For many years, I have placed to-go orders from Dayi'nin Yeri (Turkish for uncle's place), but this is the first time that we have dined inside. The restaurant is quaint, clean, and nicely decorated. Our server, Naomi, was excellent. She patiently answered all of our menu questions and was attentive throughout the entire meal. Each and every selection was delicious, divinely seasoned, and thoroughly enjoyed. I tried the Beyti Kabab, for the first time, and it was very good. The yogurt dressing center complemented the dish perfectly and I'm glad that I took Naomi's recommendation. There is one thing that this restaurant carries and I highly recommend it. It is called, "Special Bread." Ask for it and be prepared to enjoy a unique texture and taste. One of the best Turkish food restaurants! The service is amazing and the food is always SO INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS! Whenever in NJ, a stop at Dayinin Yeri is an absolute must. I always go for the shepherd salad with feta, hummus (with their freshly baked bread!) and, of course, an Ayran. Any meat dish, be it Kebab or Shawarma style, is so fresh and flavorful. They start you off with very fluffy and hot bread which was very good. We ordered the pide and the mixed grill. Pide was very good and flavorful & crispy exterior! I had dinner with a group of six at Dayi'nin Yeri on a Saturday. The restaurant is small, and only has street parking. We were seated quickly since the restaurant only had two other tables seated. The menu was pretty typical for Turkish/Mediterranean food. I got to try a few dips for appetizers, including labne and hummus. We also tried a lamb pidde, which is kinda like a Turkish pizza. For my entree, I got the doner kabab sandwich, which was served in either lavash or a tortilla. The labne and hummus were ok, and I've had much better pidde and doner kabab sandwiches at other restaurants for much lower prices. I also had a Turkish coffee to drink. Hole in the wall Turkish Middle Eastern cuisine that will impress your taste buds! I made a takeout order for their mixed platter and everything about it had the right flavors. The meat was seasoned and cooked perfectly. The addition of the grilled tomatoes, onions, and Mediterranean style rice helps compliment this dish. This was a great find - super authentic Turkish cuisine. It's a place the locals obviously frequent. The only downside is that they don't serve alcohol. It is apparently a BYOB but this wasn't communicated while I was making the reservation and also the restaurant is far from any other commercial establishments - situated in the middle of a residential area so we were stuck with a choice of non-alcoholic sodas and the like. Now for the good part! The food was on the whole absolutely delicious. I didn't even get pictures of some of the food we ordered because we were so busy devouring it. The Lahmacun, the Sigara Boregi and the Mixed Appetizers were all amazing! The Beyti Kebab was utter perfection! The only thing I didn't care for was the sliced eggplant appetizer with a yogurt topping. Can't remember the name. Unfortunately I have to give this place 2 stars. Although my boyfriend and I thought the food tasted good (the kunefe was a big highlight), my boyfriend had food poisioning after having lunch here. He didn't eat anything else that day, so we have to assume that it was due to our meal here. Additionally, the ambiance here is lacking. The space is quite small and dark - the only natural light comes from the front window and a small window in the back where the exit door is. Upon entering, I also thought the restaurant smelled strange...it was like the smell of cigarette smoke and some scent trying to cover up the smoke. The stuffed grape leaves (Yaprak Dolmasi) were succulent and tender. Unlike others I have had, these were neither overly saturated with lemon juice nor bland. The traditional hummus was a wonderfully creamy addition, pairing perfectly with the bread included with our order. The white bean and tomato salad with parsley and onions (Piyaz) was to live for. I might've shared a spoon or two, but I essentially scarfed down the entire salad myself. The star of the show, though, was the special puffy bread. This crispy masterpiece went with everything or was perfect all on its own. Went on a Thurs early evening. Ate inside - nice little restaurant - nicer on the inside than what it look like from street. Service was very good. We ordered Sigara Böreği for a starter. Nice, fresh - just what you would want. They also brought a basket of bread and a complimentary shepherd salad on the house. Best shepherd salad I ever had. I think it was the cheese but it was so tasty! I went with the chicken kabob (Tavuk Kebab) and my husband got the Yoğurtlu Adana Kebab. Both were great. Chicken was nice and juicy. I'm genuinely not the type of person to give bad reviews. I normally wouldn't say anything at all. But today I feel like I need to. I came because I loved this place and the food, but today when I asked the waitress for one of the small appetizers combo, I asked to confirm multiple times that it was the small combo of $21. She said yes several times even when she delivered the order to our table, confirming. When we got the check, she charged me for each of the 4 appetizers, around $9 each! If it was a mistake it was fine, so I asked her about it and she said no sorry I just don't speak English well and didn't offer to update it! I was shocked. They were gonna overcharge me when I confirmed constantly that I was ordering the combo. That's not even the craziest part. When I asked them to update it, they didn't refund me they CHARGED ME the amount they were supposed to refund me and tried to convince me it was a refund because the guy labeled the transaction "cash refoun" didn't even spell it right! So they actually owed me like $30 at this point and the guy was penny pinching so much he didn't even try to refund the entire amount (70 cents). This isn't about the money. Even after all this I know it's hard to be a waitress so I still paid 20% tip of the entire amount they wrongly overcharged me plus tax. But the fact that they still were penny pinching and treating me so poorly pissed me off and that never happens. read more

