He repeatedly pointed out that the carpets I was considering were "cheap," and when he mentioned another one was around $4,000, it came with a "well, that's expensive -- what's your budget?" tone rather than an attempt to genuinely guide me. I went in because I'm not an expert and wanted knowledgeable advice, but I left feeling unwelcome and talked down to, which was disappointing given the positive reviews I had read beforehand.

We decided on a dark red statement rug from turkey with handwoven wool and a beautiful border. We love it (this was months ago and I'm just getting to writing about it) but if we hadn't, he offered a three day trial with the option to return and exchange if it didn't fit in our space how we hoped. After coming here for so long you'd think I know everything about this store, but a few weeks ago I learned something new and really valuable. Every department has a clearance section!!! YES!!!! Every department! There's clearance for candles, body wash, men's fragrances, kitchen wares, food and drink, furniture, everything! They also mark down anything from a recent holiday, up to 90% off!! Come on, in this economy who doesn't love a deal? If you can't find one of the clearance sections, just ask someone. All of the employees are so nice and helpful. My favorite clearance areas are the 33% and 55% off food racks located at the back of the store. They are loaded with yummy food - like salami, pasta, gnocchi, baked goods, sodas, coffee, tea, chips, candy - and everything is heavily discounted. A lot of the items have been discontinued, so this is the last chance to buy them. It's the first place I head when I walk in. I've left before with a full grocery bag for less than $8. They're WAY overpriced. We worked with them to try to get the project started for three weeks then gave up. They wanted 100% of our money before the project even began. We ended up going through Whole Wood in San Carlos for our hardwood and we worked with Rolando Lopez at Pure Wood Flooring to complete the project. They were amazing! No joke, we got more done in one day with them than three weeks with the Floor Store. Stay far away from the Floor Store unless you want overpriced material and slow, ineffective communication.

That generosity and honesty is rare. Her staff, Sam and Samantha, were also extremely friendly and made me feel like I was part of a family business.
