David's Bridal was my first stop for wedding dress shopping. For me, trying on wedding dresses was not the most comfortable thing I have ever done and the staff at David's Bridal sure did not help make me feel any more comfortable. I felt more like an item on an assembly line than anything else. Sandy helped me and I don't think she complimented me once or pointed out anything knowledgeable about the fits or styles of the different dresses. She gave up quickly when I was not liking some styles even though I was pointing out the simple things I liked about some of the dresses I had already tried on. She did not seem to truly understand what I was looking for as a client. I know that David's Bridal is a budget wedding dress shop but I expected much more. I worked in a woman's clothing store for 3 years and it is not hard to make clients happy if you are knowledgeable about your product. After shopping at a few other stores for my dress I became even more frustrated by my experience at David's Bridal. There are not even mirrors in the rooms where you try your dress on. You have to walk out to a group of people and turn around before getting to see what YOU like like in your dress. Unfortunately, David's Bridal is one of the biggest budget dress shops in the area so if you end up there good luck to you. read more

I went to David's Bridal for my one and only wedding dress shopping trip with my mom and a friend. It was a fun and successful trip, but could have been much, much better. The good: I found a beautiful dress within my budget of $500. I tried on several dresses under $500 and I thought all of them were at least decent and a couple were beautiful. My salesperson was helpful and ended up making one dress suggestion that wasn't on my list - that was the one I bought. The OK: Bummer that you have to go up a size. I'm barely an 8 and had to wear a 10. It's the opposite of vanity sizing. Give a bride a break! I didn't get any negative comments about my wedding being 'only' 4 months away, which other brides had warned me about regarding bridal salons in general. The bad: - The woman running the front desk where everyone checks in (older, blond, short) was extremely rude. I had to fill out a form when I got to the front and I asked if there was somewhere else I could complete it since there were people waiting in line behind me. She said 'you might as well just stand here to fill it out, even though there are tons of people behind you'. I was so confused by the comment that I kinda laughed, figuring she just had to be making a bad joke. My friend later told me that nope, the woman was just being rude. She was curt and unpleasant to everyone in front of us as well. - Had to wait up front for a long time after checking in. That in itself is understandable since they were busy (there was a sale going on), but no one told how how long we should expect to wait for someone, or who was going to be helping us. We just stood there for 15 minutes hoping they hadn't forgotten about us. - The dressing rooms are extremely small considering you are always in there with your salesperson. - No champagne allowed. I guess you can have it in all the higher-end bridal salons. No biggie, just one more reminder that you're in the TJ Maxx of bridal salons (cracked up when I saw that in a review below mine, since I had said the same thing) read more

I was very happy with the girl that helped us the day my wedding party came in and tried on dresses. However one of my girls was never contacted that her dress arrived. Another girl who went in to pick up her dress was told the others girl's dress was there and she could take it if she wanted. Luckily she was close with the other girl. Another one tried calling a few times over 2 weeks and was told each time that the dress wasn't there and wouldn't be for a few weeks still. The third or fourth time she called they told her the dress was there and had been over 10 days and if she didn't pick it up that day they would send it back. When asked what if she couldn't get there that day they basically said "oh well." It was lucky she even contacted them so often to know the dress was there. The girl she talked to was no help and was unapologetic even though they never contacted her like they said they would. Only giving 2 stars because the girl that helped us the day my wedding party came in was very nice and helpful. read more

