Listen... every time I go to DC, I have to swing by Jesse Taylor Seafood for some cooked blue…read morecrabs. It's just a must! Now I'm not even gonna lie--the prices have definitely gone up a bit. The extra large crabs were $109 a dozen, so I grabbed a half dozen... and BABY... when I tell you those crabs did NOT disappoint!! They were BIG, heavy, and FULL! Not the prettiest things either--rusty, ugly little shells--but don't let that fool you. Honeyyyy, they were sweet, juicy, and packed with meat! I absolutely indulged with zero regrets. And let's talk about that butter I ordered on the side... whew! That just took everything over the top. Shoutout to the guys at Jesse Taylor--they did their thing! Great crabs, great flavor, and always worth the stop when I'm in the area. I'll definitely be back... even if it's just once a year! If you're nearby, go ahead and check them out--they're worth it, for real.

Be ready to get messy! I've been at this seafood market for many many markets. Since it's been revamped, prices have gone up. There were smaller stalls that also shut down as a result. So it only leaves Jessie Taylor's standing. The soups were good but I would've loved much more crab in my New England chowder. My partner got a corn on the cob and shrimp and the clam chowder. All were tasty and salty!

Wonderful pre-show dinner the other night with my BF. We made a reservation a couple of days in…read moreadvance. No trouble getting a table; we had to be there early. Our server was excellent. The ambiance bright and cheerful -- an upscale seafood place complete with an upscale, creative nautical theme. The food was great and came out fairly quickly, though we didn't feel rushed. With all the hype, we had to try the Maryland crab "crumpet," a tiny (maybe the size of a silver dollar ‍), toasty, round cranny-toast that had a decent amount of crab on top, though at $9 *each*, we couldn't decide if it was worth it. The crab was spiced nicely, though. One of our fave dishes was recommended by the server -- the tilefish kinilaw, a ceviche-adjacent blend of chopped light white fish, red onion, cucumber, mango (I think), & chives blended in coconut broth. YUM! It was served in a dish with lettuce cups, an interesting vessel for the fish-yumminess. We also shared a beet & berry salad with crunchy, candied pecans with a yogurt dressing. Yum! The entree (we shared) was surprisingly really good - another rec from our server -- the Massaman fish curry with fresh herbs & house-made, grilled roti, an interesting naan-like bread that proved great vessel for scooping up the decadent curry gravy. YUM! We also shared a Caesar salad with garlic croutons. It was good; nothing terribly special, but good. Really great meal. Great service. Great ambiance. We'll definitely be back. There's a really nice patio dining area facing the marina. We'd like to try that when the weather isn't so ghastly hot.

The shrimp hush puppies were just hush puppies; it was not worth the price. The Hawaiian poke looked beautiful, but was just okay. We ordered the lamb chops and curry. It took an HOUR for us to get our food. When it came my lamb chops definitely did not look like they were worth $60; they were extremely small and did not have a lot of meat on them. My best friend said her curry was fine, but it was nothing special. Our waiter was nice, but we often found ourselves trying to look for him and waiting for him to return to our table. The manager originally told us we could have our drinks free (a Shirley temple and a virgin mojito). We had to advocate for ourselves and ask for at least an appetizer off because we had waited an hour for our food. Overall, this place is nice for aesthetics but not for food quality and quantity. My best friend also asked for her food to be boxed and never received the boxed food. We waited so long to get our servers attention throughout the night, so we decided to just leave without the boxed food.

Visited with friends mid-week last week around 6:30pm for dinner and was blown away by the service…read more Our bartender Bary was a genius mixologist and crafted the best cocktails I've had in a very long time. Food service was also super attentive and kind. The bar area was a decently large space perfect for dining inside after a long day. We were lucky enough to have come before the rain and had great views as the sun set. The food was fresh, flavorful, and we loved everything we had. Ceviche, octopus, and muscles were spectacular but loved the fresh oysters too (clearly since I forgot a photo). Will absolutely be back for custom cocktails and great service.

It was just okay A bit pricey given the amount of food given The major issue I have with this place is the ambience. The inside seating is really small and really strange. They set us, a party of three, at a sort of bar that was centered around Frozen seafood so it was hard for us to sit around. There weren't too many tables for people to face each other which is also a little bit strange they do have outdoor seating but the view honestly isn't something that I would recommend for outdoor seating even though it's on the wharf Parking in this area is really tough. Either take an Uber or plan to pay for parking or come at an Nothing else really stood out. I doubt I will come back here.

I had dinner here and enjoyed the outdoor seating area and water views…read more The Sangria Roja was a nice accompaniment to the tapas and paella ordered. The Croquetas Cocido in particular were very good. It was filled with Jamon Iberico and chicken porcini aoli, very tasty. Additionally I tried the grilled octopus, sobrasada (fine cured charcuterie) as well as the Iberico and Scallop Paella. It's no wonder why this is a Michelin recognized Spanish restaurant as the meal was outstanding.

The ice cream sandwich was interesting but slightly too big as it was melting before I'd had more than two bites. The Benedict I had high hopes for but sadly the crab was minimal and very, very burnt (as you can see in the photo--the dark mass). I ended up just pulling the small bits out and eating the rest on its own. I would rate my experience 3.5 stars. The service was good. There was a bit of a gap where I was asked if I wanted another glass of cava, I said yes, and then waited for around 20 minutes--with an empty glass and the bottle in a bucket next to me, it was a little odd it wasn't poured upon me saying yes. Also, upon tasting, there was a very foul odor to the cava. The server did provide a fresh glass, but to wait that long, then to wait another 15 or so minutes to grab the servers attention to tell them meant I had a near full glass as everyone was ready to head out the door. Overall I would be open to trying this restaurant again in the future but would probably order à la carte given my outcomes.
