Fantastic massages for my husband and I! I had Stephanie And my husband had Susan. Terrific!!! Imagine being in the midst of a great massage and hear nothing but people stomping and walking around upstairs through most of the experience. Soundproofing is necessary here. I heard the conversation going on in the next room and the talking going on at reception desk. At least they should be more considerate. I've been going there for years, my husband not so much but we're likely to not go back due to the noise. read more

Had a fantastic Spa Experience. I recieved a Spa Pedicure and it was worth every penny

I have been going to the same stylist and colorist for years and she always does a great job on my hair. But rarely is she working a weekend, making it very inconvenient to schedule an appointment if you work. The front desk and reception area are horrible! Often the people taking calls have an attitude, you are continuously transferred and put on hold. When you go to check out, you have to wait on a long line, and so disorganized no one knows who was their first. The people behind the counter are clueless. Making it worse, there is absolutely no comfortable seating. There is an old purple couch that barely fits more that two that has been there for years, and a few uncomfortable bar stools. You would think they care more about their clients comfort and provide a nice reception area. Maybe they want you browsing their over-crowded products that are cluttered all over the place. You can't turnaround without bumping into something. read more

I have visited the spa several times over the past 10 years or so. The reason I keep returning is the spa atmosphere. I have tried other spas and nothing compares. I love being downstairs in that spa. As far as massages, I have had amazing and ok massages. If you want amazing, you need Shannon to do it. She is the best. In my opinion, the spa pedicures are not worth the cost. It's good, but not $60 good. Now my most recent visit. I have relocated and love DJW so much that I drove an hour to have a spa day. I added the invigoration exfoliation to my spa massage - not worth it, at all. Still mad at myself for wasting an extra $30 on that. The massage was wonderful as usual. I tried the spa pedi again, and meh. I was in the spa and in a robe for over 3 hours. So how was I supposed to get out to move my car so I wouldn't get a ticket? Nothing to put a damper on your spa day like a parking ticket. So just keep that in mind - I wouldn't make any appts that will take longer than 2-3 hours total unless you have a driver or just factor the $25 for parking into your cost for the day. Or if you want to get dressed, move you car, come back in and get undressed again. All in all, just not worth it for me anymore. I hope I find a place that can match the ambiance. Other than that (which I admit is a big deal), DJW isn't all that special. read more

The atmosphere was beautiful, I mean gorgeous...the massage not so much, I was highly disappointed, the girl was very very nice, but I felt like she had no idea what she was doing, by the time she told me the massage was over I was stunned because she literally forgot to massage my right leg!...and it was a 90 minute massage so it wasn't like she didn't have the time to do it....literally the only thing that wow'd me was the steam shower at the end...but I don't know if I want to give this place another shot... I mean how do you forget to massage a body part??? and for what they charge......maybe one day if I'm desperate...... read more

I bought my mom a gift card for Christmas she lost if. Tim, the manager, looked up number so it could still be used. Once we got there the staff was wonderful. The place is super clean, the shower was amazing, and the prices reasonable. There is nothing worst then paying for a bad massage. read more

Catherinne in the spa is awesome. She has a vast knowledge of holistic and medicinal treatment when it comes to skin care. Her facials are more than just the norm, she makes me feel Comfortable and takes the extra step to correct any issues. She is also great with my wax, precise and clean. After 22 years as a client, this salon has once again exceeded my every expectation. Since 1996 when I first frequented DJW in Newtown , I have received the benefits of cutting edge craftsmanship in haircare and exemplary salon and spa services. I have sat with many stylists in that timeframe and have never been disappointed. The fear of having your stylist booked or going on vacation is non-existent as David and his Senior staff ensure that every stylist receive extensive in salon training before they do anything more than wash your hair. With that being said, I have noticed that even the shampoo experience is one which is consistent among technicians. My daughter and I have had the priviliege of serving as models for various new stylist classes as well as continuing education for the team. My appreciation for the skill, geometry, chemistry and attention to detail which goes into something as seemingly routine as a simple cut and color is beyond measure. Since I am not much of a planner and often make appointments on the fly, the stylists I have sat with over the years are too numerous to name. However, over the past 10 years, senior stylist Kristy has been there for me, providing her expertise and support through long and short of my hair and life and everything in between. When I recently moved out of the area and had to find s local salon for color touch ups, I often returned to DJW for my cuts and unfortunately for me, at times necessary color correction. After my challenges in finding a salon within the state, I had an even greater concern trying to find one when I relocated to rural Western NC. Simply put, the bar has been set quite high. I jokingly say that David and his staff have ruined me. After a short time in NC, I was able to find a job, a home, favorite restaurants, entertainment and shopping, but the search for the elusive quality salon and stylist has continued on. This month, after two extremely bad experiences with stylists in NC and quite a few tears shed, I actually flew back to DJW for a much needed color correction and a cut. Stylist Ellie did her magic with David himself offeriing some advice and guidance regarding a new product which gently lifted out some of the unwanted color. Did I mention this place is always bringing in the latest and greatest cutting edge products and processes? To make a long story even longer, not only did I leave with restored confidence and a great cut and color, David is assisting me in finding someone in NC. In the meantime, I'll fly back to visit DJW for cuts and corrections. One final note, I am not a women of great means and carefully budget my personal care, I always keep this thought in mind... you can change a bad outfit, but you wear your hair every day! I've been coming to this salon for a little over a year. I've been very impressed and pleased with the services I've received. In that time I've had a massage (a couples one, which was very pleasant- Bernie was my masseur and wonderful), a couple of manicures, a pedicure, a make up application and routinely see Ally for my hair about 4x a year. I haven't found their pricing to be outrageous, but typical of a high-end spa/salon. My only complaint would be about the front desk staff. For the most part, I've had good experiences, so it's always somewhat of a jolt when I encounter rudeness, but it has happened. Overall, I enjoy my time there, and will continue to be a patron. read more

