This review is specifically for the florist at Dave's Marketplace in Smithfield Crossings. I stopped in to order a boutonniere for my daughter's prom date and Sharon was so incredibly helpful. She listened to what I wanted, and when I showed her a photo of my daughter's dress, she made great suggestions. The next day, I was surprised to receive a phone call from Sharon. It turned out that my daughter's date had also ordered a prom flowers at Dave's and Sharon was calling to ask if it would be ok if she deviated a little from what we had discussed so that their boutonniere and bouquet could match. I oof course said yes, and I was so impressed that Sharon had taken time to call me and I was equally impressed with how much thought she was putting into the flowers. Both the bouquet and the boutonniere were absolutely beautiful with dainty lavender roses, white hydrangeas, lovely accent greens, and a beautiful bow. The service I received here and the quality of the flowers was outstanding - far better than some full service florists. I'll definitely be going back here for future dance flowers, and I'd like to give a huge shoutout to Sharon for her thoughtfulness and the beautiful flowers she provided for prom. read more

Dave's is my favorite local supermarket. They have everything you need in one stop! Their deli is the best in the state with great service and samples if you ask. The fresh seafood selection as well as butcher section are fantastic! I enjoy their meats like steaks and pre-made burger patties. This particular location is always clean and well stocked and I like that they have free fresh coffee while you shop. This particular location is like a plussed up version of what Whole Foods USED to be, except it doesn't even compare now- it's FANTASTIC! This is my go to market to get my weekly groceries! I love Dave's! They always have great sales and they have a lot of options for local food! For example, they carry Wright's Dairy Farm milk and select pastries, they have local pasta sauces and salad dressings, local baked goods from Navad, etc. The produce is always beautiful and high quality and the staff work really hard to put the produce out in an organized, beautiful way. They have great prepared food. They have a hot bar, soup bar, pizza area, and sushi area for food to eat now and they also have prepared foods near the deli that are more take home and heat and eat. The only downside is the parking lot is not the greatest. The plaza can be very busy, people drive like nuts, and the layout isn't the best. read more

Love the soups, flatbread pizzas, ck hot bar, cold bar foods and prepackaged fully ready to eat meals just needing to be warmed up. What I HATE tho is they have no organization when it comes to the pizza/hot bar area depending on how is working... there's a ticket machine but many times they don't go by the ticket numbers you draw.. they also don't switch numbers on the board and it's not accurate... board will say 65 and people are drawing 80 lol. They won't call you by number either.. just randomly look around at the crowd expecting to see someone raise a hand for customers to be responsible to keep track of who's next which is impossible when busy as customers coming at all angles.... Which brings me to my next point, there's a line in front of the pizza area but people will stand in front of ck hot bar too so there's no rhyme or reason to the way they decide who's next. If you must go to Dave's Marketplace I recommend that you go early to avoid the crowds. Also, if you go early you'll see interesting things like an entire grocery carriage filled with green bell peppers. You won't get that kind of showmanship at Stop & Shop! read more

Greatest supermarket ever! They have EVERYTHING!!! So many things other stores don't, plus many many varieties of all the regular things! So awesome! And you always get through quick with super speedy lines! Only one epic giant complaint: the door to get in and out is the same small door. It's always a clusterfuck! Day or night, any time you go. A total failure of an entrance/exit. F- to that. A+ to everything else. Please just add another door. It's such an easy fix. read more

This review is for the prepared food. Every time I see a commercial or advertisement for the prepped stuff, it looks great. But every time we eat it, we usually are left disappointed. Not just the lunch and small meals to-go. We opted for their thanksgiving pre-order to-go this year too and it was underwhelming and in some cases funny- the roasted carrots were legit a pack of baby carrots in a pan without any flavor. On a positive note, the seafood guys were always helpful here but I would just go to Daily catch down the street or Whole foods seafood if given the choice. read more

It's a good store. Just things have changed, when they were just starting at this location. The bakery section had these jumbo cupcakes that were stacked full of buttercream frosting in various colors! I especially love fro chocolate cupcake with the buttercream. They were such good quality. But I noticed over the years, the amount of frosting on the cupcakes got smaller. Now they don't even do that kind of cupcake anymore. The most "normal one" they have I've seen is a yellow cupcake with white frosting. I personally cannot stand white on white cake it's too much sugar and it's way too sweet for my liking, but to each their own. Everything is still a great quality. I just wish at some point they'd go back to doing jumbo chocolate cupcakes with all that icing on top. It's good for someone looking to satisfy that sweet tooth, without having to buy a whole cake or a multi pack of cupcakes. The gourmet options ain't it for me. read more

