5 stars for the customer service, responsiveness, and communication. I needed my Viking range serviced as my oven would reach temperature and then fluctuate below/above by 50 degrees. Not a good thing when you're baking and end up with dry cupcakes and flat cookies. I called up Airport Appliance where I purchased my range but no longer in business and given the Viking Range (1888-845-4641) support. Based on location I was referred to De Anza Appliance in San Jose. Chris was very friendly, responsive and mentioned at the onset the visit would be $200. Ouch! Whaddya gonna do when you need it fixed and only trust and Authorized Viking Repair place. Ofa was sent for the service call and arrived within the timeframe promised. Friendly, thorough and professional. Fortunately, not a big issue and corrected with a visit as wiring was hitting metal and throwing off the temperature. Our fridge was on the blink and we called De Anza appliance. They were able to send someone next morning 8-12 window. The tech came promptly at 8. In 5 mins he had diagnosed the problem as a faulty compressor. Unfortunately repair would cost more than the fridge so his recommendation was to buy a new fridge. read more

I do not typically write Yelp reviews; however, this experience was so unprofessional and frustrating that I feel compelled to share it. From the outset, the scheduling process was unnecessarily difficult. The individual handling the appointment contradicted herself multiple times--initially stating that no appointments were available and that she could not contact a technician, only to then, moments later and in a noticeably irritated tone, say she would reach out to see if someone could come the following day. This inconsistency, coupled with the tone, immediately set a poor impression. When the technician arrived, the experience did not improve. He was not approachable and made little effort to engage in a meaningful discussion about the issue. After briefly lifting the agitator cap and identifying some visible debris, he prematurely concluded that he had found the problem and declined to conduct any further inspection without additional charges. He stated that he can look at other components of the washer for $275! Then he stated that the next level of looking would be for $310 and he could not continue unless I agreed to pay the bother amounts. In my view, an inspection fee--particularly one of $180--should encompass a thorough evaluation of the appliance to accurately diagnose the issue. Instead, I was told it would cost an additional $275 simply to take the next step in investigating the problem and so on. That approach felt both unreasonable and dismissive. The technician appeared unwilling to reconsider or perform a more comprehensive assessment without escalating costs, even after contacting his manager on the phone in front of me. In addition, he firmly told me as he stood in front of the washing machine that he could not proceed unless I paid the additional amount, but then a few moments later after getting off the phone with his manager, said he can come back and look at the issue after cleaning the agitator cap doesn't resolve the problem. I then said I would need to pay $180 more and he said no I can come back and look at it further. This response made zero sense. At that point, I declined to proceed further, paid the $180, and ultimately had to continue troubleshooting on my own and engage a different company. I also made an effort to provide feedback by leaving a message for the owner or manager, but never received a response. Overall, this was a disappointing experience marked by poor communication, lack of professionalism, and questionable business practices. Would you pay $316 to repair a refrigerator, or pay $2000 for a new refrigerator? Friday midday, the freezer working fine, but the fridge section warm, not cold. Checked the air vent in the wall separating the freezer, and it's caked with ice. I empty the freezer, defrost the freezer the entire day , and remove all the ice building up in the vent in the refrigerator. Make an appointment for Monday morning with DeAnza appliance. $130 just for the house call. Just my luck, a heat wave hits the Bay Area, 99 degrees Saturday, with all my food in ice chests and insulated containers covered with plastic bags of ice. My bandage fix has the refrigerator is working again by Sunday . Monday, appliance technician Kevin calls at 9:45am, saying he will be there in 15 minutes.  Kevin, arrives wearing a mask correctly, and has shoe coverings. I remove all food from the freezer compartment. Kevin unscrews all the screws to the shelf holders, as he needs to remove the back of the freezer compartment and thaw out the frozen water lines. Kevin pours water down the vent opening in the refrigerator section to thaw out any remaining ice buildup, and puts a pliable glob shaped like moldable clay onto the opening to construct a patch where the insulation is gone from ice scraping over the past year. Uses a dry vat cleaner to vacuum up the excess water. The plastic cover to unscrew the circular water filter is broken. No way to remove and replace the filter. Ice only for insulating food, not to be mixed with drinks. Putting the shelf holders back is harder than taking things apart, as each shelf holder is different. Kevin cleans up the food stains on the bottom of the freezer with his white towel. He's always losing that towel, identical to those from a hotel room. $316 to temporarily repair the 11 year refrigerator for another year. How long do side by side door refrigerators last? Our 11 year old Kitchen Aid floor model was by far the cheapest side by side refrigerator we could find, and has already exceeded it's life expectancy. read more

