamon honey butter. It was all incredibly good! The meats were done to perfection. The rolls were warm and melt-in-your-mouth, the beans were delicious and the mashers were superb. We give a mixed review on the slaw. My wife liked it but I thought it was bland and not all that great. But that didn't take away from the overall meal. This was at the old Applebees place in AF so it's a nice atmosphere. I don't like the noisy industrial ambiance of R&R much. Anyway, I thought this BBQ was equal or even better than R&R or anywhere else. We both ate our fill but had about 1/2 leftover to take home so the $36 didn't seem too much for what amounts to 4 meals for us The only thing I could ding them for is 1) the tables need wiping off. We had to go ask them to do it. It wasn't that busy so this was probably something to train the staff to do more often. And 2) I hate Pepsi and wished they served Coke products instead. We opted for water. Free and better for us anyway. I highly recommend Wallaby's if you want some good BBQ food! read more

Really gotta give these guys 5 star. First time here and was pleasantly surprised. Atmosphere was calm and chill. Service was quick and efficient and food was excellent! Is it the best BBQ you've ever had? No. Was it delicious and complete for what you paid for? Absolutely! The smoked chicken was by far our favorite. We got the sampler and were not disappointed. The half rack was falling off the bone. Mac and cheese isn't the best I've ever had but it got the job done. The smashers (mashed potatoes) were good. The sauces they have weren't that great honestly. My favorite was their sweet when spicy I think it was. Overall, seems like a place that would be fairly consistent and you know what you're going to get. Was pleased and happy with the overall service and food. read more

So, a guy walks in to a "BBQ" joint and at the end, notes the best thing he had was the salad(s). Now, this sort of says something on its own, for any restaurant, but for an actual BBQ restaurant, this becomes more problematic. I can't quite make out what they're trying to go for here. Ambiance is vaguely BBQ-ish, but the menu is kind of all over the place. I will accept the notion that I ordered the wrong thing. Besides the salad, I had a chicken something Chipotle maybe and anytime a place puts Habanero (or higher) on the menu, I'm probably going to try it, so I got a Habanero...pork, I think it was. This particular one was easily the worst thing I had, a sort of foul concoction with lots of squishy fat, almost no meat, no picante to speak of, flavor not great, and overall borderline inedible. The Chipotle chicken was better, in terms of everything the pork was problematic, even though the chicken had a consistency like it had been pre-chewed (I will assume it wasn't). It was far too overly sweet, think along the lines of the Cafe Rio/Costa Vida trash, and nothing I'd care to repeat. There was oddly no smoke flavor at all to anything, including the Chipotle chicken, which was kind of strange. So, there might be something they do well, or at least better (not at all sure I'm too inclined to visit again to find out), but when the salads, which were by far the most pleasant things I had there, are the best a BBQ joint is doing, something is way, way off. read more

Honestly, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here! They had a somewhat large menu with good prices compared to some of the other places I've been to. I ordered a 2 meat plate with the sweet chicken and the smoked turkey. For the sides I had the cucumber salad and the coleslaw. I've been here twice and have been underwhelmed both times. I'm a brisket fan and I wasn't impressed. It was dry and didn't have much flavor. I did get their turkey and that was good. Their loaded smashers (mashed potatoes) were good and their Mac and cheese were different with having a garlicky Parmesan crust sprinkled on top of it. I appreciated being able to sit in the side room where our group of 13 were able to sit together. We have visited this place in the past by yesterday's experience was a super huge disappointment. The Soda machines were all dispensing flat soda ( no fizz) and no one could fix it. We chose a 2 meat plate and only 1 of the meats were even warm, the chicken was 100% cold, they replaced it but we had to wait once more for food. We had 3 adults and 4 children and we went there specifically for the Monday special " kids eat free". But they charged us for each kids meal. We discovered that we had to "ask" for the discount. This was our first time eating at Wallaby's so each of our 4 family members had something different. We found ourselves sharing to try each thing to figure out what we liked best and least. Here are the results (1 Best, 4 Least Favorite) 1. Tri Tip - Everybody loved the tri tip. Tender and flavorful just as you would want it. 2. Habanero Pulled Pork - Not spicy, but had a lot of sweet flavor. 3. Shrimp Skewers - Was just ok. Nothing special to write home about for $15 4. Croc Burger - Just wasn't the family's favorite. It was just an ok burger. Would prefer to get one of the other tasty items on the menu. Overall we will definitely come back to Wallaby's when we are in the area. The food was good and enjoyable. I was not super impressed with their barbecue sauce. It tasted ok, but was very thin (almost watered down) so it took a lot of it to add the additional flavor I look for when eating bbq. read more

I seriously love that I can just call in my order and pay over the phone on my way to the restaurant.y stomach was over joyed to hear that they finally had their smoked Turkey. The employee informed me it still had about 15-20 minutes before it would be up to temperature to let me know the timeframe it would become available. I let her know that I was perfectly fine waiting for it since I had that long of a drive to get there anyways. I got there and parked in a curbside pickup stall, called in, and within 5 minutes they brought my food out to me and I was back on my way home to enjoy my dinner. read more

They are awesome for larger groups, the food came fast and everything was clean and covid free. The meat is tasty and the sides are bomb. I ordered the burger. Maybe that is the wrong thing to get at a BBQ joint but it sounded good. It was the Melbourne Burger. It had some flavor but it was very greasy. The whole burger just felt wet. The bun was moist, everything was dripping off, and there was a few spots that had some bright pink. I was not asked how I wanted it cooked I realized, but it still seemed a little off. The burger I would give a 3 star. Needs some help but I still ate the whole thing. The fries and fry sauce brought it home. Very tasty. I had bits and pieces of other meat dishes. Is this the best bbq I've ever had? No. But, it's fairly inexpensive and the service is awesome! The meat was a bit over cooked but was still tender enough to pull apart and the rolls were so dense I could barely finish one, and momma loves herself some rolls so that's saying something! These are the things you need to get : tri-tip steak, honey habanero pork, lemon pepper chicken, and rolls. Those three meats are amazingly tender and have incredible flavor! And oh my gosh the rolls. THE ROLLS. So big, incredibly soft and the perfect density. Other meats we also like (but don't love) are the brisket, and the wings. Just to preface, we're not picky people, food snobs or religious about barbecue food. But, this place has managed to disappoint on nearly every level. What they did to bone-dry brisket should honestly be a crime, the tri-tip was incredibly salty and seemed to have artificial grill marks on it, the Mac and cheese was more Mac than cheese, the pulled pork wasn't even pulled - like, I honestly thought the chipotle chicken was the pulled pork, the sweet and saucy salad was devoid of any kind of dressing, the "from scratch" rolls taste exactly like Rhodes Rolls from a frozen bag, their "original" barbecue sauce tastes exactly like the stuff you get with your nuggets from Wendy's. It was after 7pm and they interrupted our table to turn on their OPEN sign, which isn't a jab at the employees but more the management of this place. I used to love coming to this place, but the past few times have been a struggle for me. This most recent time, I was excited to eat a big helping of brisket. Unfortunately, what I paid vs what I received was not what I expected. The majority of every slice was pure fat. Don't get me wrong, fat helps with the taste but it should not be more than 70 percent of what you give someone. This has been a reoccurring thing and frankly not something I'm surprised by.
