DISHONEST SCAM! They contract jobs out to independent contractors without telling you, and then…read morecharge you almost 3 times the going rate. I called for a locksmith because l got locked out of my house. San Carlos Lock and Key said one of his guys would call me back to confirm a time. The locksmith said he would arrive in 30 minutes but arrived in 45 minutes which wasn't too bad, but he charged me $385 just to pick a lock. Other locksmiths called me back within that time and said the job is $150, but I told them I already have a locksmith scheduled. San Carlos Lock and Key does not send their own guys. Instead, they contract the job out to whoever is available. They pay the contractors about $150 and they keep about $235 for simply being a relay telephone service. I know these relay services for contractors exist, and I intentionally did not hire any company who said they do this. San Carlos Lock and Key TRICKED me, making me believe they were sending one of their own employees, and not a contractor. I called back to complain, and San Carlos Lock and Key said that the price is because of "this area". I'm only 25 minutes away from them, and other locksmiths said that same service is $150. So do not use this dishonest sham of a company.

I called that same evening and he picked up right away, I FaceTimed him and showed him the issue with my lock. He was very knowledgeable and said he would come first thing in the morning. The next morning, Frank came promptly ( brought an extra specialized lock just in case) and he took the time to assess what was wrong. Frank was very honest with me and said the underlying issue was not the lock but the leveling of my door. He could easily have replaced the lock and charged me for that as well as his time to come to the house. Instead, he DIDNT charge me and said he didn't do anything ( although he did adjust my lock a bit to help me utilize the lock temporarily). Although he didn't actually change my locks and I didn't fully use his service, I will promote his services to anyone and everyone I know both verbally and through social media because he deserves ALL the business because of his knowledge, hard work and HONESTY. The person who talked to me on the phone was very informative and understanding which made the process Very smoothly. Idk about the readers like you, but I know 0% of how changing locks, rekeying works. It was my first time knowing "rekeying" exists. But she was patient and kind to help me through. The actual locksmith came on time and actually tried his very best to make the lock fit my needs.