The first appointment my bridesmaids and I had with Dorina. She was very helpful and energetic, and assisted us with finding the perfect bridesmaid dresses. The store was very busy but whenever Dorina checked on us she gave us her full attention and offered assistance and advice. I went in with a good friend to look for a dress for my upcoming wedding. Jessica D. helped us and she was amazing. I'm usually not fond of being helped but she nailed it. We tried on a few dresses and I was having a hard time as my favorite was way out of my price range. She brought out a wildcard as the last dress and I fell in love. It was expensive but luckily, they had really good options for me to be able to get it. She even picked out a headpiece that fits perfectly! I cannot wait to debut this dress! I feel like I speak for a lot of ladies when I say wedding/bridesmaid dress shopping is one of the most exciting parts of wedding planning. Unfortunately I had a terrible experience at this location and wish I would have listened to the previous reviews. I scheduled an appointment to try wedding dresses on. I arrived about 20 minutes early with a few of my bridesmaids. We looked around for a bit until my appointment time. From what I gathered, the associate that was scheduled to help me pick dresses out was still with another bride pass my scheduled time, which I understand, picking wedding dresses is very time consuming. So now we are about 20+ minutes pass my scheduled time, it's about 8:00 and they close at 9:00. so we decided to grab the some dresses, so I can start trying them on so I can get an idea of my dress size and what I would like. I've tried on at least three dresses when one of the workers approaches us and ask if we are "just playing around" or are we seriously trying dresses on. I was slightly offended especially when I've been waiting for someone to help me for 30 minutes at this point. So finally have a sale associate to help and I explain my max price and the style I'm looking for. She pulls a few dresses all beyond my price range. For me price is very important and would sway my opinion of the dress, so I asked the price of the dress and she said she had no clue and then hid the price tag in my dress so I would not be able to see. The cheaper dresses I had saved for just in case, she made me rate them on scale from 1-10, and get ride of them if they weren't rated about an 8. I like the dresses all for different reasons. Until she showed up, my mother was helping me get into the dresses and we were doing fine. She kicked my mom out of the fitting room, and comes in and has me undress in front of her. I've never been through this experience before so I wasn't sure if she needed to be in the changing room or not. But it made me very uncomfortable and not very professional. She also put her hand down the front of my dress to adjust my breast. I could easily done that myself or she could have even asked to adjust me. At this point, I'm very disappointed, upset and uncomfortable. I was about to call a quits. She did find a beautiful dress above my price range that I really did like. It was a beautiful dress, so I decided that was the one. A little bit of me was just eager to get the experience over with. I'm sure the associates get commission and it's part of their job to make a "big sale" but from a brides stand point, I have a budget and I wanted to stay with it. I'm glad she made her commission. I would not recommend this location, only as a last resort. I only gave them two stars because they did find my wedding dress and they did have very beautiful dresses. read more

I am very disappointed in your company. I went with a bride to pick out my bridesmaid dress. I ordered it there and was told that once they received it, I needed to call for them to ship it. I asked if it could be shipped directly to me and was told no. I asked if they could ship it to my local store and was also told no. It came in today. After being transferred to 4 different departments, I was told it would be $15 in shipping. Something that was not at all disclosed when I ordered it. Had it been, I would have ordered at my local store. If this is how you handle customers, consider me a one time buyer and a lifetime naysayer of David's bridal. read more

Bad experiences from the beginning. I don't know what I was expecting considering my experience was right on par with any other encounter that I or anyone I know has had at any David's. We had an appointment to try bridesmaid dresses. It was a disaster. They were way over booked and we had to share a dressing room! The person "running" the show had no idea what she was doing and no one ever offered to help us and no one ever took our measurements. Then, against my better judgement, I had the dress altered there. So now I have a dress that doesn't fit even after I spent $100 on alterations. They told me it was just the way the dress is designed. I highly doubt it was designed for my breasts to basically be uncovered. I actually purchased a larger size specifically so that it would be larger to fit my chest. I thought about making a stink about it, but they clearly don't care so why bother? Update: The manager called me the next day after seeing my negative review. She brought me in and had my dress fixed in only one day. I appreciated that but even she kept saying, "this is a good fit for us." That statement alone says loads about their overall lack of skill or knowledge and lack of pride in their work. A seamstress who was much more knowledgeable than the first did improve my dress' fit. However she ended up removing the cups for which I had already paid $30 and I was never refunded that money. I have unfortunately had to purchase a dress for another event from them since but I had my alterations done elsewhere. read more

Went with two of my bridesmaids to try on bridesmaid dresses this past Friday. My bridesmaids are all over the country, so I was really set on using David's Bridal so the whole thing would be as hassle free as possible since they have locations everywhere. I had an appointment, and when we walked in Paula was very helpful and told us our consultant was just finishing up with her bride and would be with us shortly. We looked at some dresses, picked a few out, and Paula (not our consultant) showed us to our two fitting rooms, assuring us our consultant would be with us shortly. We spent an hour and a half trying on dresses, and literally no one approached us as our consultant. A few people came by and asked if I needed any help, but would help with the one minor thing I would ask for and then disappear. At that point, we already had dresses picked out anyway, not sure what they would help with. One employee on the floor asked about my wedding day, and literally walked away while I was in the middle of talking. I asked someone on the floor after we were done looking to find out what I should expect from an appointment. I was told they would measure my bridesmaids for sizing, pick out dresses, go over options for us, note the dress choice in the system so my bridesmaids could just come and pick it up as needed, etc. Absolutely none of that happened. The woman I told this to just said "Oh." No apology, no get the manager to fix this, nothing. I am spending a lot of time looking elsewhere for a bridesmaids dress, and am refusing to go through David's Bridal. read more

