Cheese platter goes great with wine!
    Tiffany K.

One wet and wild Sunday afternoon I was craving adventure and wine. So I texted my friend who is a member here and she arranged for a tasting and cheese platter. I have been here on sunnier days, most notably for one of those 5k runs through the vineyards, Dionysus Dash. Great venue for it! The grounds are beautiful and the setting which worked for a 5k, but is most appropriate for a wedding. Tastings here are by reservation only. I don't know the exact price, but the service is intimate and relaxed. The cheese platter was tasty with olives, cheeses and nuts. The hit for me was the 2016 Grenache. Nicely balanced and $34 a bottle out the door with a membership (now I see that wine.com is selling for $24 which is a bargain! Go order some!). The drive up can be a bit scary if it's not a sunny clear day, so take your time and enjoy the scenery!

I, myself am not a member here at David Girard Vineyards, however one of our friends is! He took us down here so that we could enjoy some of their wine paired with some cheese and hors d'oeuvres that we've brought with us. We've been to a couple of vineyards before, but we were all in awe when we arrived to David Girard. I just need to point out something: I don't think you need wine to enjoy this venue; it's beautiful and breathtaking. We walked up a path where there was a cute waterfall. But the view that overlooked the whole vineyard was simply gorgeous. The pictures I'll post won't do it justice. To be quite honest, it makes me want to have a membership at David Girard Vineyards. As for their wine, I'm no expert, but I felt it paired well with the food we've brought. That's pretty much all I can really say about that. If you ever get a chance to visit David Girard Vineyards, you'll absolutely be stunned with the views it has to offer. As for their wine tastings and other privileges, it may be worth becoming a member. Regardless, it was an unforgettable experience and a venue that I'd want to definitely return to.

The wines were tasty, the grounds were a secluded and attractive environment to taste and unwind, and our server, David, did a great job! Really enjoyed our relaxed tasting experience, and bought a couple of bottles, as well.

We set up a private tour, tasting and cheese pairing. We had never been and fell in love upon arrival. The grounds are massive with a quaint pond and beautiful architecture. We were greeted with a glass of wine and they had a large table set up for us, including a sign with our name on it, it was very welcoming. We watched a short video on the history of the winery then we started the wine and cheese tasting. Everything was absolutely delicious, worth doing again. The golf cart was broken so we didn't get to tour the grounds but we did sit on the patio and enjoyed some wine. We had the whole place to ourselves. They turned on the waterfall for us, so we got to stroll to the top of the grounds and enjoy the view. We purchased several bottles of wine, the GSR and a dessert wine. If you're a planner, this is a great place to visit and wine taste.

    Beautiful view.

This was my first experience visiting a vineyard, and wow! was I blown away! I visited this venue for my cousin's wedding and you honestly couldn't ask for a more picture perfect setting. We arrived early and took advantage of this time to take lots of pictures with the beautiful vineyard in the background. I was not a fan of walking down the big hill to to reach where the ceremony was going to be held. The ceremony area was very pretty and intimate. The reception space was very classy, and all of the windows allowed us to continue to be able to enjoy the view. I had a chance to try both a red and white version of their wine and I was very pleased with both. If you are looking to plan an event in this area I would highly recommend this venue!

My husband and I got married here in 2016 and had a fantastic experience! I couldn't ask for a more beautiful property. The wine was excellent and everyone was always professional. We came back for a private wine tasting on our anniversary in September 2020. We were treated very well and enjoyed their gorgeous views and wonderful wine. Can't wait to go again!

Great wine, incredible service and beautiful view of the vineyards. We made an appointment and everything was smooth including calling into the front gate. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Rod did our tour and tasting, and he is the absolute best! He was very charismatic, professional, passionate, and even though he was very great at explaining and describing the wines... David Girard's wine sells themselves! The great atmosphere, delicious wine, and beautiful scenery definitely makes the country drive worth it

Such a beautiful place! A smaller vineyard, and not a popular stop, but a definate must see! Luscious vineyards rolling from hill to hill...just magical! Delicious flavors, and fabulous staff! "Rhone" all the way!

My personal favorite was the Artichoke Florentine because the mint pesto is so refreshing for the summer. I also appreciate the low alcohol options, as it allows me to join in the fun despite my alcohol sensitivity. The turtle pond is secluded and pleasant, but it's further and lacks shade, so I recommend bringing a parasol.

It slightly diminished the overall poshness of the experience, as we would have loved something beyond charcuterie while enjoying the wine. That said, we still had a wonderful time--and even became members--so that says a lot. I do hope they expand their food options in the future. If you're looking for a great atmosphere and delicious wine, I would absolutely recommend checking them out.

Perfectly cooked and paired beautifully with the wine. I also tried their charcuterie platter, which was the perfect complement to the tasting. I loved how thoughtful their wine club is, too--it's a refillable bottle system, which makes it eco-friendly and super convenient. This spot is an absolute hidden gem, and I'd recommend it to anyone visiting Placerville.

We ordered at the bar inside and then the wines were brought out to us on the patio. It took longer than expected to get our flights, and then we were a bit disappointed that the sommelier didn't spend much time telling us about the wines. She brought them out and told us what each wine on the flight was, then left and we never saw her again. We've had several amazing tasting experiences in wine country where the sommelier tells you many more details about the wines including where on the property the grapes are grown, how it is made, and what different notes we will taste in each wine. It was a pretty basic explanation and we didn't feel that it was very personable despite it being a slow weekday. We ordered two tastings but all the wines were brought out in small carafes, we couldn't tell if each one held enough wine for one of us or both of our tastings combined. This wasn't ever explained either, so we assumed it was for both of us to share. We still enjoyed having our wines on this beautiful property, and we were able to have our baby with us which was nice. We weren't very impressed with the wines themselves and did not have any favorites that we needed to purchase bottles of. It is $10 for a glass or a tasting which was quite the deal. The prices and atmosphere were great, but the wine and overall experience was average.

To start, we called on the phone first to make a reservation for our anniversary, we announced we had a Groupon to use, and we were never informed at the time of booking that it could not be used during their pizza and music nights. We arrive, lady setting us for our table (We also mention Groupon, another opportunity for them to alarm us, still nothing.) We get to our table, explain the Groupon to the server in which she declined the Groupon. We asked for a little more time to decide what we would order instead, server NEVER comes back. Takes us 20 mins to flag down another server who also never comes back after our wine is dropped off. Once our original server comes back around about an hour later after our glasses are empty, she is stumbling on her words (clearly has been drinking) and makes an offer for the Groupon that didn't even make sense lol. I want soooo bad to be able to go back again but damn I'm disappointed. As a server myself this is unacceptable. Even for our anniversary we weren't expecting anything special just honest and attentive service. The experience left such a bad taste in our mouth. She mentioned being short staffed but the vibe at a winery to begin with is slow paced and never an excuse to just outright avoid your tables entirely. I did not see any pep in this persons step, so to me it did not appear busy. Sorry, but have to knock down the score just for that
