Dr Kye is the best dentist I have ever had! She carefully took care of me over several sessions to fix cavities that had decayed. She checked in with me personally after some difficult work to see how I was feeling. Tamara at the front desk is incredibly kind and efficient. Our insurance only covers some of the cost so it is expensive for us to go here but my husband and I will continue to return because the quality is so excellent. read more

Said they took Aetna, and I gave them insurance info at 3 points prior to appointment (in initial appt request form, talked to someone over the phone, provided cards at check-in). I have never been to a doctor or dentist that didn't make sure they accepted my insurance prior to providing services, but I finish cleaning and appointment and owed more than $300. Went for a second opinion with Dr Rothkopf and he said it wasn't needed - just a bit of clean up of very old fillings. Huge savings but also .... who wants crowns! I have been to Dr. Rothkopf 3 times, twice for a cleaning and once to get an Invisalign Express consultation. I can definitely say that he is one of the best dentists I have been to and also the only one I have felt completely comfortable with since leaving my dentist of 16 years in Baltimore. His staff is very friendly and makes you very relaxed and comfortable. The hygienist does an awesome job cleaning my teeth; very gentle but thorough, and I didn't feel like she was rushing to finish. The receptionist is also super nice and always seems to get me in for an appointment within a week. Dr.Rothkopf himself is very very nice, friendly and most importantly not a crook. He tells you honestly what he thinks you should do in regards to your teeth and if you need work done how much it will cost. My boyfriend comes here too and has had a broken tooth fixed and a few caps replaced. Dr Rothkopf did a great job fixing them and also didn't charge him an arm and a leg. I've been going to Dr. Rothkopf for a few years now. The other reviewers are spot on. It's an excellent office with a happy staff, and Dr. Rothkopf does great work. I've also been very pleased with Dr. Rothkopf's referrals. It sometimes stinks to have to go to a specialist for things, but I appreciate that he doesn't want to take risks. Both the endodontist (for a root canal) and oral surgeon (for wisdom tooth removal) that Dr. Rothkopf referred me to were great. I am recognized and greeted warmly by everyone on staff each time I go in, and I've never had an issue with billing. I've also never had to wait beyond my scheduled appointment time, which is a huge deal. read more

Dr. Rothkopf is one the BEST dentist in DC, Va area. I have been going to Dr. Rothkopf for 29 years. I've tried couple of other dentists close to home in Va but, they were just there to make money, not fix my teeth. Dr. Rothkopf is very sweet, patient and a great dentist. He actually cares about his patient' teeth rather than making money. His staff is excellent, very welcoming, professional yet funny. I love Nancy, Gail, Tammy and (hygienist) Sue. That team has been together for many years, that is another plus. I am so happy that my dad took me to Dr. Rothkopf at early age, or else I wouldn't have any teeth now. My son, who lives in Ohio, was in DC for a summer internship, and had a dental emergency. Upon advice of a friend who lives in Bethesda, I referred my son to Dr. R. The courteous staff saw him within 3 hours of my call! The dentist evaluated the situation, explained all to my son, took a temporary step to relieve the pain, and referred him to an endodontist immediately who saw him and completed the necessary procedure. Wow, so glad I found him! He's calm, super friendly and conservative with your teeth--meaning he doesn't create fake dental problems to make money (a huge, common problem I've encountered with multiple dentists since we have a pay for performance health care system). I'd gone to another dentist who told me that I had 9 cavities, 3 of which would need at least crowns and 2 of those would probably be root canals. Skeptical, I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Rothkopf who told me I have...1 cavity. None of the rest is necessary. What a relief to find someone who isn't drilling away my good teeth to make more money. I had something very similar happen when I lived elsewhere and am so relieved to have an ethical dentist I trust now. Be careful, folks, some dentists just want to make more money and will invent problems to make their boat payment. The staff is super friendly and amusing--I'll let you see for yourself. I am 28 years old and have had 3 root canals and a dental implant, in addition to a mouthful of fillings. I'm also undergoing orthodontic treatment for the second time. Needless to say, after all of this nonsense I'm a bit of a dental hypochondriac. I began seeing Dr. Rothkopf after a coworker referred me to him (I had a horrible experience with my previous dentist), and he's been extremely patient with my dental hypochondria and takes plenty of time to explain, in a non-condescending way, why my fears are unfounded and why my teeth are actually healthy. Several other reviewers have noted that Dr. Rothkopf is not a crook, and I'd like to echo this sentiment. Every single dentist I've ever visited in my life has JUMPED on the opportunity to do excessive work on my teeth given my disposition to drill/fill/attack any and all cavities to prevent further decay. Dr. Rothkopf is very honest and does not do any unnecessary dentistry even though he could honestly make a huge fortune off of me due to my paranoia! The receptionist is very polite and will always try to work you into his schedule. Also, he does very early appointments too (like, 7:30AM), which is great for folks with very busy schedules. I've been a patient of Dr. Rothkopf for at least three years. Definitely the most thoughtful and patient-friendly dentist I've ever used - and probably the best as well. He goes the extra mile, whether concerning comfort or quality; and will go out of his way to save you money, giving you a good explanation of the pros and cons of different procedures or specialists. Amazing! The care my family & I receive here is outstanding and unmatched. Dr. Rothkopf and his team take their time with us, answer all of our questions, and truly do what is in our best interest. I hadn't been to the dentist for a cleaning in over 5 years, and was terrified. But, there was no reason to be. At all. From the day I made the appointment, to the today when I went in, his staff was nothing but great. They made me feel welcome, from the receptionist, to Dr. Rothkopf himself. I am very happy my co-worker introduced me to Dr. Rothkopf. I had to switch dentists because my previous one was located too far away (Reston). Dr. Rothkopf is a terrific dentist - very thorough, helpful, professional, friendly, and willing to take the time to explain everything you want to know. It isn't easy to find a good dentist, so I'm thrilled I found him, and that he was accepting new patients! I've been twice this past year - once for a cleaning/routine exam (I loved the hygienist but I cannot think of her name right now...she did a great job and was very friendly and courteous about not hurting me) and then again to have a tooth that was chipped bonded. Years ago, Dr. Rothkopf performed a botched root canal on me and lied -- telling me that he was just repairing a filling. After the procedure he told me not to be afraid, but that he had actually done a root canal. Excruciating pain ensued, which resulted in my needing to see an endodontist (i.e., an expert in root canal procedures) on an emergency basis the following day. Apparently, Dr. Rothkopf had done a horrendous job on the undisclosed root canal, which resulted in my needing numerous procedures to repair. (Unfortunately, days following this incident, I learned that an acquaintance of mine had a similar experience with him in the year prior ... I wished I had known that beforehand). I would recommend staying far away from Dr. Rothkopf. His warm and welcoming way, and friendly personality, should not be a disguise for his unethical behavior and poor dentistry. read more