Kelly K. was our consultant and was AWESOME !! Super personable, funny and easy to deal with. She was patient as I tried on dress after dress(only to get the first one I tried on!), and really tried to work with me to find what I liked. Also, she helped my Maid of Honor & Bridesmaid with their dresses as well. She was solely the reason we were there, as she scooped us from a bridal show at the palace. She assured us great service, and boy did she deliver ! Oh...and if you find your dress, she gives a speech that brought me to tears ! Without a doubt, when going to this location of David's, ask for Kelly ! : ) Sadly, yelp would not allow me to write a 2nd review. So...I have to bring something negative to light on Kelly's glowing review. I only had Kelly, because my first experience was SO poor that she wanted the opprotunity to turn it around for us(myself, my sister, mother & grandmother) & show us better service. Our first experience was terrible from the over half an hour we waited to start, to the sassy and rude consultant who made snide comments in my direction. She was unhelpful and seemed annoyed with me from the beginning. Normally I wouldn't write something so negative, but when we went back to our appointment with Kelly, the original consultant(Michelle) glared at us, snickered in our direction and repeatedly made eye contact with me only to roll her eyes. The eye rolling probably happened a minimum of five separate times. I'm not sure what the issue was, but I can only say that she was the least professional person I have had the displeasure of working with ! I gave this location a 1 star review after our first visit there. However, after talking to one of their associates, Kelly K, at a bridal show we were convinced to give them another chance. We went in for a consultation with Kelly K and had the experience we had been hoping for all along. She was funny, patient, and caring. She brought dress after dress to my daughter but never seemed impatient. She seemed to genuinely want to find the dress of my daughter's dreams. The total opposite of our previous visit, where my daughter was told to get the dress of her dreams out of her head (!!). Kelly even made us all cry a little with the sweet ritual she has the bride-to-be do after she says yes to the dress. My daughter found a dress she loves and we all left happy. To Kelly K I would give a 5 star rating. However, this rating is for the store, not the employee, so I am averaging Kelly's 5 stars with the store's 1 star and giving it a 4, solely because of Kelly K.. They need to make some changes in their process. They overbook appointments, and have the consultants running around helping multiple parties. It gets so crowded on weekends that no one can get good service. Better bridal shops do not do that. Also, they have zillions of negative comments all saying the same thing yet they seem to feel no need to make any changes. They are obviously after quantity, not quality. Lastly, I have been to the David's bridal in Novi and Grand Rapids and they both seemed much better: calmer, less overbooked or maybe better staffed. I went this morning for my first dress shopping experience, and I was glad that I did! Everyone was kind, curteous, and ridiculously helpful. I specifically worked with Justine, who gave me a great experience! She listened to what I wanted and helped me pick out different options, and, even better, was able to "translate" what I didn't like about specific dresses in order to help me narrow down my preferences. While I didn't find my dress, there was no pressure to buy something I didn't absolutely love, and she gave me a good idea of when to make a followup appointment to see new dresses they would have in stock in a few months. This is not a "fancy" place, where they'll bring you champagne and cater to your every whim, but the consultants appear to be friendly, helpful, and thorough. Had a great experience at this location when I stopped in today. I was helped quickly even though they were short staffed. Shay was very friendly and helpful. She not only measured me and found the dress my sister picked out for her bridesmaids but also grabbed the junior bridesmaid dress for my daughter to try on. She did a great job juggling more than one customer and was great with my three kids while we were there. Yes, three kids. So this could've been a very unpleasant experience but she was so on top of things that it made everything go smoothly. Such a pleasure to work with her. I had a 10:30 appointment, at which time I had to wait about 15 minutes for a sales person (not even sure of her name as I was so distracted by her wiping her nose on the sleeve of her shirt), when she arrived she was actually looking for someone else, not me but took me anyway. Now she had 2 brides to deal with. She asked very little about my style and did not make any recommendations once she saw what I was looking for (simple and elegant for a beach destination) - she really left it to us to look and pick off the rack, she wasn't there to recommend accessories or anything. The floor looked like it had not been vacuumed in quite some time and I was not willing to take off my socks. I will not purchase from here and will not recommend them. The staff and management came to my rescue when I went in for alterations three weeks before I was to stand in a wedding with a very oversized dress. The alteration estimate was $210, more than the dress itself. The staff jumped into action trying to figure out if there was a way I could order and get a replacement dress in time. I simply can not recommend. I have to admit, I like my dress and that's what I came for but pretty much aside from that you can pick what could go wrong and apply it. I knew ahead of time from reviews as well as previous eff-ups (they ordered the entirely wrong set of sizes for bridesmaids at my sister's wedding 7 years ago - on a dress that was discontinued... and acted like WE were at fault) that this was not going to be the "dream dress fitting" you see in movies. But guess what, this is a second wedding - an elopement with a big white dress because I'm a frickin princess - and I'm totally ok with doing all the work. So how can you screw this up? I actually am coming here because I don't want all the fu-fu. Well, you can. I come in and a woman at the podium (of a very empty store) asks me my reason for coming I explain I'm looking for a wedding dress and she tells me to. I stare at the blur of white and off white in plastic packaging and ask "May I have a book or magazine perhaps?" Forgivable, I guess. So I stare at dresses and mark a few and finally ask if I can have a salesperson show me them to try on. At this point, I'm asked my wedding date, email, grooms name, etc. I explain this is something that will be spur of the moment and not a big deal - an elopement, I just want the dress (pretty much the only thing I require besides the ring and license is a big white dress), this didn't prevent me from stupidly giving up my info which I've been bombarded with spam ever since (don't think you can "unsubscribe easily either, the info is sold to multiple places you must unsubscribe from). So I get a saleswoman who after not really listening to what I wanted in a dress (most I didn't try on I just looked at saying "Not really" and thinking "Hell no"). But eventually she did find me a dress that she said was clearance out. I liked it and the price (I never stay under budget and for once I did). However, she pressured me repeatedly into buying it right then. She pretty much told me that if I did not buy it that evening I might not get it ever again. I know better than to buy the first thing I see so I say that's a risk I will take. I did look around and I did come back to the dress. Well, lucky for me I find it online WITH a sale and free shipping... so I just order it that way. I figure now no salesperson can muck this up - I ordered it myself. Well, would you believe when I got the dress there was an obvious lipstick stain inside of the top. It was a try-on or return dress. Again, I don't mind because a) you can't see it and b) As I have mentioned I am just looking for a pretty white dress I like on me... but I could only imagine 99%of every female I ever have met's horror if they encountered this type of crap. So, in short, I like my dress but this place is the Murphy's Law of weddings... do it as much yourself and give yourself the space (and pre-conditioning) to expect screw ups. read more

