I also stopped by the shop and asked to talk to him (he was not there). He has offered to fire the person and/or compensate me with $60 + a free haircut if I change the review (photos attached). Giving me a bald spot for fun is way too unprofessional for me to consider changing the review. I have offered to point out the guy to Arthur, but I am not asking for the guy to be fired. One of these guys gave me a bald spot because he thought it was funny. He thought I didn't notice and gave me a fist bump with a slight smirk on his face after the haircut. After the haircut my girlfriend told me I was balding, and I instantly realized what happened. The hair grew back to normal in a few weeks. At least one of the guys working here is an unprofessional jerk, so l'd recommend going somewhere else.

She gave me an awesome haircut and also trimmed my beard so that I can attend the wedding reception with the best looks! She is very good at what she does and more importantly extremely nice and kind person. Once you interact with her you know how much she loves her job and cares for her customers. One tip to add: If you are visiting for the first time, you may have trouble locating the salon. It's right next to De Janeiro. But most of those glowing reviews are pre-covid. I don't know if a lot of their stylists left but there's a notable lack of reviews post-covid. They're kind and the space feels lux and quiet. Problem is communication, went multiple times feeling very whelmed and changed stylist every time. After my third time I think I'm done, I've shown pictures and discussed with them what I wanted but they can never seem to get it right. Instead they default to a generic taper short off the sides and medium top cut, but then why tell me you can do the cut or even have experience with it? Is it my head shape? Face? Am I too ugly? Communicate that to me before you decide to just ignore the conversation we had and just free style. It's frustrating because I am growing out my hair for this cut and they do what they want. I don't want to be rude and stop you mid cut but then why am I paying so much just to be left unsatisfied? Most of the men leaving the place have the same exact cut. Anything longer than a short to medium cut is a no go, those cuts look clean and nice. Kept going in with shoulder length wavy hair just to get butchered every time.

One jackass who charges $100 for a haircut talked about how a real barber (such as himself of course) only does 4 haircuts an hour. Really 4 haircuts an hour? That's 15 minutes each, which after getting in and out of the chair and prepping and combing equals about 10 minutes. You might as well go to supercuts to get that sort of crap haircut. Which brings me to Jerry's! If you are in the city and want to spend 1/3 of what some hipster doofus barber will charge you then check out Jerry's! I used to go to Jerry's consistently when I first started working in midtown but started going to a place in jersey near where I lived at the time, though I still pop over once in a while. If you are in midtown and want a good haircut, this is the place (great if you work in midtown and the boss is giving you crap about your shaggy hair). Mostly older barbers who can do a variety of styles (though I doubt they do shaggy hipster/bieber cuts).They give a very thorough, careful haircut. Usually lasts at least 25 minutes, since they actually take their time and go over it more than once to make sure it is perfect. It is pricey around $30ish I believe, but hey, its in midtown. And of course they use a straight razor, and less importantly but still really cool, they have an ancient hand cranked hot towel machine! P.S. Its very difficult to find (buried in the basement) so ask for directions at one of the rock center info desks located at each entrance.

I was introduced to this barber shop over 2 years ago by an old colleague of mine. I first walked into the place and was immediately greeted by 3 different barbers which made the feeling of the place great! I have always been the person that was EXTREMELY PICKY by who cut my hair, where I would drive all the way to NJ to my barber that cut my hair since I was a little kid. I finally decided to make a change and get my haircut by SEAN. He's young, friendly, accommodating and is up to date with all the current styles. I'm not sugar coating anything, but he definitely does the best and freshest cuts I've ever had. Unless I move out of state, Sean will be my guy that I always get my hair cut by. Even though I only get my cuts by him, I've never seen any other customer upset about theirs by any of the other barbers. They also do the old school hot shaves with the straight razor and hot towels, which is an even bigger plus about this place. Nothing like getting an awesome cut and hot shave read more

Shawn, 2nd generation, working the chair next to his dad, ensures they'll be a great barber 2 blocks away til my last haircut & beard trim with a hot lather straight razor shave. I'm one of 8 sons & the only one not bald. SHAWN Simply amazing. Takes the time to listen to what you want, then with great care, completes the mission. I asked the barber to for a 3 length, and he cut it with no guards at all instead. When I asked why he skinned half my head, he said this is number 3 guard clipper (note: no guards, just metal). The barber didn't even know that you have to put on the guards to control length of the cut. The other barbers tried to brush this off and offered no apology. This place is the standard of incompetence. P.S. Looking at the other reviews now, I see that other customers have had the same issue. Look at the reviews left by: John D., Michael P., Jun Z., Michael I., Julian D., Mike H., Christian R., Peter P., and more. So this looks like a recurring issue. Judging from the other positive reviews they have, it seems they used to be good in the past, but the success got to their head and they are now being careless and irresponsible. read more

