Today was my 1st time trying Dave's Hot Chicken and I liked it! I used the Drive-thru; the menu is straightforward and it was nice not to have a million choices over which to debate. I chose the X-Men meal, which came with a chicken slider, crinkle-cut fries, pickle slices, a side of Dave's sauce and an X-Men figurine. I love the crispiness and flavor of the chicken but will probably order tenders or nuggets in the future since I felt the buns and greens overpowered the chicken a bit. The fries were hot and crispy and Dave's ranch complemented them nicely. I ordered the slider with no spice so cannot comment on the how the heat level was. I also ordered a chocolate shake. That hit the spot and I liked the thick consistency. The service was great. Maria could tell it was my 1st time there and guided me in the right direction when it came to choosing sauces and sides. I like the decorative exterior paint and the logo. The only thing I'd change is the price-the kids meal and shake cost over $21 including tax. I'll return to try the tenders. Thanks! read more

I've heard a lot of mixed reviews so I had to check it out! The service was really good. The kid at the counter knew it was my first time and explained some popular items he recommended. So I ordered some tenders, fries, buffalo fries and mozzarella sticks. It was decent. The tenders are surprisingly spicy even for mild! I was kinda shocked how much seasoning it had... a little too much for me. I do appreciate the quality of the chicken as it was "real" chicken, not that fake meat lol. The mozzarella sticks also just ok... too much seasoning but it had a fun cheese pull. The only item I loved was the buffalo fries! YUM. Seriously, Buffalo fries WITH mac n cheese on top!!!!! So good! Inside had a cool vibe, love the art on the walls. It was a little dirty but they were very busy so i understand. It was just ok.. not my first spot for a chicken spot but I didn't hate it either. Next time I may just order a large buffalo fry! Only thing missing on that would be blue cheese. I don't usually leave reviews for drive thru places but Amara was worth mentioning. It was a long day for me and my woman and we were here about 20 minutes before closing, but Amara was super sweet and helpful with the menu regardless of our timing. She had accidentally handed me a sprite instead of the diet coke i had originally ordered, and she fixed it right away without me having to correct her. were human we make mistakes, but catching them immediately is another thing. also want to mention she included a generous amount of all sauces, which I appreciate as a sauce fanatic. I saw a commercial today that said Dave's brought back the Not Chicken (cauliflower) bites. So, decided to try Dave's for the first time. I got a chicken slider, which I devoured. Chicken was juicy and the slider was a good size for a not so big appetite. I ordered medium heat. As someone who can handle spicy, I can definitely try hot next time. Sooo good. My son and I finally tried Dave's and I must say we absolutely loved it. It's now our favorite spot for fried chicken. The seasonings on each piece of chicken is so flavorful. We both love spice and flavor and they do not disappointment. We also love the new mozzarella sticks (I find them better than Chili's). The theme inside is fun and edgy. It's always been clean when we are there! Each time we go, the servers are always kind and working quickly to get your order together. First timer here. Went through drive thru. It took roughly 30 minutes. There were lots of people since Dave's were giving free slider on the app. Ordered two number 2 in medium, one hot, and one reaper (you have to sign a consent). Redeemed the free slider for a non spice. The kiddos used their own app coupon and redeemed mild level (not in photo). If you're someone who eat spicy and has a high spice tolerance medium and mild is nothing. They could barely taste the spice and regretted not ordering hot. Hot was not spicy but it will give a taste of the spice. Reaper should really be a creeper . The spice has a delay kick. Kiddos needed lots of milk. My spice tolerance is not crazy high but I was fine afterwards. Chicken overall was not bad. Sandwiches were okay size. French fries were okay. Thankfully not soggy by the time we got home. 34minute wait through drive thru! While I was waiting, I called the restaurant to ask about the delay. The employee explained they were behind because every order is made fresh and asked if I would accept a complimentary milkshake for the inconvenience. I respectfully declined because I don't drink milkshakes and simply wanted to speak with the manager when I reached the window. He said she couldn't talk and would speak to me at window- waited an additional 7min. When I spoke with the manager, Maria, she explained they were short-staffed due to employee call-outs. I completely understand that staffing issues happen. I worked in the restaurant industry for years, so I know these situations can occur. However, staffing shortages are an internal operational issue and should not result in customers waiting 34 minutes in a drive-thru with little communication. Maria did apologize and offered 50% off my order, which I accepted and appreciated. However, after a 34-minute wait while trapped in the drive-thru with my toddler, I don't believe that fully addressed the inconvenience. In the time I spent waiting, I could have driven home and back. While I appreciate that an effort was made, I believe a more appropriate recovery should have been offered given the length of the delay and the circumstances. My concern is not with the employees who were working hard under difficult conditions. It is with the company's handling of situations like this. Customers should not bear the burden of operational issues such as staffing shortages, and there should be a better plan in place for communicating delays and making things right when waits become excessive. read more

I bought into the hype I have been seeing on the chilihead forums and gave this chain a shot. Can't speak to the dining area of the place itself because I have only ordered delivery through them. I will say of the half dozen times I have ordered from them, the chicken and fries have been cooked perfect every time. A+ for consistency. On to the chicken, I usually order the 2 strips and fries. For all my fellow chiliheads, yes the reaper is technically the spiciest one but it is all heat and not too much else going on with it. If you are just a straight masochist, order the reaper but my recommendation is just go for the extra hot, it has PLENTY of pain but the secret "sauce" here is brown sugar and man does it make me just keep stuffing this pain into my face, SO GOOD. My only real complaint is why do they only give you one 2oz cup of the dipping sauce? That's BARELY enough for one strip and I still have a whole other strip AND fries to eat. So yeah, they live up to the hype and although there is a better "level 5" hot chicken in town, Dave's is consistent with the quality, the other place is not. read more