I've been cutting my hair here since it opened and I love my stylist! This review is for the downstairs spa only. I went this week to get my legs waxed and found the young woman who waxed my legs to be unprofessional and incompetent! She did a terrible job, missed spots, didn't clean my legs or put any lotion on them when she was done, even though I told her my legs felt 'sticky'. I will never waste my money having a professional wax at this so called spa!! I will need to go elsewhere or shave them myself. They get one star for atmosphere only. read more

I tried to plan a corporate salon party with David Witchell. I was transferred to Sadi who does not speak to clients and would only communicate with me via email. In addition, I was to wait 3 days for a response from her. She would not even tell me if the date was available. I find it interesting that in the economy today, the think they can treat clients so rudely. In general, I treat all people with respect, but I would have to think that a paying client would deserve a little courtesy. Apparently David Witchell does not need additional income. When I call Zanya, they are overly nice and extremely accommodating. I would assume that it rolls down from the top. read more

I just went here for a manicure and pedicure. I've been looking for a place to go on a weekly basis in Newtown since moving here from center city Philadelphia. I'm not impressed. Both services were with Irene. She was very nice and she did a nice job with the nail polish. There was barely a massage with the pedicure or manicure. The salon area is clean and the tools were clean. My biggest issue is that there is no place to dry your nails and you pay after your service. Needless to say I left with damp nails and then ruined one finger when trying to get money out of my wallet. What a waste. Still looking for my weekly mani/pedi place... read more

The spa here is wonderful. I love receiving a massage gift card for a holiday or birthday. My favorite masseuse is Shannon. She is friendly and great at what she does. The steam showers here are amazing. When the massage is over I'm not sad because I know I still get to use the steam shower after. Best massage spot in the area. David is simply a master at his craft and takes the time to make sure his staff is highly trained in all aspects of the many services he provides. That describes my relationship with my Hair Stylist, "Haley," and with the front-desk staff, especially Carmen. While I've been a satisfied customer for nearly 3 years, our professional relationship has recently been extended to include Galena and David, the owners of the Salon! I am very pleased to be the beneficiary of their attention and top-flight service, which is even more extraordinary because I didn't ask for it, much less demand it! I have always been satisfied by the services I've received at DJW. IMO, the prices are comparable to other salons in the area, but the service is much better! Yes, there have been a few mess-ups re: scheduling and moving about the Salon between services - these are absolutely minor and I have always received an explanation, apology, or complementary service in response to any Salon-generated "boo-boo." The Salon offers high-end services. IMO, the clientele should rise to the level of the service offered by treating the providers and owners with the respect and courtesy they have eared. I had my hair cut & colored yesterday at the David Witchell Salon. It was the first time I'd ever been and I was completely impressed. From the second I got there, the feel was first class. The front desk staff was extremely pleasant & accommodating (despite other reviews). I had no idea what I wanted out of my cut or color & Jason was a creative genius. I walked out of there a few hours later feeling like a supermodel! This was by far the best haircut I've ever had in my life & the highlight placement was so perfect for me! I've been stopped & complemented at least 10 times since yesterday and I've been telling everyone about him! I loved the place so much I just made appointments for my mom & future mother-in-law for next week! This place makes my hour drive seem like nothing! You'd be crazy not to go there! I really wanted to love this place. I've only been in once or twice to look for gifts...the gift selection and boutique are mesmerizing and such a shopping "experience". I was given a gift certificate by my husband for Christmas for a facial, so I was excited to finally experience the spa as well. Before I even got in the door though, a separate experience at Witchell's new boutique across the street soured my afternoon. After being greeted by two very sweet girls at front desk who offered me some information about the store and selection of clothes, etc., I was verbally assaulted by a store manager. While browsing through the racks, a woman came in the store and literally shouted at my back to "please place your coffee on the table". I can't articulate her tone but it was biting and rude. I turned around to face her and she wasn't even looking at me. Instead of walking over to me, making eye contact, and politely asking me if I minded placing my coffee on the counter she called me out in the rudest way possible. It took all of my wits to not call her out on her approach, but thankfully I managed to escape when she left for the back room. This is customer service 101. If you want to leave people with a good impression, smile at them. Make eye contact. Speak in calm voices, etc. If I ever run into this woman again, I'm going to school her. Anyway, I had my facial to look forward to across the street, so I thought. I was asked at check in if I had ever been there before. I explained that I've never had a service there but had been in the store to shop for gifts on several occasions. The girl was sweet, but didn't explain anything. She took me downstairs to the spa and told me that someone would be with me soon. The spa was beautiful, but completely deserted of staff. Even the rooms were all empty. I waited for a good 15 mins before a technician finally approached me and asked me what I needed. Kind of surprised at the lack of formality, I explained that I had checked in upstairs and was told to wait there. This woman didn't introduce herself, but checked me in on the computer and then asked me to wait again. At this point, I ran into another woman waiting and she confided in me that she thought they had forgotten about her. The technician finally came back to the front and escorted me to a locker where I was told to get undressed, yada yada and meet her back in the front. I waited in that front room for another FIFTEEN minutes before she came back to get me. I was 30 seconds away from getting dressed and getting the hell out of there. This now was 30 mins after my set appointment time. I think she could tell I was annoyed because once I was on the table she explained that they have a 15 minute "wait" policy for spa treatments. WTH???? Why wouldn't someone explain that when the appointment was booked or while I was checked in? It's really hard to relax into a facial or any treatment when you feel annoyed and ignored. Anyway, the facial was fine, but I had to ask the woman what her name was. On a positive note, she didn't push any product on me. Not sure now if that's their "philosophy" or if she was just too lazy to care. DJW is missing the boat BIG-TIME on Service. If you have the talent and the money to run a high-end salon, how hard is it to instill a mind set of SERVICE into your employees? Without good service, you're just a bunch of snobs taking my money. Customers should not have to guess, or wait, or feel out of place. The only welcoming thing I found there was the fireplace and some lavender honey hand cream. read more

