I've been going to Dr. David Gluckman and team for more than 10 years. For the most part, I just go for my bi annual cleanings, but have had some other work done, like a chipped tooth repair and filling. The hygienist, Holly is very kind and thorough. I always get a great cleaning and without pain! Dr. Gluckman has a dry sense of humor, which I really like. And he's a skilled dentist that gets the work right. Horrible staff and experience!!!! They only care how much money they make and NEVER REALLY CARE their patients. If you're ready to pay extra/hidden bills then make an appointment with them! I did a crown with them, but before installing the crown, they referred me to do the root canal first, which costed me ~$200 (and insurance covers another ~$200). Then they kept scheduling appt with me for other teeth issues. I mentioned few times about I probably run over the max soon and they checked and told me your max is $1,500 and you are fine. Everything is fine until early this year, i got another $200 bill because i maxed out! And I called them to find out why. Their staff told me we didn't track the amount that the insurance paid at the root canal specialist and we didn't pay attention on that! I think i understand that they cannot track the exact number (maybe) because these are two different places, but it is you that referred me there in order to do the crown and you told me you were not aware of that!!! WTF!!! Even worse, their stuff said even if the insurance paid $600 at the root canal place, we wouldn't pay attention on that as well and today your outstanding balance is gonna be $600 and you must pay it.. I think I agree as patient, I should take the main responsibility on tracking my balance, but i really cannot accept they strongly feel it's 100% not their responsibility at all in my case with very rude and aggressive responses!! read more

Dr. Gluckman is a good and honest dentist. When I have problems, he tells me the different options and never steers me towards any one solution; he lets you decide for yourself. I've been to other dentists who push expensive treatments that seemed unnecessary , so my trust is hard-won. We've seen him for 15 years now. I like his hygienist, Holly, a lot. I had a terrible toothache out of the blue. It was so painful but I am "between dentists" and had no idea where to turn. Dr. Gluckman's office was able to give me an emergency appointment this very day. I was so very impressed with Dr. Gluckman. First, NO GUILT about not seeing a dentist in forever. And secondly, he was very thorough in talking through the various scenarios and explaining what he was seeing. Dr. Gluckman put several crowns in for me in Dec. 2015. I got to know Rosa and Tammy in the office in the process, and they were always efficient AND genuinely nice. In 2016, I changed dentists only bc of convenience with my husband's schedule. One of Dr. Gluckman's crowns broke recently, and I learned insurance won't cover a new crown on the same tooth for five years. (Don't get me started on how WRONG that is!) I called Dr. Gluckman's office, and Rosa absolutely remembered me, and it was great to experience her level of attention again. She got me right in, Tammy got me settled in the chair, Dr. Gluckman took a look, and said, "I'm know we lost you to another dentist, but we stand behind our work. We'll take care of you." So I am getting a new (replacement) crown with the only out-of-pocket cost being the cost of the lab, around $150, vs. a whole new crown which out-of-pocket would cost me closer to $1000. It's great they stand behind their work, and they didn't give me any hassle bc I'm no longer a current patient. If things change, I'll be going back there again. read more

I am so happy I chose to see Dr. Gluckman and his team. My decision was based on proximity to where I live and of course excellent yelp reviews. I couldn't be happier. I had my first appointment a week ago and knew I would need some serious help. I was told I needed a gum scaling and after some education as to why it was necessary and explanation of cost, I was on board. The hygienist (I forget her name!) who cleaned my teeth was wonderful. She provided such excellent care and was so attentive throughout the process. I had my second appointment today, completing the procedure and now my teeth are clean and back on track! A friend recommended Dr. Gluckman to me. I hadn't been to the dentist in a while, so I made an appt. Turned out I needed extensive dental work. This is the point where I usually say, "yeah whatever!" and head out the door....which is probably why I needed extensive dental work. There was something different about Dr. Gluckman that made me stay. First of all, after he had the x-rays, etc, he explained what was wrong with my mouth in disgusting detail. Then, he admitted that dental work is damned expensive, so gave me about five different game plans depending on what I could afford at the time. What an amazing dentist & man! After 20 years of going to the same dentist, my husband and I had to find a new one. This new dentist did all kinds of unnecessary procedures (we didn't realize it at the time). After dealing with pain for months, which only started after she had worked on me and kept telling me it would go away, I reluctantly went to Dr Gluckman. (Side note, she closed her practice about 6 months later). Dr Gluckman found that the pain was due to a cracked tooth (he didn't say this, but my guess is that it cracked when the previous dentist put in a filing), so we scheduled a 2nd visit. On that visit I was in the chair about to start the $1500 process of getting a crown & at the last minute I asked him about the possibility of pulling the tooth (last molar, no one would see it, do I really need it?). He agreed I didn't really need it and recommended an oral surgeon to extract it for a lot less than the crown and possible root canal. He never made me feel bad for asking or for deciding not to get the crown. He could have painted a picture making me feel that I really needed his services, instead he helped me find a less expensive 2nd option. Just a funny look from him, or telling me that I should get the crown, and I would have paid him the $1500, instead he put $$ in another dentist pocket. I chose him on the recommendation of a friend that has been his patient for 20+ years, she had a similar experience with him years ago. What wonderful work ethic!! I will send my entire family to him, tell as many people about him and look forward to having him as our dentist for many years. read more

Dr. Gluckman is a good dentist. His staff who clean your teeth are very professional as well. However, after 6 years of being loyal patients (5 of us) we are no longer using him as a dentist. Why? Because he charged us $50 for missing an appointment. We didn't just "forget" - my children were running late from the pediatrician - I was working it out on the phone with the office staff, etc. Not ONCE did the office staff remind me I'd be charged $50. She said it was on a paper I signed. Really? SIX years ago? No big sign in the office, etc. Poor communication. Why didn't she tell me this on the phone while I spoke to her several times at that moment? Not only that - often Dr. G will not see you when it's for a cleaning (I'll need to ask my insurance if that is allowed for the fees they charge). Many times he was not there to do the final check. The bill I received in the mail didn't even have the $50 charge -- that's why I was confused for what I owed -- even though it had itemizations -- that one was not there -- just the amount. Takes manager days to get back to you. I could go on more - but, you get the picture. Too bad, we liked him until he and his staff treated us like a new customer who missed the first appointment. I just moved to the neighborhood and got some fillings replaced as my first dental service with Dr. Gluckman. I liked his up-front, humorous personality and that he uses a camera to show you what's going on with your teeth. He's also really quick/efficient and I was able to get in there at 7:30am which helped so I didn't have to take off work. Overall, his skill level and efficiency seemed better than my previous dentists (at least with respect to fillings), so I recommend him. read more

I am new to Austin and was referred to Dr. Gluckman. It's always difficult to start over in a new city but this office made it painless. Loved Dr. Gluckman's approach, very friendly and explained things very well. Both myself and my husband were sick of the pain Dr Laubach at Advanced Smiles Dental caused us every time we saw her. Her technique for fixing fillings was unbearably painful (I have a very high threshold for pain, my husband's is average) and the amount of work she kept 'finding' appt after appt, made us look for another dentist. We were so glad to find Dr Gluckman about 6 years ago. Neither me or my husband have felt severe pain when he works, just your typical discomfort. Moreover, as other reviewers have stated, when work is needed he lays out the different options available to suit your personal/financial situation best and, it has been our experience, the less expensive choice doesn't compromise results. His staff is as professional and friendly as they come and I never have had to wait too long to be seen. One of his dental hygienists is a tad chatty and shares too much about her personal life for my taste but their work is impeccable.