I just recently moved to the Upper East Side and have been looking for a good place for a haircut...looks like I found it. I stumbled into David's barber shop a few minutes after their advertised closing at 7pm. "No problem". Sean was willing to cut my hair. I was actually extremely nervous, as I have been getting my hair cut by the same woman for the past few years now. Well, I don't even remember her name at this point because my haircut from David's was that good. Sean knows what he's doing. He's detailed and he's pretty fast too. He took the time to make sure he and I were both on the same page about my preferences and continued to ask for my feedback. Friendly guy, too. The gentlemen in my family always told me the golden value of any hair cutting service - "Keep it short. $20, tip included." I've been visiting Sean and his expert Russian barbers for a family-style type of service at an optimal cost for the past two years. Even if there are multiple gents in line, the efficiency of the barbers that run this joint will ensure a speedy cut - so quick that you'll be out the door with a self-conceited grin on your face and a mindset yelping out, "Damn, I'm the alpha male of 84th street!" Quality and time aside, this barbershop can summon the nostalgia of a bygone decade where everyday drivers still drove stick-shift, yet can still purchase a young man's haircut. So I went to this place before and got just a quick cut. I wasn't too keen on it. But when I went back for another haircut, I wasn't disappointed. Shawn cut my hair the second time, and I don't think I'll ever go to anyone else again. He was friendly, idle chat made for a comfortable atmosphere, and he asked which things I prefered for my cut and shave. By far a nice little place. Brings you back to the old NYC. Also, a plus that you can get your watches fixed there while you get a haircut! The prices are great, and if you need your beard done, you can do that here too. Look David's is a great place, but it depends on who you get. I've had to time when I go in to make sure I don't get the barber who I'm not the biggest fan of..does he do a decent cut? I moved to the city 6 months ago and found Davids Barber shop looking on Yelp. I am a person that is very picky when it comes to someone cutting my hair so when I find someone who can cut hair REALLY good I stick with them. I met Sean the first time i went into Davids Barber Shop. He is a very cool, down to earth guy that is a master of his craft! I have never been disappointed with a single hair cut. After 5 years of having the same barber in Astoria, Queens - he decides to relocate to New Jersey. I was forced to look for a different barber and wow was it a great move. I walked into David's Barbershop and right off the back there were some of the friendliest people greeting you. I have rarely thick hair for a Hispanic person and therefore extremely picky about who cuts my hair. Sean was amazing. He was really patient and knowledgable. Highly recommend this barber shop. I found it very difficult finding a new barber after moving from the bronx to manhattan, but heard very good reviews from other yelpers re: this barber shop. Definitely look for a gentleman by the name of Sean. Very patient, social, and efficient which is what Im looking for in a barber. Great haircut at a reasonable price, best barber I've been to on the UES. Shawn remembers exactly what I want, buzzes the sides and scissors the top and doesn't get lazy even though I have gel in my hair like they do at other places just because they don't want to get gel on their hands. It's always quick and always comes out perfect. I usually read without worrying about whether or not he is going to cut it too long or short and by the time i look up he is usually done and always comes out great. Highly recommend it! read more

I got there by my friend's advice. 3 excellent barbers (almost no line), personal treatment to everybody, knows various languages (russian, hebrew, spanish, english, bukhori). The work is very professional and quick, very good if you are short in time and need a professional haircut. Price: funny prices in comparison to other New York's barber shops, only 15$ for a haircut, 9$ for beard trim. Sean is a class act. He always welcomed you when you walk in. David's Has an old school feel to it. They all do a tremendous job, especially Sean. I am extremely picky about my hair and am never satisfied but when I leave here I always am. Sean takes the time to listen to you and create the look you are going for. When I moved into the city I tried a few barbers and I didn't really like the results. I tried a salon but $50 bucks on a haircut is too much. I passed by David's one day and stopped in. It seems like a pretty standard barbershop, but overall I was impressed. The wait was brief, but most importantly I got a good haircut. I've been going here for haircuts and goatee trims for about 2 years now and not only have I been very happy with the results every time, I've never seen a bad haircut on anyone leaving the shop. All the barbers seem totally able to do current styles as well as classic cuts, and do them all well. Recently moved to New York from San Diego about 6 months ago. Had a really tough time finding a barbershop I could trust. I went to a few places in the city that were okay, but extremely over priced. Luckily a friend of mine recommended Sean and I haven't looked back! I get a trim on top (side part), 2 and a half on the sides with a taper. We recently moved into the neighborhood and on the advice of a friend, who told me that if i wanted…read morean exceptional haircut from the classiest and oldest barbershop in New York City, I had to go to Paul Mole! And my friend, Richard was right! While I did not have an appointment, I was fortunate that Benny was available because he did an absolutely phenomenal job trimming my beard. Before writing my review, i read some of tho other comments and I was surprised by some negative comments. Personally speaking, i cannot recall ever having such an extraordinary experience where Benny used not one but two hot towels as he shaved and trimmed my beard. While i went with the intention of just dealing with my unkempt beard, i was so delighted by Benny's handiwork, I asked if he should cut my hair? To my surprise he declined saying I really could wait a month! This really impressed me, since i was prepared to spend more money since iI was loving being pampered! It's worth a visit just to experience where Im sure many movies have been filmed and to read all the inscriptions from famous actors and celebrities, and just being a customer, you'll feel like one too!