The shampoo service made my head feel like hamburger in a meat grinder. I didn't think it was possible to get a headache from a shampoo treatment - and the 'head massage' lasted maybe 30 seconds - but thank god for that. On top of that - I made my appointment online and was told by the site that my cut would be around $50... That's fine - I spend that much every 3-4 weeks on my hair - I have a high maintenance cut and I expect it. I had LESS than HALF OF ONE INCH of hair TRIMMED and the stylist didn't even 'style' my hair and they charged me ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS!!! I walked out feeling like my hair looked like trailer park trash. The only redeeming thing about my visit was my stylist was very polite - but for $100 dollars for 45 minutes of his time - he wasn't nice enough!! read more

I have been visiting this salon for the past 7 years. I have always seen the same stylist, Brooke, and I love my hair every time. She gets my color right every visit. Throughout the years I have been all shades of blonde as well as brunette. I also am always happy with my cut and style. The blowout usually lasts for a few days which is nice. I have also had a few services in the spa as well. Spa pedicure is nice, massage is great too. They also do lash tinting, which is amazing and affordable. The only reason I did not give the salon 5 stars is for two things- sometimes the front desk people can be rude and short... Also, whenever I am there on a Saturday it gets very very busy, and waiting for a shampoo bowl or chair for color can be annoying. It sort of takes away from a relaxing experience. But overall I love the salon. read more

Visited this spa back in 2015 when I was getting married and again this past Saturday for my sister's wedding. The massage was excellent both times. Shannon is wonderful!! The facials I got both times were also great. However, on both occasions the spa manicure and pedicure left little to be desired. The women seemed frustrated and the woman who did my manicure was very rough and broke the nail on my pinky finger. So while I would recommend this spa for the massages and facials, I would strongly suggest looking elsewhere for your mani/pedi's. read more

I came in early in the morning to get a blow out from Michelle. It was my first time and I was extremely nervous. She did an amazing job!! My hair is very thick, long, and curly and she made it feel and look amazing! I would recommend her to anyone. No one else has been able to tame my hair. I have been going there for years, but I think my time is over. A few months ago, I had a bad color experience. I walked out with huge brown stripes. I came back to have it "corrected" and while it was better, it really is still off--I have big chunks of hair that are blonde with various high and lowlights, and big chucks that are just brown in the back. But OK, my stylist is good, and everyone has an off day, right? But then just lat week, my sister, whom I referred to DW, came to my house in tears because her hair was supposed to be highlighted with a tint of red, and the glaze they put on the face frame was bright red--so her "roots" now look one shade, but the rest looks totally different. It's pretty bad. So I think the stylists are either overworked so they can't pay attention, or the staff doing the finishing glazes aren't being supervised. Either way, I'm outta there. read more

Over the years, I have received several services at the David Witchell Salon and Spa and have always looked forward to a wonderful experience but due to a recent incident will not return. I received a painful and stressful facial treatment that left me with facial bruises that lasted several days. To make matters worse, Mr. Witchell would not return telephone calls or provide me with a refund. I find this poor business practice offensive and therefore rate this Salon with a negative star rating. read more

Best salon for men's haircuts in the Greater Bucks area. Highly recommend Cole- she's been very easy to work with, is always responsive to specific requests and proactive with suggestions and recommendations. All their stylists seem up to speed with the latest techniques. The service during the cut is very attentive. Excellent with scheduling.
