The steak was great and cooked perfectly! The "baked" potato was obviously microwaved which made 1/2of it hard and inedible. They also microwaved the breadsticks with the same result. The pasta was just okay. The best part of the meal were the garlic French fries. They were great. The service was poor because our "waiter" was also the bartender and he got busy at the bar. Awesome food, both breakfast and lunch menu. Staff was great and so was the service. Bacon omelet and pancakes were outstanding. The turkey and jalapeño cheese sandwich was also outstanding. Went for a family dinner on a Saturday night. One guy at the bar and one family to our left. Despite the light crowd, service with our female server was extremely slow and daunting. Once she switched out to go home, service was great. My husband and I ordered the sea bass. The sea bass was perfect but the risotto was bland/ flavorless. Dawson's has been a Dixon staple since I was a kid. Dawson's was my first job back in high school. If Austin is working when you're here, I highly recommend asking for him. He's a very hard worker. Went here on weekday for breakfast. We sat at table in bar area with Baby. Waitress was so sweet to Baby & had a sense of humor. My breakfast was fresh and good.(no cheap bacon) However my Hubby's omelette had too much cheese. Will go back but next time will say (light on the cheese). read more

This place is amazing! Wonderful staff and great food. The pretzel is HUGE and comes with Dijon sauce & a white cheese sauce. The steak bites come on a salad with soft bread sticks & a sauce. The jalapeño mac n cheese was the best I have ever had. It is not too spicy at all and also has bacon. My kid ordered the kids grilled cheese and fries and ate every bite. Hubby had the Dawson's burger and fries and it was the second to the best burger he has ever had. They even have their own homemade ketchup. I got the fruit salad. I'm not really a bar guy, but after a series of dreadful occurrences, I found myself in need of several IPAs and some noise. The thing that normally happens when I drink is that I find I want to eat, and it usually leans to a hamburger and fries. Luckily for me I found myself at Dawson's Bar and Grill. The cold brew on tap led to a delicious burger and these unusual dill french fries. I'm pretty sure it wasn't the Evil Twin or cousin or whatever relation IPAs talking, but I swear it was one of the best combinations of fried potato and dill weed that I'd never even thought of. The burger was luscious too, hearty good beef, cooked well and encased in a bun with fresh tomato and lettuce. I was rejuvenated and sound enough to keep on trying. Thanks Dawson's. read more

We decided to have dinner at Dawson's tonight even though it was a chilly night. Man was I glad we did so. The waitress was so accommodating even though they are operating at such adverse conditions. Our table ordered a diverse selection of the menu, Chicken Piccata, Shrimp Tacos, Short Ribs and the Dawson's burger. All were absolutely amazing. The chicken piccata was so enjoyable. The server worked very hard to make sure all of our needs were met. A truly enjoyable experience except for one thing. Mary S, who left a negative review was sitting next to us and complained the whole time about everything, it was such a drag listening to them. Total drag and I just assume people like that just look for a reason to drag people down? What's the point? Dawson's is a great place to eat with owners and employees that show a great amount of cate for their diners, the quality of their food and drinks and the overall experience of dining here is always a great one! read more

Friday night with a party of ten in the back lot seating area. Kelise our waitress did a fantastic job the way she attended to our group. I was double fisting beers and steak bites because she provided superior friendly service: Make sure you tip her well because she's a hard worker and super sweet. I would like to start this review by saying that I was looking for something open during this tough time. We were excited to come here for dinner and have been to a couple other places in Dixon. However my friend and I both ordered the chicken piccata and the pasta was pretty awful, the chicken was edible though so no big deal. My mom enjoyed her fried chicken sandwich. We went inside to use the restroom though and one person who I am told worked there was sitting at the bar (no food in front of her) without a mask ok, the bartender also wasn't wearing a mask except when we came out of the restroom she pulled her mask above her mouth but below her nose and the lady in the kitchen had no mask on at all. We were obviously very concerned and asked our waiter about it to which he told us that's not surprising. I chose not to make a scene because it's been in my past experiences that when talking about covid protocols people are somewhat particular and very defendant about it. This is my honest review of how I feel about my experience here and nothing else. I won't be back. read more

Went to Lemuria's Nursery and ended up at Dawson's for lunch. I would describe the cooking as first rate home style cooking. I had a side spinach salad with home made dressing, lots of cropped egg, pickled mini onions and whole walnuts. It was soooo good. The sliders were excellent with toasted mini brioche buns. There aren't any good places to eat in Davis, so I will definitely be back. I want to check out Thursday's Farm to Table nights. Eating outside on the street was noisy. I wish there was a quiet, shady patio in back. Then I would give Dawson's six stars. read more