Pleasantly surprised on my first visit to the Dave's Marketplace in Smithfield, RI! It feels like a Whole Foods meets a Roche Brothers! In keeping with this, the produce looks super fresh along with the prep foods selection and bakery. They do a great job representing local RI companies--I grabbed lettuce from Gotham Greens (Providence) and red wine biscuits from D.Palmieri's Bakery (Johnston). Price-wise, it depends, some items are less expensive and some items are more expensive than the large grocery chains--worth shopping all the same to see what you can find! read more

What can I say about Dave's Marketplace? They are a small local chain of independent supermarkets here in Rhode Island, that doesn't have the buying power of the major league multistate chains. But that doesn't mean this isn't the place to do your shopping or dining. They have a great array of grocery products in each of their stores, they have the best floral department I've ever been to hands-down with flowers that last literally for up to a month, after you bring them home, the stores are immaculately clean, the service is top-notch, but because of the lack of buying power, groceries here are slightly more expensive than the big chains, but not by much. One of the things that draws me here regularly is the prepared food that they make in-house and have available every single day. Pizzas, sandwiches, calzones, soups, Fried chicken, the list goes on. Today's visit ended up with me buying a pesto chicken sandwich and a cup of Italian wedding soup. Both were fresh and delicious and exactly what I needed to squelch my hunger pain. Once you get past the registers, they have an entire row of booths and tables where you can sit down and dine on the food that you just purchased from the prepared food section and deli counter if you so desire. Today, I so desired because I also had a little bit of grocery shopping to do after I ate my meal. My girlfriend and I were headed to her parents house later on but instead of eating the food her father offered to pick up from one of the local pizza places that he intends to go to to get takeout tonight, we purchased our own meals from the prepared food section to bring with us and heat up there. There is a huge amount of choices in the prepared food section and if I ate here for two weeks straight, I couldn't possibly sample every type of food they offer. This is a great place to shop no matter which location you go to, and the prepared foods are the same at each location to the best of my knowledge. I highly recommend this place! read more

This is the store I go to when I have a few things to pick up or when I want to get some ready to go take out. The produce is always good. I'm happy with the deli and bakery also. The atmosphere is super lovely for a grocery store - I do like the local photos. Not the cheapest place in town, so I don't usually get all my shopping done here. But it is convenient. The staff is always friendly and helpful. It has that local feel. Don't forget to get your free coffee or tea in the back and stop by customer service for a cookie for your kid. :) read more

This market is truly a pleasure to visit and browse, and buy top quality food at fair prices. I always make the mistake of going to a market on an empty stomach. You all KNOW, you go in for a few things, and leave with a lot more (did I really need the chocolate chip cannoli and Heath Bar Crunch Brownie??) No. But their pastry department is sweeeeet and you Only Live Once, Right?? Everything is always nicely organized. There's a fresh pizza area, fresh sushi counter, and countess prepared foods, huge cheese area, meats.. I could go on. But I'm getting hungry and getting ready to grill the fabulous rib eye steak I bought (to eat with that cannoli). Must say this small market does well for being so small. It seems as though this market is on the healthier side but pricier than other markets. This market is SOOOOOO clean , like extremely clean! I have been here numerous times and never saw anything on the floor , or even out of place. The lines are never long and the employees are fast and very caring. I come here often for the 3.99 a dozen little neck clams , they're amazing and for the price you can't beat it. I know I said the employees are nice, but the seafood workers are beyond amazing always smiling and always willing to answer questions and help. I would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a clean environment and a market that they aren't bumping into rude people the whole time. read more

Went to Dave's for some cod and was disappointed with the service today. Usually have a good experience when I go to the fish department, but today was different. It seems that there was a water main problem and the server couldn't get my cod for whatever reason. I had to wait for the fish manager which was only a few minutes. I greeted him and there was no response. I told him what I wanted but he just pulled two pieces from the case. They usually ask if I wanted a particular piece, but he just grabbed two pieces and threw them on the scale. I asked for less and he replaced it with pretty much the same size piece so I just took it, I can freeze one. I'm hoping that his attitude was a result of the water main problem and the busy season. He was not a happy guy, seemed like he didn'twant to be there. The fish was smelly but it was okay when I rinsed it off. Not a great shopping experience for me today. I get all my seafood at Dave's and never had a problem so ill see what happens next visit. read more

