It's clearly a chain, but somehow I'd never heard of it before. Lucky me, because I had no idea what a treat I was in for. I placed my to-go order at the self-service kiosk and waited about 10 minutes in a lively dining room covered in colorful graffiti-style artwork while an eclectic mix of rock and country music played in the background. When my name was called, the real experience began once I got back to my car. First, the fries. They were perfectly golden, crispy, crunchy, and seasoned just right. I dipped them into what I quickly learned is Dave's famous, highly coveted sauce, and the combination was absolutely delicious. I'm not a big bread person and I'm notorious for deconstructing my sandwiches, so I took the chicken from the slider--more like an oversized, juicy chicken tender than a nugget--dipped it in the sauce, and paired it with the fries. Delicious and flavorful chicken tenders! Hard not to compare this place to Raising Cane's... it has the same type of feel- very casual, urban vibe. I ordered the chicken slider/chicken tender combo with mild and medium spice for the chicken. Both were mildly spicy and very delicious. The chicken slider was my favorite. Came with kale-slaw, Dave's sauce pickles on a soft roll. It would have been better if the roll was toasted but it still was very tasty as is. My son ordered the 2 chicken combo in medium and hot and he said the hot was not too hot, so next time maybe we'll bump it up and order the REAPER (highest level of SPICY) and legend has it that in order to be served this you must sign a waiver!!! Not sure if I'm ready for that level of spicy. Fries were piping hot and perfectly seasoned with the right amount of crunch. Service was prompt and friendly. For 2 combos and 2 bottled waters it ended up being just short of $40, The eating area was clean, spacious with plenty of room to move about. My only complaint is the ladies restroom did not have toilet seat covers and I would have preferred paper towels versus the air blower after washing your hands. Went for dinner today, the server totally messed up the order. Was not happy after spending $28- We were ready to leave, when approached by another person who asked why we didn't like the Mac n cheese. We explained, it wasn't what we wanted, she was very compassionate in listening to us. She then offered to remake the dish , so we could take it home with us. Well she did just that, it looked so good. We were surprised & very pleased with her customer service & support. We did learn, her name was Lupe, she's the manager there at the spot. I work at PG&E right down the street in Concord, I came over here for a quick lunch craving some spicy chicken. I've never had these hot chicken before, I was looking at the menu and the young lady behind the register was so helpful and so sweet! She saw that I looked a little overwhelmed from the menu and she told me all the specials everything they have and where to look at for what I was craving, her name was Alexis! she was super sweet. Tried a couple meals here via takeout for lunch one day. Online ordering was straight forward and didn't run into any issues there. I really appreciated there was an option to select different spice levels if there was more than one item in the meal (for example, if you order the 2 sliders meal, you get to select a different spice level for each). Store was clean, and the pick up was easy. Good amount of food for the price as well! I tried their slider and tender meal combo, and the husband got the 2 sliders combo. We shared the fries and the slaw. I got hot for mine since I love spice and wanted to get a gage on how spicy Dave's Hot Chicken was and used hot as a starting point. Turns out it wasn't as hot as I thought it would be, so next time I'm going to get extra hot and reaper! My friends and I met up and we decided to come here for dinner. I have never been here before, but the menu looks rather simple to order from. Besides their other specials, you have about 4 menu combos to choose from. I opted for both a tender/strip and a slider so I can enjoy one of each. Slider and Strip: I got medium spicy and it packed quite a kick to it. The chicken itself was juicy and moist and quite flavorful. The house sauce is a good dipping sauce for the chicken. Also, adding honey yourself gave it a sweet profile that I truly enjoyed the slider was also good and delicious. The crunchy slaw paired well with the crispiness of the chicken street. The sauce was not overbearing and the bun was not soggy for me. And as for the fries, I love Krinkle style fries, so that was a plus. As a side note, my friend for the ghost pepper seasoning. Okay, I admit it. I've been sleepin on Dave's. I really wasn't expecting a whole lot. I love chicken sandos, but these chicken tender places don't typically do it for me. Dave's had me eating my words. The parking lot for this location is craaaazy. People can not drive, and it's just super congested so just be careful when you're coming through. The location has ample seating for small groups. If you have a lot of people, you most likely won't be able to sit together. The customer service here is just WOW. They are soooo nice here! It's unreal. They're just all around pleasant and helpful, and didn't even bat an eye when I mentioned my daughter spilled her water on the floor. They were just quick to take care of it, and without any attitude. BLESS! I went with the #3 combo which is 1 tender, 1 slider, and fries but next time I'm sticking with the two slider combo because that slider was chef's kiss. The slider comes with one fat tender, some pickles and sweet kale slaw but you do have to do a little bit of work to get it right. For the best experience, you gotta add some Dave's sauce and honey drizzle. Thank me later! If you're extra extra like me, make sure you throw some mac n cheese on that bite too. You'll be hittin that little happy food dance :) The fries are so whatever to me. They're crinkle, crispy, but nothing special. The spice levels here are a little misleading. The slider and Mac and cheese were delicious but I wouldn't order anything reaper level unless you want to torture yourself. Plenty of parking is around and the location is clean and completely renovated. The staff is very attentive. Now for the food. Dave's Hot Chicken has a very simple menu and their combos are great deals! I came with my husband and we shared a #2 Combo, which comes with 2 sliders and fries. We also added a single tender and the tender comes with bread. It was perfect for us. For our combo, we chose medium and hot spice level. I would say the medium is not spicy at all. Hot has a good kick; my husband opted for extra hot for the tender and that was too much for me. The seasoning of the chicken is perfect. I've tried fried chicken at other places and Dave's has the best seasoning recipe. I do have to say though after trying the Oakland location, the chicken at this location was pretty small compared to other places. I wonder if it was because we came during their soft opening. I ordered the #2 combo with no spice. I got the slider with slaw, tenders for my son, and Dave's sauce on the side. Overall, the chicken was good, no complaints there. The slider with the slaw hit the spot, and I've tried it with medium spice since then, which was actually way better than I thought. However, I ran into a bit of an issue with the sauce. I asked for more sauce and was pretty much told no, but the person helping me eventually gave me one to be "nice." Felt a little talked down to during the exchange, which was unnecessary. If it's that big of a deal, I'll just buy more sauce next time so I don't have to deal with the attitude. If there is one thing in this world I can afford, its more sauce. Now that I'm thinking about it, I would recommend just buying extra sauce when you initially order. It will cut down on the awkwardness that comes with asking for more sauce later on. One tip: please don't serve dry bread without some kind of mayo or more sauce--it makes a big difference. Also, the kale slaw? Easily the worst slaw I've ever had. Well what up peeps!!! Yes yours truly is at Dave's hot chicken in concord. Okay I'm super happy to say no long line out the door so yes starting off great. Today out cashier was Elham she was super nice and asked if this was our first time at the restaurant and of course we said "yes" she welcomed us with a huge smile and asked how we were and if we needed some input on what chicken spice level to order. Me of course I went with the lite mild wife and kiddos got no spice. No drink included which was a bummer but it's okay cuz we are taking this food home and enjoying it with juice and soda so we good. Overall the place looks clean and organized not a lot of heavy foot traffic which is great the decoration is amazing walls are all decorated with art. I have been vegetarian for nearly my entire life, and I got chicken instead of cauliflower when I clearly ordered cauliflower. If you are vegetarian or vegan, or allergic to meat, do NOT eat at this location, because they will mess up your order. Thankfully my boyfriend eats chicken so I was able to give him my meal so it didn't go to waste, but before I realized it was chicken I took an entire bite after nearly 12 years of not eating meat.