I went to David's bridal this weekend to try on bridesmaid dress and was very disappointed in the service. Not only was the first consultant I talk to rude, but she was completely unhelpful. Instead of answering my questions or helping in any way she waiting for anther consultant to walk up to help me. Then while I was being helped, the first consultant interrupted the woman helping me to have her help others. I will not being going back to this David's bridal. I don't know if they were more busy than they expected to be or if they are just really understaffed, but if you want someone to actually help and listen to you, I would go somewhere else. I was also disappointed in they did not have even close to my size in the dress, even though the dress is part of the new line. I also noticed they didn't carry small sizes (0-6) hardly at all. read more

Very disappointing processes and POOR customer service, David's Bridal. There were so many things about buying our dress there that could have been better. You are currently the biggest "game" in town, but if you only rely on that you won't be for long. Mark my words - without changes, I give you 5 years to have a major competitor start taking your market share. Your reps need to answer with more than "I don't know" when customers have a question about how your alterations work. If you want people to pick up their paid for purchase within 7 days of it arriving, you probably ought to let them know that at purchase? Just a few no-brainers. I would never buy a dress at this location again. Wouldn't have bought this one if the bride hadn't chosen it (and had terrible experiences also). The sales consultant did not ask me what I was looking for in a dress and was pulling dresses over my budget.
