While I was worried it might be an expensive wheel bearing or suspension problem, Tatsu honestly recommended checking the tires first. ​Turns out he was 100% right! Tokyo did the washer tank repair for hoses and lines and wrapped engine harness wires in honda rodent tape for 335.30 while the car was there they also r/r spark plugs 378 and put in new battery 314 (included 5 yr warranty) THEY OFFER a very thorough inspection and found I needed A GDI fuel intake clean ($489 indicates they use a machine) BRAKE service rear despite rear brakes at 4 MM (705) AIR and cabin filters ($254- way too high) Transmission fluid exchange ($586- indicates using high pressure machine when I only need a gravity drain and refill) BRAKE FLUID exchange ($321) very odd since I just did a oil change and brake fluid flush for $210) elsewhere ANYWAY I stoll give 5 stars for professionalism shop cleanliness work promised done on time and COMMUNICATION IS the best I have ever had anywhere TOP notch independent shop and I will return for basic services. I used to go to mechanics in Santa Ana but was not always able to get the services I needed. Now with a new car, I was tired of getting price gouged for a simple oil change at the dealership. At Harbor Auto Service, Mike and John get the job done at an affordable price and take customer service to the next level. For example, when you have already paid and are all set, they park the car right outside for you and send you on your way. They are respectful and take the time to explain what is wrong with the car and give you plenty of options. They also have a nice waiting room with a tv, couches, and offer water as you wait. After talking it through with someone more familiar with car maintenance, it became clear that I was likely overcharged for a job that should have been quicker and more reasonably priced. What made the experience worse was the interaction before my appointment. When I asked for clarification about being told I may need "air," EU laughed at me for asking. I'm neurodivergent and sometimes take things more literally, so I was just trying to confirm whether I was being charged for something that is often free. Instead of explaining, I felt mocked for asking a simple question. Because of this experience, I no longer feel comfortable or confident returning here. They told me they filled it with coolant and the AC still didn't work. They charged me $150 for coolant that fixed nothing. Then they 'ran some tests' which took 3 days and cost another $400. They concluded my whole AC system needed to be replaced for $1.5k and 'found' another $6k worth of problems with my car on top of that. I took my car in to another shop, they said my coolant was empty, charged me $50 for coolant and my AC has been working perfectly for the last 4 months. They also said that my car was fine and nothing needed to be replaced or fixed, basically confirming these A1 A$$holes made up the 'repairs needed'. Daron and everyone at the front desk were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The lobby and waiting area were spotless, which made for a great first impression. What really stood out was their thorough inspection process. They provided pictures and videos showing exactly what the issues were. It's one thing to be told what's wrong, but actually seeing the proof is top-notch service. Unfortunately, my van had a blown head gasket and wasn't worth saving. However, I was so impressed with their honesty and how they handled everything that we ended up bringing in my daughter's 4Runner. They did a full inspection on the 4Runner, replaced the entire driveshaft, installed brand-new shocks and springs, and took care of several other fixes.
