Because of that, I came back for multiple oil changes. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was completely different. I was charged a high price for what should have been a simple oil change and cabin/air filter replacement, and I ended up waiting about two hours for the work to be completed. After talking it through with someone more familiar with car maintenance, it became clear that I was likely overcharged for a job that should have been quicker and more reasonably priced. What made the experience worse was the interaction before my appointment. When I asked for clarification about being told I may need "air," EU laughed at me for asking. I'm neurodivergent and sometimes take things more literally, so I was just trying to confirm whether I was being charged for something that is often free. Instead of explaining, I felt mocked for asking a simple question. Because of this experience, I no longer feel comfortable or confident returning here. I'm sharing this as a caution for other customers--especially women and neurodivergent people--who may not be as familiar with car maintenance and rely on mechanics to be honest, respectful, and transparent.

I'm not mechanically skilled, so it was good to see how they checked for puncturing. And by extension, showing that work is being done. I'm sort of leaving this as a thank you for that service, knowing I might not be able to return for awhile. His service was also provided during a tough time in my life. He always charged me a fair price which is why I respect him a lot. I've never had a BS service recommended by him. Everything is "hey, look at this" or "this is what is wrong". If you are looking for an independent mechanic H & A auto is a trustworthy place that still exists in this day and age.

We were looking for an honest car repair shop several years ago as we had problems with 3 shops in a row. Some of our friends recommended Costa Mesa Auto Service Center and we decided to give them a try. I don't normally write recomendations and simply expect great service and great parts at a fair price. This is what Costa Mesa Auto Service Center delivers. We recently had a starter replaced for the second time in just over 2 years. The previous shop had installed a substandard starter and charged us full price. After it failed, Jim assured me that they only install the highest quality factory parts and don't cut corners. I have found this to be true. Anthony and Jim's philosophy is that they are willing to trim their margins a little to provide the best parts and service and they expect customers will come back, year after year. Our old Maxima just passed 160,000 miles and is still going strong. We really appreciate the customer service. When we had the car towed in the last time to replace the starter, Jim had a very low cost rental car set up for us. Great job guys. read more

Great shop Auto repair shop really good. Top-quality mechanics. Knowledge bowl service advisors that I understand your needs and really want to take care of you not just your car. They're always fast with the shuttle or transportation to get me home and to my office and they're honest and they always send me pictures of the work that needs to be done. They've done such a good job over for them to several friends who have also given them rave reviews. At the end of the day it's hard to find a good auto mechanic and this is a good auto mechanic. read more

Daron and everyone at the front desk were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The lobby and waiting area were spotless, which made for a great first impression. What really stood out was their thorough inspection process. They provided pictures and videos showing exactly what the issues were. It's one thing to be told what's wrong, but actually seeing the proof is top-notch service. Unfortunately, my van had a blown head gasket and wasn't worth saving. However, I was so impressed with their honesty and how they handled everything that we ended up bringing in my daughter's 4Runner. They did a full inspection on the 4Runner, replaced the entire driveshaft, installed brand-new shocks and springs, and took care of several other fixes. It now drives like a brand-new car, and we absolutely love it! Our 4Runner is pushing 298k miles, and thanks to Daron and his team at Herb's Garage, we're hoping to keep it running for another 100k. Thanks, guys!

My son recently moved to the Los Angeles area and drives a late-1980s Chevrolet pickup. While driving, the truck suffered a catastrophic failure of the right front lower control arm, making it unsafe to drive. AAA towed the truck to Bay Auto Service. Before the truck was even unloaded from the tow truck or inspected, the person my son spoke with, who I believe was the manager, told him he could expect a repair bill of up to $2,500. Since my son had just relocated and was on a limited budget, he called me for advice. I spoke directly with the manager and asked whether anyone had actually inspected the truck or confirmed the cause of the failure. He admitted they had not. Instead, he immediately focused on whether my son had money to spend. He stated that it wasn't worth trying to help someone if they didn't have money. My son may have limited funds, but I do not, and I was prepared to help if the repair was justified. The conversation became even more disappointing when he proudly said, "No moolah, no fixie." He also stated that even if we wanted the truck repaired there, they couldn't even look at it for at least two weeks. He added that both of his mechanics were too old to push around a large truck. What bothered me most was not that they were busy or that the repair might have been expensive. Shops get backed up, and repairs can cost money. What bothered me was the complete lack of professionalism, empathy, and willingness to help someone who was clearly dealing with an emergency. A simple inspection or a respectful conversation would have gone a long way. Fortunately, we found a tire and repair shop next door. They immediately looked at the truck at no charge, correctly diagnosed the failed lower control arm, quoted a very reasonable $450 for the repair, and completed the work the very same day. That is what customer service looks like. My experience with Bay Auto Service was the exact opposite. Whether the person I spoke with was the manager or the owner, I hope this serves as constructive feedback. Treating people with respect costs nothing. Even when someone cannot immediately afford a repair, they deserve honesty, courtesy, and compassion rather than arrogance and dismissive comments. I cannot recommend Bay Auto Service based on this experience.

We told you we would set a time up for you to look at the car again at our convenience. Well it hasn't been convenient yet. As far as my husband telling you I was happy with the car when you called, (3 days after we brought it in), that is NOT true. He said thus far he was happy with it since it worked on the drive home. I had not driven my car yet so how would he know if I was happy or not?? I don't drive my car that often and the first time that I did is when I brought it back to your shop. You can justify in your mind that raising your voice to me was ok because you were frustrated but that's not OK! Period! I did not feel comfortable with your raised tone of voice or by your behavior, that is why I went inside your shop to ask my friend to come outside with me. Now my MAX button still does NOT work and the air still is NOT blowing as cold or as hard as it should be or used to for that matter, especially since we purchased a new ac compressor from you. The MAX button was never broken before bringing it in to your shop. We brought the car in for you to fix the issue with the ac not blowing cold air and you told us we needed a new compressor. It was our understanding that you knew what you were doing and that the problem would be fixed. The problem was NOT FIXED!! In fact, I was left with a new problem. As far as my car being 19 years old it only has 140k miles on it and has been well kept I can assure you. If you truly wanted to work this out you would have at least waited 24 hours after calling us to return your call. Instead this is how you chose to work things out with us. So unprofessional!!! Update: NO WE WILL NOT BE BACK. WE DO NOT TRUST YOU!!!!