He is ok . But don't trust his all recommendations. He is only about money :) I had 4 teeth in front with black stains. He said I can't remove the stains . He recommended me to put implants . Please check with other dentists before listening to him. Other dentist removed it easily . So be careful with him. I even tald him my dad is surgeon of cancer ha ha ha Well I can't judge him I visited another she could not remove it as well . But 3 rd one removed it. I had some food stuck in my gums next to my bottom wisdom teeth for the last few days (and it was driving me nuts). My regular dentist is in NYC. Dr. David's assistant was very kind and let me see the doctor on the same day I called his office. Dr. David professionally removed a piece of tortilla chip without causing any pain (and it wasn't particularly a small piece). The doctor didn't even charge me for my visit. After a couple of decades of being Dr Rothkopf's patient I have to echo the previous two comments and add a few more points. My family, including two now-grown kids, and I have many many experiences in which he found a great, lowest-cost solutions that last. Also, when we have needed a specialist for a procedure, Dr. Rothkopf doesn't just send us off and forget about us: he follows up with the specialist, checks out the progress and keeps all the providers coordinated and moving along. He is gentle, empathetic and makes himself available pretty much 24/7 in case of emergency... His whole team is supportive and efficient, too. Another near-miracle: appointments happen at the time when they are scheduled! No packing his practice at patients' expense... You get as much time as you need and al your concerns and questions are answered. read more

People are just not kidding when they talk about the professionalism, integrity, skill, and kindness of Dr. Rothkopf. I had another dentist perform a poorly-done crown and try to upsell me another even while the first one was in a lot of pain. Dr. Rothkopf took a look and told me I did not need the second crown (as I suspected) and offered to fix the crown for a discounted price to help with with the situation a TOTALLY UNRELATED dentist had put me in. That is integrity for you. I don't know how he has any time left for new patients with his steller record and the bevy of bad dentists in DC, but if he does, get him. He might not accept all bargain basement health-insurance rolled in dental coverage (only very bad dentists, like my old one, seem to) but I think he accepts most dental insurance. read more

I have been Dr. Rothkopf's patient for almost 25 years and he has always been terrific. His staff does very professional routine cleanings. Dr. R has removed wisdom teeth, done several crowns, three root canals, adjusted my bite, fitted me with a small, easy-to-use night guard. He is conservative in that he does what he can to save a tooth before making the decision to remove it. Did I mention that my teeth have always been a lot of trouble? He can absolutely be counted on to squeeze me in when there has been an emergency. He is pleasant and I always come away with a good understanding of what will be, or was, done and why.
