Our first winery on day two of our Christmas Trip. We arrived about 30 minutes late due to a small accident, the experience despite been shorter by those 30 minutes was very relaxing and interesting, the host happens to be David's father-in-law which allowed us to learned a bunch of side-and-personal histories. Going to the wine and facility, their juices are really good, they are medium plus in body including their Merlot, plenty of tannins and clearly a long living product. The place is small, it was raining so we couldn't explore the surroundings, but inside in the cave it's very cold and intimate, quite a unique tasting experience. After we finished we had a chat with David himself and few hours later he was helping me to take the car out of a ditch... Things like this makes you believe that we're still living in a good planet with good people in it! read more

Very much enjoyed our visit to David Arthur Vineyards. Part of an international, fun and eclectic group that toured some wineries in NAPA in early August. Tanner was a great host and plied us with many interesting stories as we enjoyed the great hillside Cabernet Sauvignons. This was our first winery tour of several and they knocked it out of the park and set a high bar for the remainder of the tour. My wife and I are locals and we recently had the pleasure of visiting David Arthur Vineyards for a tour and tasting. I was born and raised in Napa and have visited several wineries over the years. However the experience at David Arthur was one of the best I have ever had. There is not much to say about the wines, they are nothing short of spectacular. The real difference maker was the staff. Our tasting was hosted by Will. Not only is he incredibly handsome, his knowledge and passion for wine and hospitality is infectious. He made each wine approachable and had incredible stories to tell about the history of the winery and the surrounding areas. Later on in our tasting we were joined by Tanner, another member of the David Arthur team. While not quite as good looking as Will, he made up for it with his wit and sense of humor. As the tasting was coming to an end we were treated to a ride out into the vineyard on an off road vehicle of sorts. This is where the real star of the show entered and put the experience over the top. His name is Randal. Randal is a golden retriever and all around good boy. He joined us for our last pour in the vineyard and was the icing on the cake. If you are looking for an unforgettable experience, David Arthur is the place. read more

David, Tanner, Laura and Nile are all awesome and produce some of the best wines I have ever had the privilege of trying. I would highly recommend booking an appointment. In fact, we enjoyed our experience so much that we just recently booked a reservation in Fort Worth for David Arthur's dinner event coming up in April. My wife and I will forever keep the memories that we had here. We happened to have an appointment on bottling day and had to cancel our lunch reservations since David himself demanded that we have tacos with him - these were seriously the best tacos I've ever had. We recently tasted at David Arthur with Tanner, and it was as great an experience as one can hope to have at a tasting. Tanner was a fun host, with many stories to tell about David Long (the owner), the vineyards, and the winery. The winery itself is beautiful, a lovely building, with great artwork everywhere. We tasted inside the cave, amongst the barrels. We tasted the current release of their full line-up from the bottle and a few ongoing projects that are still in barrel. Everything was excellent, and without giving away a spoiler concerning what they have cooking in the barrels, if that stuff makes it into bottles I will buy whatever allocation of it they will allow me to buy. The wines here are very, very good, have no doubt. Pritchard Hill is famous terroir for good reason, and David Arthur is using that lucky location to make top flight Cabernet. I left having placed orders for the Meritaggio, the Elevation flagship, and the Old Vine Cabernet Sauvignon. I think that my cellar will be enriched by these fine additions, and I can't wait to see what some age will do for them. To be clear, this isn't a winery for the wine novice...the wines are VERY expensive for the most part, with their top bottling (Elevation 1147) costing basically $200 a bottle. Make an appointment and try their wines...you will be a fan, I promise! read more

Where to begin... Not only is this magnificent Vineyard nestled high up on the hill overlooking the entire valley, next to a picturesque lake it takes quite some time To travel up a long winding road from the street before you ever arrive; All of it well worth the time and effort. Not only is the wine outstanding, but the staff are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. The only downside that I can possibly find is that the Master Vintner, does not break out his infamous barbecue often enough! Not only has he and his team won several national awards, most notably besting the famous Chef Emeril Lagasse on a couple of occasions, Needless to say, if you have the time and the energy make the call to see if there are any tours available for the time period that you might be in the area, it will be more than well worth it. It is recommended although to have a designated driver, the road is long and winding, especially after a few glasses of wine... Très Bien! read more

This is a fabulous vineyard that is the rare tasting worth the high ($50) cost. We had Tanner, the Estate Coordinator, and a knowledgeable and friendly guide. We had a Chardonnay to start, followed by four reds (primarily Cabernet) and a repeat of our favorite. I cannot speak more highly of both the quality of the wines and the service. Worth every bit of the price. We also ran twenty minutes late and they could not have been more understanding. We went during off season, but it was still beautiful. Definitely go and ask for Tanner! read more

David is a rockstar of a wine tasting guide. Not only is he funny as hell, but he's got a story for everything! I could have fun drinking turpentine with David. But, when you throw in his wines, the view of the valley from their location, walking out of the wine caves with the most incredible view, and an overly generous host...well, you have quite an experience. The only downside is the drive down the hill on a gravel road can be tricky after tasting all these wines. (bring food up here with you!) read more

I have always been a huge fan of David Arthur and personally love their wines. So upon making the trip to Napa I made sure to get a private tour. David Arthur is located on the mountain with absolutely breath taking views of the valley floor. On our day it was quite pretty but extremely windy. I enjoyed having a private tour as its more intimate and you really get to know the whole story. We tried 5 different wines finishing with their Elevation. Along the way we were able to do some barrel tastings which was very exciting and interesting to learn about the process David uses. I will surely make a return trip up the hill very soon. read more

The ranch and winery offer breathtaking views and the wines are all spectacular. We've been to 50+ wineries and this was a bottom 5 experience. Our host seemed more caught up in his own stories than the wine and the whole experience was rushed as he was trying to cater to the timing of another group who was trying to visit 4 wineries in a day. The wines were fine but hard to distinguish/appreciate given how rushed things were and because they didn't offer any sort of palate cleanser (like a cracker). If you want a good Prichard Hill wine/experience go to brand or nine suns next door! read more

David Arthur. A long, lucious drive up a curvy quiet road. The anticipated preamble to a leisurely wine-tasting with rich, ruby cabs and a cadre of fellow wine-lovers equally interested in hanging on the wine educator's every word. NOT. Well, the long, lucious drive and anticipated preamble to a great tasting ahead, yes. The rest of it didn't quite follow the script. The four first guests scheduled to be on our tasting tour canceled and were replaced by eight rambunctious friends on a weekend getaway without their teenage kids. They were baudy, garoulous and fun. But, that also made it hard for anyone wanting a nice tasting (serious isn't always boring) of a nice set of blends grown under the watchful eye of a caring owner and winemaker ... The Meritaggio was wonderful, even the old vine cab still in the barrel was delectable in its infancy. And in spite of our companions' incessant good-hearted giggling, and to the credit of patient and noble Tyson who led our tour and tasting and tried in vain to keep it real amidst the levity, we managed to learn a great deal about this gem of a place high on the eastern hills. Hats off to David Long and family, to Nile and to Tyson (go Tritons!) for their fine work. May all years be as good as '07. Make an appointment and go.
