My daughter just visited this location for an eye exam which she has not had in over 4 years. The staff treated her terrible and she came home crying. I am writing this review while still sitting in the waiting room to be seen for a "virtual exam." This is the most slow paced location I have ever experienced. I don't understand the point of making an appointment if they don't see you until 40 minutes after. Complete waste of time. read more

Horrible. I haven't been able to go to work in over a week because they never sent me my contacts and I can't drive a car. They won't pick up the phone and the call lines with the representatives take over 45 minutes to reach someone. When you finally reach a human they say they will email the manager and the regional assistant and then you never get a return phone call. I will never EVER trust these people with my vision again. I've been waiting on a family member to find the time to drive to Long Island just to physically go to the store and figure out what the hell is going on. Thank god my employer isn't a jerk because I would have been fired by now. read more

After reading positive reviews, our family visited for the first time. It was a great experience. We didn't wait at all, were seen quickly despite it appearing full. We saw two different doctors, they were very friendly, answered all questions, and even asked some. The people out front were very helpful, and took the time to explain all prices and insurance options. A great experience. read more

Dr hammer didn't seem interested in answering any of my questions. This was my second time with him. The associate who sold me the frames didn't consider anything about how the frames fit my head. He almost completed a sale when the frames clearly didn't fit my head. Specifically the arms of the frames were totally too short. I had to persist and then get the XL frames. He took no measurements of my head or width of face. There was no flexibility with price. They would have charged me retail for frames and lenses which would have cost well over $600 (not even a recognized brand) but I had a 50 percent off coupon so I was able to pay about $330. They need better customer service and more flexibility with pricing. I will not go back after a few years of going to that store. My insurance doesn't even cover this company, so why bother? read more

Customer service stinks. They overbook their appointments. I spent 2 1/2 hours at this place on my second appt. The doctors are subpar. Dr. Hammer can't handle the job After 3 sets of trial contacts I still can't see and am experiencing headaches. Now I'm out the $80 exam fee and need to start over somewhere with competent people. Still very friendly when I got there., fast service my son had his eye exam, chose his glasses and we were out of there within an hour. will most definitely return to this specific location. I am so unbelievably fed-up with this location. In my opinion, every time I have visited the service has been extremely poor, the prices are absurdly high, and the wait is extended. To clarify 'extremely poor' service, the workers seem disinterested and ignore you at times. From a price perspective, all the brands and frames seem nondescript, but the cost is surprising (same goes for the contact lenses). In regards to the wait, I've walked in (and been with others) to 'pick something up quickly,' and ended up staying between twenty and thirty minutes, with periodic updates that 'they're looking for it.' Normally I give employees the benefit of the doubt, but the sheer number of times this has happened is unbelievable, and this seems to be a systematic problem at this venue. If you need eye care, look elsewhere (pun definitely intended). read more

I won't even give this place one star! but I had no choice but to put a rating. If there would be an actual rating it would be in the negatives! I would not recommend going to this vision works they are extremely unprofessional and discriminatory at least the young lady at the front desk was. I couldn't believe with the few minutes I've spent there would horrify me enough to never go back there! I would not recommend this location to anyone who holds melanin. If so good luck. Had put off getting an eye exam for the longest time because of costs and generally finding the experience frustrating, but I needed a new prescription for my eyeglasses and it had been some time since I had one. People walking-in complaining about wait times don't realize the high volume of people that attend this location, which in itself is proof that they're doing something right. I had made an appointment ahead of time, at the time of my appointment there were a lot of people in the store but no one was waiting for more than 5 minutes, and I was seen very quickly. Every single staff member was extremely friendly and professional and made me feel at ease. The actual eye exam was so quick and easy, and the optometrist was really kind and patient. All in all a great experience, happy to come here again in the future. read more

I went in to this location for an annual eye exam + contacts consultation--a seemingly routine process and something an OPTOMETRIST'S office would have plenty of experience in. The staff provided terrible customer service and made me feel unwelcome. The optometrist was especially rude and cold. She took no time to address my personal needs and barely addressed any of the questions I had. What's more, my eyeglass & contact prescriptions had been printed in the front office at the end of my exam which took the staff about 15 minutes just to locate. Left the store feeling like I could have conducted the exam better myself. read more

They never clarified the promo and swore up and down the one pair would be billed through the insurance for the cheaper frames....they never submitted the claim which was supposed to be submitted back in March, I paid half price for a more expensive pair of frames. My husband purchased his glasses at this place about a year ago, they push all of these fancy new things on you when you purchasing your glasses, so, because his glasses are part of his everyday life, he said yes to all of there (scams) upgrades... Fast forward 360 days, warranty is about to expire, something happens to his glasses, and guess what..... NOT COVERED? They specifically said the lenses were covered against scratches and all of a sudden they no longer cover this??? After a phone call to the corporate office, they claim they will now "discount" the lenses for him. This is terrible business practice!!! I ordered a pair of glasses from Visionworks Centereach. When I pick up the glasses there were scratches on both lenses. Four employee at the location didn't see the scratches. I had to start screaming and they finally agreed to replace the glasses. I called the corporate headquarters and was told the district manager was Lucy and I requested she call me back. Of course she didn't and the office manager of the location said Lucy was too busy to call me. The store manager then suggested I go to the Setauket location. Way to handle a pair of damaged glasses from the Centereach location tell the person to go to another location. Beware if you order glasses from the Centereach NY location there may be scratches and the only way the issue will be resolved is if you start screaming. The customer service at this location is a total nightmare. Don't buy glasses at the Visionworks location in Centereach NY. read more

It was time for my annual vision check and my appointment was yesterday. From the moment I walked in the door until I left the establishment it was the most positive experience I have ever had at that location. Every employee I interacted with was helpful and attentive but the reason I felt compelled to write a review was the help I got from the Optician, Stephen. It was the first time in years that anyone had helped me find a pair of glasses that was right for me. Stephen showed me frames covered by my insurance and when I could find anything I liked, he helped me find the exact frame I was looking for. It was one I had selected for my next to last pair of glasses. He looked in the computer, found what I had previously purchased and went through all the drawers until he located them. Stephen went above and beyond in helping me and provided a level of service I was not used to or expecting. The entire process was quick, and literally and figuratively painless. read more

I am giving Angela one of the Retail Supervisors at this store the 5 stars!! I have to say she was wonderful!!! I went to another Davis location the day before and picked up my glasses, when I got them, I told them that I wasn't happy with them-- they looked too big and bulky on my face, and I don't know why the salesperson and I picked them out. They made me to take them home to see if I changed my mind (because they were to busy to do an exchange at that time) and that if I didn't like them I could come back. I was already upset but I wore them for one full day, and everyone told me that they did not look good on me and that the person helping me should have told me that. The next day I had to work, but afterwards I rushed over to the Centereach store and by the time I got there it was 20 minutes before they were closing I was a total crazy I person from rushing over there and now had to go through the whole ordeal of picking out new frames, I knew that the store would not be happy because they were just about to close. Angela came over to me, she asked me if she could help me, and I told her what had happened, and I apologized for it being so late, at this time all of her Co-workers were leaving because it was time to go home, I asked her if she wanted me to come back she said "don't worry about it, I will stay here with you and pick out the right frames with you until you're happy.!" I have never met a more caring, sweet, helpful and PATIENT person!!! She helped me pick out 2 frames and didn't even rush. I have to once again say THANK YOU to Angela for being such a great help, and Supervisor!!! People should learn from you! read more
