Alright. If you read my reviews you'll know I don't like chicken - but I LOVE hot chicken. Crazi hot was the go to spot but they closed down. A friend had tried Dave's and said it was a 10/10. Decided to give it a try. The restaurant is clean - plenty of sitting. I ordered the 1. Dave's hot bot (10 tenders) - half hot half extra hot 2. Order of cheese fries 3. Small chocolate shake 4. Mac and cheese 5. Slaw 6. Regular fries 7. Side of pickles I asked for ranch and they don't have ranch..just "Dave's sauce" so -2 points. The tenders were not at at all - which is why you don't need ranch the x-tra hot was a medium. We didn't think the quality of the chicken was that great - we ate 4 tenders and threw the rest in the trash. The Mac and cheese/slaw/ cheese fries all taste like it was bagged from restaurant depot. Me and my girlfriend come here at least 2-3 times a week minimum the app has a great reward system and the staff is always so nice and accommodating. The food here is elite I feel like they have the best chicken sandwiches with their Dave's sauce is amazing. Everyone always suggests this place to me since my favorite hot chicken place closed down.. so was excited to try it out. I feel like people that haven't had really good hot chicken may like it but for my husband and I it was a complete confusing miss. Was super excited to try this place but so disappointed with our food. For one, our food was cold, even when we started eating it right away. Secondly, it had this overbearing weird sweet taste to it that was just plain bad. We both just kept looking at each other like "What is that taste?!" The chicken wasn't hot, just weird tasting and sweet and odd. It did not taste like any hot chicken I've ever had. The fries also had no flavor and almost seemed soggy. They give you these huge (Way too big) tenders with the smallest little tub of sauce. The sauce they give you is probably enough for one tender and a half, but then there's none left for the other tender and fries. If you want more sauce your only option is to spend almost 4$ for a large sauce. Are you really that cheap? Unacceptable to only give one small sauce for a full meal. Also, if chicken is hot people usually also want a cooling sauce like ranch or blue cheese, you really should have another sauce option. (Even if just for some variety) The sauce that came with the chicken was also just sad and not flavorful or craveable at all. This is one of the closest hot chicken joints by us and we won't go because our experience was so bad. We now only go get hot chicken when we travel closer to other restaurants in Phoenix or Tempe. We crave hot chicken like once a week and constantly want it so this was a huge bummer for us. read more

One of my FAVORITE PLACES!!! After hearing about Dave's Hot Chicken, I had to try it out. My first experience was not a good one. Food order was not right... I did not get fries, chicken sandwich came on actual bread instead of the bun. Staff did not inform me of them being out of any product. I decided to give it another try to see if maybe it was just an off night. OH BOY! Am I glad I decided to give it another try. This chicken was tender and delicious!! The service was great and the sandwich was OK, we preferred the tenders! The restaurant seems like there's enough room for seating, however we took our food to go. I gave them 4 stars because we like hot food but the reaper flavor is just a gimmick, it's not actually something that's edible. To have to sign a form because of how hot it is, and your mouth burns for 30 min after trying it. Wouldn't recommend that high heat level, but the other levels were fine. Very unimpressed with both the chicken itself, and their use of fake heat for the supposed reaper sauce. It's the only chicken sandwich that my wife said she'd never eat again, and she loves fried chicken sandwiches. She said she'd rather have the one from McD. The coating is very dense, like dried mud, not the crispy/crunchy that you get from Cain's or KFC. She said it felt like a rock in her gut. I had no reaction like that, but definitely didn't like the texture. I tried the supposed "reaper" only to learn that it was not Carolina Reaper, just distilled capsaicin (pepper spray) with some garlic and paprika. Just junk, not good. It's a stupid "heat challenge" thing and not meant to be good food apparently. I love Carolina Reapers and love very hot things--the heat wasn't the issue. It was the pepper spray heat instead of actual real peppers with flavor. Their fries are fantastic, some of the best ever. read more

I've been to both Dave's hot chicken locations here in Az and with this location being the closest, I can say the service is always great. The chicken is always moist and seasoned to perfection. Most places hit or miss on the fries but Dave's always gets them right by never being soggy or unseasoned. If you want great hot chicken for a fair price, definitely come to Dave's! read more

The fries are also perfectly spiced, though they were a touch soggy. The Mac n cheese was super creamy and also had a touch of spice, and kale slaw was deliciously crunchy! Due to its popularity, we had to stop and try this place. This was our first time trying the Dave's Hot Chicken chain. We arrived around noon on a Saturday and the line was out the door. Once inside, the atmosphere was vibrant with every wall covered in bright colored murals. It was cool. I liked that they had indoor and outdoor seating. This is a true chicken place. Your options are chicken tenders or a chicken slider. Then there's the spice options, which are... no spice, lite mild, mild, medium, hot, extra hot and reaper. The prices seem pretty standard to other chicken places except the fact that the combo's don't come with a drink. That makes no sense to me. So make sure you factor that into the prices. Okay so for the food... the chicken was good and the fries were nice and salty. I order the #3 one tender and slider combo, medium. They do give you a pretty big piece of chicken. I was full after eating the slider and took the tender home. The slider had very little slaw on it and even less sauce. As far as the spice (heat) factor.... my medium tasted like it should've been mild. It only had a slight kick to it. To be honest, I don't understand what all the hype it's. Was it bad, no, but was it the best chicken I've had, no. Excellent Nashville style hot chicken! First time at Dave's, went to a Phoenix, AZ location on Bell Rd. I ordered the Hot (three below the hottest), and it was definitely the hottest I could handle. I sucked down two large ice teas during the meal to keep from bursting into flames. It was also very tender a juicy. I've had Nashville hot chicken in various restaurants in Nashville, and this was definitely on par. The ONLY hot chicken I've had as good as Nashville's. i've eaten here twice now and both times did not disappoint, first time i got medium spicy which wasn't spicy at all and second time i got the extra hot which was way too spicy it was hard to taste anything else on the slider and i couldn't finish it but i wanted to see if i could handle it so i wasn't upset, the customer service here has been lovely every time and the place is clean, the chicken is so crispy alongside the fries, the pickles are some of the best i've had and the mac n cheese is pretty good too, i wasn't too fond of the dave sauce, it just tastes like in n outs but a tad bit more tangy overall the food has been fresh and tasty and it's one of my favorite places to eat now, the prices are reasonable too, 12/10 recommend! read more

Im giving it a one star because -Are you serious you can only order a meal with TWO chicken strips. Thats the only chicken strip meal to order. They have no 3 pce, 4 pce etc. AND if you want to add an extra chicken strip it cost almost 5$ for to add ONE strip! Almost $20 to make a three piece chicken strip meal! And she was going to charge me more for a drink! Drinks not included! What a damn rip off. Id be a fool to come waste my money here again. I purchased the meal this once to see what hype is & the only thing they are good for is robbing people. Its poorly managed at this location should be first order in first order out plus they make you wait off to the side to receive your order online order from a door that they can't see anybody standing at.
