I am writing this review because I was concerned about being treated by Dr. Cedeno because of the two negative reviews. I really take Yelp reviews to heart especially when it effects my health and my body so I was a bit nervous. I am glad to report that I am pretty pleased with my experience with Dr. Cedeno and I would use his services in the furture (If I had to)! He was prompt for my surgery and took extra time time to discuss the procedure and all the risks and exactly what he was going to do. I did not feel that he withheld any information on billing or anything whatsoever. I think that it is our responsibility as patients to ask questions and really understand why there may be extra fees for anesthesia or a bone graft etc. I am grateful that he accepted my cheap ass dental plan. Surgery is EXPENSIVE and for me to walk out with a $400 bill after paying $10 bucks a month for safe guard dental is a huge discount compared to the $2000 or more a surgery could cost out of pocket. Dr. Cedeno is also highly qualified. I did my research and he is a graduate from one of the most competitive dental programs (UCLA) and did his residency at an even more highly selective program for oral surgery at UCSF. You don't get into programs like that and succeed by being incompetent. I have a friend in residency at UCSF for surgery and another friend at UCLA dental and it is HARD shit. They work you to the ground and you come out of school with 1/4 of a million in debt typically. And then you have to start your own business on top of it. If you are concerned about getting your wisdom teeth extracted or an oral surgery of some other capacity, I would recommend Dr. Ceneo, especially if he is contracted through your insurance. I am very pleased that my surgery took only 45 minutes, and there were none of the complications that he informed me could occur based on my panoramic x-ray and the way my mouth is innervated and my sinus cavities interacting with my wisdom teeth. All in all I was at the office for at least 2 hours but that was because I had to fill out paperwork and discuss the billing with the biller and all of that which took extra time. And I was in the waiting room for a little bit but it wasn't much compared to the time I've spend in waiting rooms for GP dentists. We are all consumers as patients and it is our responsibility to ask questions, learn a thing or two about billing about how it all works so that we can get the proper care. We are not victims! Don't just blindly go in and trust someone because they are a Doctor. Doctors are people paying student loans, making good money, but working HARD and trying to practice evidence based medicine. It is your responsibility to be the intermediary, to take their recommendations and decide if their recommendations make sense for your body and your pocket book at this very moment. I do think two things could be improved in his facility, the staff is nice but the receptionist wrote my number down wrong and I had to call 5 times to get the billing info prior to the surgery over the phone. That was the thing that initially concerned me and why I was a little antsy about his office. I am very anal about my health and it's a bummer when a receptionist cannot be as detail oriented as a doctor has to be to do surgery. It just sets a bad tone for the patient because it is the first impression. I DO think it was an honest mistake and that she tried to call me back but they could do better and not have something like that happen. Likewise I don't think Dr. Cedeno has natural bedside manor and perhaps that is partially the reason for the bad reviews too. At the same time I think he is a straight shooter, which I like and he will tell you how it is without fluff. I'm not sure what happened with Joe T's experience, that doesn't sound like fun. I don't think Dr. Cedeno would let a patient die on the table though! In my experience almost all the dental work I've had done has been uncomfortable and it is unfortunate that Joe didn't get the reassurance or comfort that would have probably left a better taste in the mouth. However, none of these reviews have anything to say about the quality of Dr. Cedeno's dental work and isn't that the most important thing? My wounds look really good, and he was able to get my teeth out in 45 minutes without bone grafts to seal them up. If you were scheduled a surgery and consultation on the same time, same day, don't take it, find some other surgeon! My husband had a painful wisdom tooth and was scheduled to pull out on 7:30pm 11/10/2015 by DDS David Cedeno at Newport Dental in Norwalk, I felt a little strange for the arrangement, because my daughter got three of her wisdom teeth pulled out 4 years ago by Dr. Ronald Kaminishi, she went through two consultation before the surgery actually took place. The receptionist said it was because Dr. David Cedeno only comes to this office once a month. After a long wait, finally he got to go in and lay on the treatment chair, after the X-ray, Dr. David Cedeno immediately decided my husband needed to install a bone after the wisdom tooth is pulled, otherwise he will get infection easily in the future, co-pay for installing the bone will be $450, on top of the co-pay of pulling the tooth, I tried to understand more about the situation to decide if this is necessary, Dr. David Cedeno lost his patience and said "I'll be here next month!", I am pretty sure that he understood the reason my husband was there was because the pain caused by the wisdom tooth and wished to get rid of it soonest possible, what can we say, so we paid that extra $450 which we found that was not necessary later on. My advise to all the patients is to try to schedule another dentist if the receptionist told you that the surgeon only comes to this office once a month, or if the receptionist scheduled you the same time same day for consultation and treatment, after all, that treatment was really painful, not only in my husband's mouth, but also in my wallet :(( He went back there just today for a follow up check up, he was worried since last night that Dr. David Cedeno will find some reason to ask him to pay more money, after 20 minutes wait (we were there on time), I told him that if you felt fine, and you worried so much to be ripoff, why don't we just leave, so he told the receptionist that we didn't want to wait and came home, we both are writing a review. p.s. If you are looking for a ARROGANT, ABRASIVE, RUDE, CONCEITED, INSENSITVE Oral Surgeon you've found one with Dr. Cedeno!!!!! The picture of his degree on Yelp did not do much for him in terms of being courteous and compassionate towards patients. I took my mother in for an extraction and after having her xrayed, he briefly looked at her and then told us to go sit in an office to talk about the cost!!! When I asked the assitant why did we have to discuss anything if the cost was covered & had been approved already??? Cedeno rudely intercepted the assitant saying "don't answer that, you don't need to answer anything" waving his hands in the air. REALLY!!! I may have to pay out of pocket cash but not to someone who will treat any patient with such rudeness!!! I Walked right OUT!!! Appointment was scheduled for 8am, only to walk out 1 hour & 1/2 later!!!!!!!!! If you want to waste your time go see him!! read more

