This review is long over due. I don't get here very often but every time I'm here the food is cooked to perfection. I just got the gyro and I e been to Greece and this is the best gyro by far!! The pita is warm and tender and the meat taste warm and tender and moist while perfectly seasoned. The topping were fresh with very flavorful take sauce. It was perfection. Last time I was here was maybe 2022. The quality then was definitely not the same quality I experienced today, unfortunately. The food tasted overly salty, the gyro meat was wet with oil, and the salad pieces were almost too chunky to eat without having to cut it up with a knife. The food didn't taste very good, besides the pita and tzatziki sauce. Service was moderately fast, but the dirty water smell that hit my nose the second we walked inside was very gross and overpowering. It really turned my appetite, and I had a difficult time eating my meal. The ice tea quality was also just meh. I think it'll be a long while before I return. read more

We ordered gyro pita and chicken shawarma plate, the amount of proteins were generous, I really liked the pita bread, it's soft and buttery, and the sauces in the wrap combined well with gyro. I picked salad for side, it's refreshing. My husband got chicken shawarma plate, it also came with a pita bread but somehow tasted different from gyro pita, it was a little bit dry. The chicken was good and flavorful. Overall, highly recommend for a quick meal, the staff were also friendly. read more

Really great little gyro restaurant in north Phoenix. The food here is great, very affordable and delicious. And they give you great food and large portions. Unlike other Mediterranean restaurants which sometimes charge twice as much on the meat this place holds back nothing the Gyros are piled high... The pita is fresh and warm, the hummus was excellent and falafel was light and airy and flavorful.. Service at the restaurant was great. There were no issues. They're very polite and helpful. I ordered the lamb and beef gyro sandwich fully loaded with side of falafel and a lamb sandwich with a side of falafel both were excellent. And as I stated before they spare no substitutes when it comes to the portions, you certainly get your moneys worth here. This is a great little casual eatery. I highly recommend coming here. Excellent,! Stopped in for lunch and what a pleasant experience. We both ordered a Gyro sandwich and agree it's one of the best we've had in the Phoenix area. Delicious pita, stuffed with plenty of gyro meat, onions and taziki sauce. I passed on the tomato but my guest enjoyed theirs. $16 after tax for a meal, sandwich, fries which were really good and a drink. Highly recommend this place and we will be back. read more

Absolutely the best gyros we have had here in Phoenix. Very Generous portion of seasoned meat, day fresh onions and tomato's, along with a delicious tzatziki sauce. After trying probably a dozen different restaurants for a top notch gyro sandwich, JJs bring back that delicious memory from that authentic Greek folks made special gyros of 45 years ago. This will now be our go to place for Mediterranean food. Takeout and waited maybe 5 minutes, and service was awesome. Well worth it. Deserves 10 stars. read more

This place has become one of the regular lunch rotation spots for my whole work team. We go at least once a week. There's something for everyone and the flavors are always a hit. My go to meal is the chicken shawarma pita with rice on the side. Too big to pick up at first until I eat some of the meat and veggies with a fork. read more

My gyro was so good. The meat was great. I do wish there was more tzatziki and veggies, but that's ok. The dolmades are great, the Greek dressing was good. I was sad they didn't have an tabouli salad :/ so I tried their rice instead. Was not impressed with the rice. Tasted like boxed rice honestly. The service was nice. I liked the feel of the place. We were here for lunch with colleagues while on a business trip. Service was slow but that was probably due to the sudden arrival of our large group (~12). I was one of first to order and last to receive my order. I think they lost my order as they came out to check on my order. I ordered a gyro with side of fries. I figured it was best to order the namesake of the restaurant. The gyro was packed with lots of meat. Can't complain about quantity. Gyro meat is heavily seasoned, which can greatly affect flavor between different recipes. I found this version of gyro meat to be simply "ok." It didn't taste bad, but wasn't phenomenal. The best gyro places are crave worthy, and this did not meat that standard. The fries were pretty good though. The restaurant is cozy. There are a few tables to eat indoors and more tables outdoors. read more

FAST!!! Walked right in an went up to the counter to order. For covid precautions, they are wearing masks and have a plastic divider up. This made it kind of hard to hear at times. The cashier was friendly and recommended the chicken shawarma. Once I ordered, the food was on my table within two minutes. The shawarma was good and had plenty of tzatziki. Nothing about it set itself apart from any other standard shawarma pita. Overall, this a good place if you need food fast while not wanting drive thru quality. read more

