Worst experience that I've ever had with a doctor - in my entire life! No joke. He made me wait both times for more than 30 minutes. My first appointment was hardly much as he required that i do a test with another doctor (his buddy?) before he did the procedure that I was requesting. I decided to go to Torrance Memorial instead as my insurance pays for this (otherwise it was going to be at least $400). At the follow-up appointment he told me that he didn't trust TM test results although everything showed up fine. He wanted it done only with the doctor down the hall. Hmmmm, interesting! Sounds like they are in cahoots with each other. He got nasty so I told him I'd find some one else. He walked out & slammed the door. My husband & I both looked at each other in amazement. Did that really happen? I've never EVER had a doctor be so rude. If this was really an issue then why didn't he look at my results the day before & tell me not to come in since they obviously weren't going to do the procedure that I was requesting anyway. I had called the day before my appointment to confirm they had my test results from TM and (crazy me) I assumed that the doctor would have reviewed these prior to my appointment. Guess thats not how he works. Would NEVER recommend him to anyone - even my worst enemy. I'd been told by a couple people that he wasn't the most pleasant person to deal with but decided to give him a try regardless. Next time I'll listen! I have been a regular patient of Dr. Duffy for about a year now. I take an hour and a half drive each way and it is not because I have time and gas to waste. I have found Dr. Duffy and his staff extremely knowledgeable in their field, artistic in their craft and what may be  most important to me integral. The combination of all 3 is a RARITY to come by and that is in my opinion, is why I end up with exceptional, personally tailored, results! I appreciate that Dr. Duffy and his staff are clear and honest about outcomes and after care instructions. He has told me there were certain things that I did not need or why I would not be a good canidate for procedure I requested when other offices jumped on the opportunity to make a buck.  One of the procedures that he has performed on me is hand veins. I am in my 40's but had the look of an 80 year old woman's hands.  In my particular case, I did not respond as quickly to the typical 1-3 treatments normally used. Dr. Duffy treated me as an individual not normal protocol so I could have the best results possible. I have followed his after care results and my hands now look amazing! Dr. Duffy has shown me that he puts his patients first before his pockets and genuinely desires the very best results that can be achieved for his patients. If you are looking for a doctor that is going to tell you what you want to hear and promise you things they can not deliver just to get your money, he is not your canidate. However, if are looking for a doctor who is honest, has a wealth of knowledge and experience,  provides thorough after care and you desire the best results achievable, Dr. Duffy is thee one! read more

Very unprofessional and inappropriate. Poor bedside manner and tells sexually inappropriate jokes. I am a social worker on a government salary and was kicked out of the office after I merely asked for clarification of what I was being charged for. The doctor tried to charge me twice for the same procedure that he didn't do correctly the first time. He insisted that he never guarantees that his procedures will be successful. Very unhappy with his work with the lazer. I spent a fortune and he did not remove any of the sunspots he charged me for. I would not go to this place. I have seen psychiatric patients that are more stable than this guy. read more

I have been seen by Dr. Duffy for over four years. I came to him because another Plastic Surgeon's office did poor work on me. Dr. Duffy fixed the mistake and has been giving me injections ever since. I get compliments all the time and have been told numerous occasions by friends and strangers alike, how beautiful I am. If it were not for Dr. Duffy that would not be the case as I am in my middle seventies. More importantly, I feel good about myself and happy when I look in the mirror. Despite dr Duffy' s teddy bear appearance and smiles, he is not a good guy..nor a good Dr....and has a horrible temper and demeanour. Years ago, I went to him to have a minor treatment done which involved injections into my veins. Following the treatment, I almost died from an adverse reaction to the injections, and had difficulty walking and running for two years following. Also, the issue he treated me for actually got worse, not better. I was then treated by several doctors who informed me that it appeared I had suffered a pulmonary embolism (or close to one), and that this was most likely caused by my reaction to the type of liquid that was injected. I went back to Dr Duffy to inform him about what happened .He escorted me into his office, turned very red in the face and started yelling at me and acting abusive. Then he referred me to another Dr he felt could help. Unsuspecting, I went to see the other doctor. After the consultation with the other Dr I received a letter in which I was copied, written by the second Dr to Dr Duffy stating that there was no problem and that I needed psychological services. I later found out the two of them attended the same medical school, and were in cahoots (seems to be a practice of his ...see other reviewers' comments ). When I tried to obtain a copy of my files from Dr. Duffy's office, the "before and after" pictures that were taken during my initial consultation were eradicated, and my file was essentially wiped clean. I also discovered that Dr Duffy used an experimental medication during the injections instead of regular saline solution, as most medical practitioners use during this type of procedure, and as he had done himself in the past when I went to him years earlier. (He did not inform me prior to injecting that he was using an experimental solution). Over time, I was able to run and walk normally again, though there is still scarring from the reaction to the injections. Should another patient experience the same negligence, please know they will have little or no recourse...as he is, quite frankly ...a monster. read more