My experience here was amazing, when my dentist referred me to him I went on yelp and read the reviews and came across negative ones. However, I was open minded and decided to still go to a consultation because my dentist referred me and I knew that she wouldn't have referred me to him if he wasn't competent. I had a complicated case with my wisdom teeth and I went through different consultations with other dentists and he was my absolute best choice for an oral surgeon. He was very honest and told me what I needed and what I didn't need. I was scared of the surgery but he made me feel at ease and the staff was so attentive and patient. The worst part about the surgery for me were the antibiotics and the pain was tolerable. After I had my surgery I was able to contact him and he answered all my questions and even changed my prescriptions since the pain killers were making me sick. I'm very glad that I was able to contact him and he appeared to care. He is definitely affordable, I thought that his prices were pretty darn good for LA and for the way I was treated and cared for. I will say that he is definitely busy, my surgery didn't happen right on the scheduled time but I didn't mind waiting. On the bright side I did lose like 5 pounds after because I didn't eat solid foods for like a week. I would suggest this Dr. C to everyone and don't believe the negative reviews, go and see for yourself. read more

I went in for my wisdom teeth extraction after being referred by my general dentist. The office was pretty high-tech. I would have to object to the other previous reviews. The staff seems to really know what they were doing. I came in for a consultation and got all FOUR of my wisdom teeth extractions all in an hour and a half. I felt the nurses were very comforting. I went in worried that I was going to be in pain. But after I got home, I didn't even need the pain medications they prescribed me! The doctor was a cool guy. I would say my all-around experience was awesome. I would recommend to everyone. read more

I made two appointments and those two times he chose to close the office and guess what they didnt even tell me. I HAD TO CALL THEM and EVEN GO ON THE DAY OF MY APPT. Also it cost a lot to take out wisdom teeth from him because he puts his patient to sleep. I switched to different doctor and asked the office to send me the xray. guess what? i didnt receive anything.I WILL NEVER EVER WANT A "DOC" LIKE HIM TO TREAT ME. Dr Cedeno is an amazingly talented dentist and he's good at what he does and you cannot take that from him. My first visit I had an extraction and needless to say I was terrified. Dr Cedeno came in room, told me what the process would be, and assured me everything would be ok. I was still a little apprehensive but I calmed myself down and went through the procedure with no problem or complications. I'm sure most people are not excited about extractions but I must say I walked away with a smile on my face. On my second visit for some reason I was more terrified than the first time. Dr Cedeno entered the room with a big smile on his face, a warm greeting, he asked how I was doing and proceeded to tell me what the process would be, made me feel completely comfortable, and did not start my procedure until I was calm and ready to start. That was an awesome experience. Dr Cedeno thank you for your professionalism, your courteous staff, your clean and beautiful office and that marvelous city view.