Modern Market Local Feel Dave's is probably the best larger scale supermarket in Rhode Island. The market always has fresh produce and meats and the deli is pretty amazing. Today I went shopping in Dave's Market in the Smithfield Plaza. I picked up a can of RediWhip in which there was a large sign saying the price was 2 for $6.00. When I checked out it rang up at $4.59 a can. I went to the customer service desk and spoke with someone. I even took the person to show them the sign. Dave's refused to honor the price even though the sign was right there. One of the employees said that was a sale but it is not on sale now. I was extremely disappointed they would not honor the sale price. In my opinion that is extremely poor customer service. My next shopping trip will be to a different grocery store, not Dave's Market. read more

We love Dave's! Their meats and produce are always so fresh! We stop here at least once a week! Their prepared foods are delicious too! Our favorite place to swing by is the deli! My kids are always treated wonderfully there! They have made great friends with Alan, Scott, Vinny and Bob, to name a few! They look forward to seeing who's working that day so they can say HELLO! I go to Dave's for their meats which are top quality. My only complaint is that the aisles are too small and are always crowded

I like Dave's, depending on what I am looking to buy. I am closer to the Cumberland location, but I come to this location for one reason: Coffee. The bf and I really like Mills Coffee, local roasters from Providence. Dave's carries their coffee beans. The Cumberland location has them pre-packaged and the bags really don't tell you much other than what flavor is within. This location however, has them in tubes on a big wall with empty bags for you to fill up yourself that allows you to choose how much coffee you get, and not only that but there are little guides right on each one with that tell you how strong, bold, and aromatic each different variety is, which we love. They also carry a specific flavor of Grafton cheese here that my boyfriend enjoys, which Whole foods does not even though they carry the brand. So you really have to figure out what is worth your while here. I find that most of the produce here is the same stuff you'll find in other grocery stores. If you really want fresh, you've still got to hit up the farmer's markets. Their prices are also a tad bit higher for some items than other stores I've noticed, like a dollar more for a pack of bottled water, but I suppose that's no matter for those of you shopping here for convenience. read more

Don't you just hate it when you walk into a grocery store...need one specific item. ..walk over to where it is and...empty space!!! Well, that won't happen at Dave's! The shelves are always stocked...they actually have friendly associates working throughout the store (yes, living, breathing, human beings!) to help if have any questions! The people in the fresh meat section are terrific! your wish is their command! They bend over backwards to not only get you just what you need but also the way you want it! They are honest when you ask their opinion on certain sausage, meats, etc. and this honesty is what keeps me going back! The hot prepared foods are second to none..the brick oven pizza is to die for! The deli section has a huge variety of fresh cold cuts and cold prepared foods to warm at home, as well as the usual chicken salad, tuna, etc! Now to the bakery section! ! ! Every dieter's nightmare! Huge cupcakes with a mound of frosting on top! Unbelievable pastry and muffins and cakes! Want to make your own pizza at home...no problem! The selection of refrigerated doughs are plentiful...regular, whole wheat, gluten free. ..they have them all! Need flowers for the table...or a gift...oh yes, they've got them..nice and fresh! Dave's is definitely my favorite markets to shop at in Rhode Island. I shop at both locations in Smithfield. Growing up we used to do most of our shopping at the original location. Meats, Produce, Seafood, Specialty cheeses, and Gourmet Pizza are of superb quality. The staff here are very helpful and friendly and willing to assist you. Store is always clean. Sales are competitive. Love the two tiered carriages and paper bags with handles. Also, free hot coffee while you shop. read more

How can pizza be this good and cheap! About 4 bucks a slice and the slices are big! I just can't get enough of this amazing pizza! I love the variety Dave's market has. This has to be one of, if not the biggest Dave's store. They literally have a full on bakery,pizza counter with fresh and hot fish n chips,fried chicken etc. .. They have a ton of prepared food to go both hot and cold. Every section is huge from the deli to seafood, specialty cheese department, florist,butcher you name it. I like how they carry all your top name brands but also offer local RI products. The store is very modern and well taken care of so it's appealing in that sense. The only downside to this location is it gets really busy and people are mad annoying. Also the parking situation is hideous...you don't know who's coming or going. I wish they would lower their prices too but whatever. Overall I do like this store a lot though! read more
