This place needs to be closed down Long John silver's in Maricopa. They have five employees that was walking around chit-chatting and they had three customers one had been waiting 45 minutes for two piece. The manager got into an argument with a customer at the drive-thru because the customer was complaining that it took 30 minutes to get an answer through the drive-thru. I started turning people around because it took 10 minutes to place my order. I must have turned seven customers around. And then it was over 25 minutes to get my order. The shrimp was hard the chicken was cold the fish was still. Another customer came in and started throwing food because it took her 30 minutes to get two piece dark meat and she got the wrong order it was scary it was unsafe it was unprofessional and it was very unclean. This place needs to be closed down. I told the manager I can come back there and cook my own food. I also told the manager if you would stop talking and just serve our food you would be doing a great thing you have chicken up there there's only four of us why is that you are just standing around talking I've never seen or experience anything like it in my 58 years of life. read more

Hadn't been to LJS in quite awhile, so I stopped by due to seeing an advertisement for the $6.00 Chicken Basket. That is what I got. 2 pieces of chicken strips and a side (went with extra hushpuppies). How was it? Bomb, actually! The chicken strips were fresh out of the fryer and piping hot. They had a great crunch and the batter was delicious! The hushpuppies were fantastic, too! I've had plenty of lukewarm hushpuppies over the years from LJS, but today, you could tell they were freshly fried. Hot, crunchy and tasty! I smothered them with malt vinegar and was in heaven! I don't do it often, but after todays visit, I may come back soon. That chicken and hushpuppies was a great combo, and it was only $6.00. Can't beat that! read more

So enjoyed a walk through memory lane with my mother. It was almost as good as I remember as a child which I hadn't found with any of the locations that I tried that limited their menu and added tacos (those are now closed). The fish was delicious and flakey, chicken decent sized planks and the clam strips a seldom found treat. Overall, clean considering the age of the location. We got all the way home and they had forgotten our shrimp, however when I returned they were amazing and quickly acknowledged the miss. Staff was amazing and over compensated for the error. Found a long John silvers in Phoenix area on June 24th. We have none in Tucson. Omg couldn't believe it. Very clean. Went in and was greeted by a very nice young man. He took our order, sat down and he brought us our food with a smile. We were floored when we saw our food, it actually looked like the pictures. In all my years of going out to eat I have never experienced that. Oh and it was as good as it looked as well. I wish I would've taken pictures. But look at the menu what you see is what you get! I must say that we don't have LJS by us so it may have been the lack off or the food was just that good! Don't get me wrong it's greasy fried fast food, but it's greasy fried fast food at its finest. Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon at about 1:30. Place was busy with mostly old timers and one rude middle age gentleman who apparently was in a hurry because he pushed in between two others at the Soda machine. So onto my experience. Place is older, seen better days but it was definitely clean. No spills, no dirty tables, condiments and napkins full. Walk in and a pleasant counter girl took our order. Food arrived hot and fresh in about 5 minutes. Ya-umm. Nothing could have made this food better. I assume the manager brought over a pirate hat for my son. He wore for a quick second for a pic. Eleven year olds are too cool for a paper pirate hat. So why not five stars? Well, an elderly couple about 80 or so came in. They asked for the $7.99 all you can eat Sunday Special. They are told, "sorry we don't honor that!" "Why, its on tv?" Well food costs here are more but I can give it to you for $8.99. They stayed and ate and they did get a military discount. Now I know those types of things have the normal prices vary disclaimer but come on. At least give then a small drink for the discrepancy. We will return to this location, even going out of our way. I havent been to a LJS's in decades. So upon entering we were greeted with the grease aroma in the air. I ordered a 2 piece fish combo. Order was delivered directly to our table. Fish and fries were cooked to a crispy golden brown familiarity that brought me back to my younger years. The only thing missing was the coleslaw. The resturant for the most part very clean the only thing I noticed was something that dripped and dried on the exterior door. Pretty gross. I was highly anticipating this dinner because I love long John silvers and we don't have any in my hometown or Tucson. So visiting here my taste buds let's say we're ready and excited. The food however.. disappointed in a major way. I usually go to the location in casa grande cause it's the closest to my house and that one is spot on for a Taco Bell/ long John but this one on bell rd in phx for only being a long John was weird.. The taste for one.. was wayyy off. It had like a home battered taste you expect but a weird after taste of an old cat box.. disgusting really and it was everything I purchase, shrimp and chicken! It's like the batter was old or the grease maybe but not cute.. I don't want to taste like I'm licking Molby the cat instead of flaky goodness! Get it together. Plus the older lady at the registers hates her life and every chicken piece they put out the door. Not a smile and barely hello more of a what you want attitude and scowl that could make ice melt. Fast forward years later and the combo KFC/LJS shows up In my area of Raleigh,NC. I was thrilled till I are there and found it not to be anything like I remember. Now in Phoenix I thought I would give it one more try. So happy to report this one does it right! It always clean and the staff is friendly with oldies playing which I know my husband enjoys that gives a warm feel to this place. On to the food- it's fresh perfectly cooked from my favorites of chicken, shrimp and fish to items such as baked cod. This store has been around a long time. My family visits it about 4x a year. The food is consistently fresh and you can tell the oil is changed with the proper regularity. The clams strips and crab cakes are truly tasty. I'm partial to the chicken planks and hush puppies. Sometimes we order 2-3 dozen hush puppies for our Super Bowl buffet. I went to the LJS listed as the best by Yelp people (corner of 19th Ave and Bell). I bought the "all you can eat"(*) Sunday special. The place was clean, the staff friendly and helpful. I asked for a mix of fish fillets and chicken breasts, and kernel corn as one of my sides. But they said only french fries, coleslaw or hush puppies were available as sides. That didn't really bother me, as I don't much care for fries, slaw or hush puppies anyway. And more room in my belly for the main attraction. I'd have ordered corn and green beans, were they available. So: I was pleased with my trip. The food was very good. Maybe the best =cheap= seafood I've had. And as I said, the place was clean and the staff was nice. I wound up eating three fish fillets, three chicken breasts and a fountain for $11.8 (including tax) at today's prices [Sun Apr 14]. Given the quality of the food, I'd say that is a bargain. If they would build one closer to me I'd eat there often. But the closest is about a half hour away, so I only get there if I have another reason to be near them, like a doctor's appointment. * I think calling your offer "all you can eat" is a mistake. Ahhhh a clean restaurant! I ate hear because this is my boyfriend's favorite of any of the other locations and it's the only one that is only a Long John Sliver's and not a taco bell or co-branded restaurant. It's their "Flagship" location with Cape Cod style structure (blue roof) and nautical themed decor. Of course we had the fish and chips, I mean c'mon! They took my order with a smile and brought it to my table when it was ready. Who does that anymore? The batter was crispy and food was good. I was most impressed with how clean the condiments on the table were, you almost never see that so it was surprising, in a good way. So please pass the malt vinegar! While we were eating, a hard working employee was cleaning all of the tables with a smile. I can see why this place is so popular. If you haven't checked this place out, I recommend you do. I've never been hear on Talk Like a Pirate Day but I heard it's a big deal at Long John Silver's. Psst...if you like extra crispies (fried batter crumbs) they're on the secret menu.