I wrote a long review and somehow it vanished. So here's the short version. Dr Duffy may seem sweet and charming but he's got a horrible temper. Personally, I believe he's an imbalanced man self medicating with God knows what. His behavior seems so drug induced that it's scary. He screamed at me with a very red face for not coming for a follow up appointment (which I felt was unnecessary and it was a long drive). He then left the office and minutes later came back completely happy and very high on something. Last time I was in he made me do this dumb counting game as he did my Botox. He ended up doing it really badly. He also kept making comments about my large breasts. Other times I've been there he's ranted on and on about his nutty, extreme right wing politics. The problem is that he's the only doctor I know of that can reduce veins in your hands- and he does it well. If anyone knows anyone else, please let me know. I don't however, get any more Botox, etc. there. read more

Nurse Stefani injected me with Botox and Juvederm and I didn't have One bruise! She is AMAZING, such a delicate injector and incredibly skilled. She has a great eye and won't let you be "Overdone." I purchased 3 syringes with a promotion and wanted her to do a little more since we had a little bit more in the syringe, she insisted I was good as is, and didn't want me to look like I had done too much. She was Correct. I was incredibly happy with my outcome. My husband didn't notice but my girlfriends said I looked great. I also bought some Skinmedica TNS serum and I love it. Just had my spider veins injected with Dr. Duffy. This is my 2cnd treatment and all I can say is AMAZING! I was a little afraid with the needles and all but I didn't feel a thing. Dr. Duffy explained everything. He is super knowledgeable about veins. I was referred by another physician who told me that Dr. Duffy was one of the best in the field. The girls in the office were really friendly too. They even validated my parking. I have to wear those clingy hose but only for 24 hours. Looking forward to going back! I saw Dr Duffy on TV and like the way he presented himself and the procedure. I booked an appointment and while I was in the waiting room I read some of the negative reviews on Yelp. Let me tell you. I'm do glad I made the appointment. He was nice, easy going and very knowledgeable. He never tried to sell ( most dermatologist push product) me any extra procedures or products. Wow! Dr. Duffy has made me feel so good about myself. He is a master with fillers. I have been seeing Dr. Duffy for many years and he and his staff make me feel so wonderful and comfortable. I am 55 now and I feel the fillers and Botox that I have received from Dr. Duffy has prevented my face from wrinkles. I feel I look much younger than my age due to the "preventative" work from Dr. Duffy. I always have no problem getting appointments, even on short notice when I have a special occasion and need to look my best. If you want to have healthy skin and look beautiful ( and who doesn't) go to Dr. Duffy or one of his expert staff members. I discovered Dr. Duffy years ago when my mother needed some vein therapy he is known for and is an expert at. He was lovely then and he is lovely now. We just had a wonderful visit to take care of some "beauty " issues and literally had so much fun being cared for and pampered by a revered legend. The reason Dr. Duffy is famous is because he knows what he is doing. And his office is filled with technicians who know what they are doing. I have had a few bad experiences with other offices closer to me, but when I visited Dr. Duffy again this afternoon with my Mother, I remembered what it was like to be in the hands of a true Doctor of Dermatology who is an innovator and who cares. The table was the best, the lights were super high tech, attached to the ceiling and more movable than I've seen in an operating room. It was set up to do some business where it matters... on your face. I used to get regular IPLS there and people would ask me, "Who does your skin". Well its time to get up to speed in that department again. He did some impromptu work on me even though I was just the helper (I'm so darn lucky!) and both my beautiful Mother and I left looking light years better than when we arrived. It wasn't a cookie cutter groupon special that was fluff to make some fast money. It was fair and we got what we paid for. Time, concern and REAL treatment that meant something to us. I'm sure he and the staff are just doing what they are good at, but as a client, I couldn't recommend them more. I give Dr. Duffy and everyone in his office five stars. It is THE place to go to beautify. There is artistry and talent and education. Trust me I know. Only an artist should work on your face!!! read more

Stefani, Dr. Duffy's nurse, has a really steady hand, impeccable eye, and uses enough numbing materials that the procedures she did with me literally were painless. (Yay!) She doesn't try to push things she doesn't believe in, either. Not sure whether or not ultherapy on my brow is worth the bucks (I had it 2 months ago and have 1 month to go before results are supposed to kick in), but I think the sculptra can be. If you're going to have any of these subtle therapies done, she's the go-to person, in my opinion. read more