After running up Tom Thumb trail, it was time to eat. Heard this place was good, so thought it would be perfect to pick it up on the way back to the hotel. I ordered the Baba Ghanouj with charbroiled eggplant blended with tahini sauce, fresh garlic and lemon, along with a Greek salad and Gyro plate that is mixture of deliciously tender seasoned beef and lamb broiled on a vertical skewer, thinly sliced and layered with onions, tomatoes and tzatziki sauce. My recommendation is to get all lamb. The flavor and texture is better. It wasn't enough to knock a star off the review. The food was incredible and enough for me to have lunch the next day. The Ghanouj paired well with the pita and the service when I ordered was very friendly. This place is worth trying out!! read more

This place is right across the street from where I work. My buddy who sits next to me brought some of this back a few times, and it always looked good. Finally decided to head over and try it myself. I went with a chicken shwarma sandwich and fries. It was right around $8.00 for the sandwich and fries. Sandwich was STUFFED with chicken. So much so that I had to remove a lot of it in order to even pick it up and eat. Nothing wrong with that! The chicken was flavored nicely with different Greek/Mediterranean spices. The sandwich comes with lettuce, tomato and some tzatziki sauce and stuffed into a huge, warm slice of their pita type bread. It was tasty! The fries that came with it were a seasoned fry and they were extra crispy and soft in the middle. Really, really good fries. Service was friendly at the counter and the price was great for the large portion. I will definitely be back since it's so close to work. read more

Let me first by saying, the recent one star reviews seem very suspect! Don't believe these bogus reviews. I have been a police officer now for 34 years and during that time I have been able to eat at 100's if not thousands of restaurants valley wide. I started going to JJ's back in 2016 and from then to now the service and food is just amazing! This family owned Greek restaurant always serves up the best dishes, no matter what you order. Also, they still have the same employees working now as they did in 2016!!! If you see police eating at a restaurant that's a good thing. II cant remember when I had a gyro but the craving the other day was overwhelming. I checked out trusty Yelp for the closet Gyro place from home and I stumbled across JJ's. I placed a on line order and hubby was able to pick up on the way from work. He mentioned when he picked up the establishment was clean and the staff were friendly. Prices were comparable to other places. The gyros were monstrous! They were hot and tasty. I got the side salad and hubby got the rice as a side. Salad was simple but good. No need for the dressing, IMO. My husbands rice was very good as well. JJ's will definitely be in our carryout rotation! Just be aware they do close a bit early(7pm) so plan accordingly . But get a gyro from JJ's people!! read more

Junk. The gyro meat was the only decent part. The tzatziki was terrible, basically just sour cream with no cucumber, dill, lemon, or garlic taste. Actually the worst tzatziki I've ever had. Was applied way way too heavy too. Maybe it was just a bad batch and they were trying to get rid of it, but definitely terrible. The pita was ok. The fries are a very small side, you get maybe a dozen of them total. Only recommend it if you're starving. Az Kebab House, Pita Cafe, or Green Corner are MUCH better options. read more

I never write reviews but I had to for this place!! My boyfriend comes here for lunch a lot and always gives it so much praise and I finally got to try it! He is absolutely right. We got the chicken shawarma and it was so good!! One of the lady cooks was also very very nice. I asked for hummus but they did not have anymore since it was almost closing time and she came out and told us and was just very sweet. I highly recommend this place!! read more

This is hands dow the BEST gyro joint in the valley. The staff are very helpful and friendly making you feel completely welcome. The gyro meat is well seasoned, pita bread is crisp, fluffy and buttery. The icing on the cake is their prices, super affordable and we usually never spend more than $20 for two people. JJ's Gyros is amazing! As with most Saturdays I carry in lunch. I driven by JJ's many times, but never ordered. We're so glad we did. There was a little confusion on my part with the menu. I wasn't sure what came with the Gyro Plate, but a quick phone call sorted everything out. By the way the plates come with rice and a side salad, but they will graciously make reasonable adjustments. Ultimately I decided on the large salad with Chicken Shawarma. It was delicious! Fresh ingredients, dressing on the side and efficient service. I really enjoy this place but there is ONE thing that gets me and my friends who eat there at least once a month. Its almost AUGUST 2023 and the owner is still wearing a surgical mask and forcing people to talk to the cashier through a plexiglass shield. Wish that the owner would wake up and re-join society.
