Visited today because of the awesome reviews but i can't say that I was impressed. First, they got our orders wrong after repeating it a few times. Then I went to bite into my sandwich and my daughter yells, Mom stop, Don't eat that! I looked and my bread had mold. Then we checked the rest of the sandwiches and they were all the same. . I didn't have the heart to say anything to them or take it back. Just ate the pulled pork from the inside which did taste good. The Mac and cheese was oily but the cole slaw was good. One word, AMAZING! This is some of the best bbq I have had in years and we just happened to stumble into this shop, hungry and wanting bbq on our way home from Gatlinburg, TN. We stopped in and the place was pretty busy, but we only waited about 10 minutes to order and get our food. You order here cafeteria style and they put your food in to-go boxes and you can either stay their and eat or take it to go. I noticed they use some food delivery companies as well. We got the sampler platter and for $15 you get SO MUCH FOOD! You get 2 ribs, a full sausage, a big helping of both pulled pork and pulled chicken and 2 sides. For my sides I got the mac and cheese and the collard greens. WOW that Mac and Cheese was so good! It is rich and creamy and had the perfect equal amounts of mac and cheese, simply delicious. The Collard Greens were great as well. They were the kind of greens you find in the south. I could not stop eating them. They had the right amount of heat and vinegar taste. I loved them so much. The ribs were fall off the bone tender. They didn't even need bbq sauce, but I added some and it made them even better. Those ribs alone were just GREAT! The sausage was my second favorite. It was a big thick sausage and had the best flavor I have had in a while. I dipped the sausage in the sweet sauce and it made it even better. The pork and chicken were both very good and full of flavor. I would 100% recommend people trying this place out. I might be a little spoiled living in Birmingham with so many good options. While visiting Athens, I found this place walking distance from my hotel and paid a visit for lunch. This place is perfect for the money conscious consumer; I got a pork plate with mac n cheese and collard greens and sweet tea for $9.90 (tax included). I don't think I've found a better deal around Birmingham or GA! The pork was good, but not my favorite and could have used a little more sauce. The sides though were very excellent, with some of the best greens I've eaten! There were unlimited refills with tea, so that was what I liked as well. This is a great place for a cheap bite in Athens. Not a Dawg fan (Roll Tide Roll) but this place was pretty "dawg gone good!" Hands down this establishment has to be one of the best BBQ restaurants in Athens, GA. This is a local family owned BBQ place that has authentic Southern BBQ. Everything and I do mean everything we had was absolutely amazing. From the home made Pink Lemonade, MAC and Cheese, Collard Greens and Cole Slaw to obviously all the BBQ items and the pepper jack corn bread. Simply amazing. I also have to say that the owners are lots of fun and engaging with their customers. You can expect to hear some jokes and enter in to some friendly conversation. While we where there the owner even sang for a bit for some of us that were eating in. I will offer you that the Pink Lemonade is the owners grandmothers recipe, which is why I imagine it was so good. Not just saying guys, this was the beat pink lemonade I have tasted ever. The Collard Greens and Cole Saw are also family recipes and they were awesome as well. To be honest we could not make up our minds on what to have so we went for broke and all had the sampler platter which included Chicken, Baby Back Ribs, Shredded Pork and Shredded Beef. To compliment we tried out their home made mustard and vinegar BBQ sauces which were awesome. No kidding the meat items practically melt in your mouth as they where cooked to perfection. Parking is available in the rear but street parking is also available nearby if it's full. Prices are also reasonable as the sampler platter we had was less than $20 and well worth it. I am sure that there are other BBQ places in Athens, GA that are great but If you find yourself driving through or visiting Athens and have a craving for great Southern BBQ, you have to visit this family owned BBQ restaurant.