The restaurant was quiet and cozy for a weekday dinner with family. We ordered the hummus to start, which came out drizzled with olive oil, and came with a starter of crispy, charred bread. We ordered the puffy bread as well, which was eggy on the top and sprinkled with seasonings. The hummus was a little bland but smooth and still delicious. Forgot to take pictures of the main courses, but we ordered the kiymali or ground meat pide and added on cheese, tavuk or chicken kebab, and the yogurt sis kebab. The pide tasted like mixed beef/lamb meat and was soggy at the bottom for the middle portions. If the bottom was crispier it would've been perfect. The chicken kebabs were tender and juicy, and came with a side of rice and vegetables. The yogurt kebab dish was the most interesting - there was a layer of bread cubes covered in yogurt sauce at the bottom and it almost tasted like pizza. It was topped with the sis kebab, cooked perfectly, with none of the usual funkiness accompanying lamb. Would definitely come back again to try some other dishes. I had been looking to try this restaurant for at least a year and finally a friend and I decided to check it out. Given that the restaurant has 200+ Yelp reviews and is sitting at 4 1/2 stars, we expected a solid meal. I wasn't necessarily prepared for a meal that didn't even include one miss. Every bite was a hit and we took a lot of bites. We started with the large appetizer sampler, five dips served with bread. Lebni was our favorite (a creamy seasoned yogurt with walnuts) but the acili ezme also had a spicy punch that woke up our palates. The other dips were also solid and the plate came with some of the finest stuffed grape leaves we've had. (My friend usually dislikes these and still enjoyed them here) The leaves were tender and the flavor was in check, not super powerful like you can occasionally get with some stuffed grape leaves. We also ordered Lahmacun and it was both delicious on it's own and with some of the dips rolled up in it. We knew we wanted one of their famous pides and our very helpful waitress recommended Kusbasili pide. This was a fantastic pide that featured a tender and crispy crust filled with tender lamb, onions, peppers, and cheese. Of course we were pretty full at this point but when you're eating this good, moderation doesn't come to mind. We ordered the Dayi's Combo and it was the perfect entree for two. The chunks of chicken and lamb were juicy and flavorful and the ground patty was so tasty it almost seemed buttery. All of that was served over two types of rice which were also quite good. Once you've had all that, it's hard to say no to dessert. The baklava was in a league of its own, tender and perfectly flavored. The kunefe was also an enjoyable dessert, buttery and crispy over tangy cheese. My friend enjoyed the Turkish coffee. The staff was very friendly and made certain that we were enjoying their food. We like to get the appetizer mix platter which comes with a bunch of different dips and salads. The special breach is also awesome so try that. We also get the shepherd salad and lentil soups and the lahmacun as apps. FYI Their lentil soup is the bomb! For entrees any of there grilled meat dishes are great I love the Adana kebab. We have always loved Cinar for dinner and Beyoglu for lunch, and decided to try a different one - Dayinin Yeri - all in Cliffside Park. We haven't been to Turkey and cannot tell which would be similar to authentic Turkish flavor, but Dayinin is not for me. My sister seems to like the lahmacun. As for me, I have had better lahmacun at Marmaris Cafe in Edgewater. I definitely prefer the appetizer dips at Beyoglu. Everything seems to be lacking something at Dayinin. I will give it another try for other dishes but I am not that excited about this place. I would not be able to say anything about the kebab or any other meat dishes, but we will probably go back to our usual restaurants ^^ read more

My family has been enjoying Dayi'nin Yeri for as long as I can remember because our experience is consistently excellent! Everything from the atmosphere to the friendly service to the food makes it our favorite Turkish restaurant in the area. We usually start with a salad (with lots of yummy cheese) and an appetizer platter with 5 different spreads. My favorite is probably the labne, made with some herbs and crushed walnuts. And all this goodness comes with a basket of warm, toasty bread. I'm usually full at this point but we can't stop there. We usually order a Turkish pizza, as well, and if you look around the restaurant, pretty much everyone has one on the table because they're delicious. Highly recommended. Another popular item for our family is the lentil soup. I can't say enough good things about it, I absolutely love it. Probably the best lentil soup I've had and I wish I could make it myself! Our main course usually involves some kebabs and fish. Recently we've been enjoying the branzino. It's always fresh and flavorful- perfect for the family to share. Last but not least- dessert! Think of an old kitchen from the 70's where pink and green were dominant home decor colors. That's how i felt sitting in the place. It's small and cute, but can use some interior design enhancements. The servers are very sweet! One lady insisted on moving my car for me to relievw me from neesing to get up and leave. She even came back amd had small talk about the history of the Mediterranean.