On a 5-star scale, DeAnza Appliance earned a 10 today! I woke up to find that my GE washer's cycle selector knob was inoperable. I called DeAnza Appliance at 10:30. Chris, the operations manager, called me back a few minutes later to let me know that a repairman, Marcus, would be by after his lunch. Marcus arrived at noon time and resolved our issue in a matter of minutes. Very responsive but do your homework before committing to use their service. They were very clear that it was $155 for an assessment of the problem. If you use their service, then they only charge you for parts and labor and waive the $155. Technician was there for 15 minutes to confirm that ignitor needed to be replaced. Estimate for work was $425, which was way over priced in my opinion. regardless, you still have to pay the $155. In hindsight, I would've either used that money towards a new stove, or watched a YouTube video and installed a new ignitor myself. I chatted with them Chris B, on a proposal. He was the utmost professional and provided me with options and set really good expectations. I had something to repair and not many companies could set any expectations besides saying that they need someone to come by and do a service call. The information that he gave me below is helpful. Expect most repairs for those items to fall in the $300 to $500 range. If your washer is less than 10 years old it would be worthwhile. If this model is over 15 we would encourage replacement. In the middle you could go either way so long as the washer has been trouble free and well maintenaned otherwise. read more

Worst service call ever. They were recommended by the store we bought our Viking refrigerator from. Initially it took multiple calls and website service request to have them schedule a service visit, the technician showed up on time. Once he came in, he immediately said that the whole sealant/condenser system has to be replaced, I asked him how he came to that conclusion without even looking at the refrigerator?! He continued by opening the refrigerator doors , and he could not find the serial number, then he said it could be inverter issue, but we don't warranty the the work if that is not it. He opened the top panel to have look and showed me where the inverter should be, but was not willing to do more diagnoses , he started to put the top panel back on , which he was not successful putting it back together, I had to take it from him and put it back together. I regret doing business with this company due to their poor communication and inordinate delays. Additionally the tech did not wear a mask over his nose- even with my 3 year old and 2 year old present (who were masked!)! My replacement part was delayed by several weeks, instead of arriving within the promised --2 weeks, it took 6. In the interim, they did not provide updates- telling me that they would not call me, I had to call them. Once they finally received the part and scheduled the instillation, they called then the next day telling me the part was broken in transit so needed to re-order it, necessitating another delay of a month.that's ok, I get it things happen. But- this is the frustrating part- *then* they showed up on the originally scheduled installation date with the part in hand! Tech said it was a functional part, but if so why the conversation about the need to reorder from his manager? Did they give me a bad part, did they take my originally ordered part and give it to a new customer? Did they indeed receive a new part - then why not call me to notify me? Did they just install a non functional (and wildly expensive part)? I'm not confident in their work, and their customer service is atrocious. I scheduled an appointment for regular maintenance and cleaning of my washer and dryer. I specifically mentioned that I have a stacked washer/dryer and told them that if they need to move it, 2 people will be needed. They said that wouldn't be necessary unless some repairs are needed, which can be decided when they do the regular maintenance. The tech came and said he can't do anything with the dryer since it's stacked. He ran a diagnostics on the washer and said that's all he can do. That's exactly why I had clarified before booking the appointment. I paid $130 for NOTHING. I don't blame the tech. He was nice but helpless. This has been my only experience with De Anza Appliance, two issues with my brand new 60" Viking range. We had a dented side panel from shipping and a bad circuit board for the griddle. It ended up taking about 3 months to resolve each of these issues. The delays were due to Viking, not De Anza Appliance, waiting on parts shipment. De Anza staff was knowledgeable, professional, efficient, and timely. All that you can ask of a warranty service provider. Had a technician come out today to replace the rubber boot of my LG washer that had molded. i waited for the appointment a few days so they could come with the part. When Gus arrived he said he could not make the repair by himself as the machines were stacked. They never asked me about this when I made the appointment. He then quoted me over $400 to come back with another guy and make the repair. I said no thanks. Then he wanted to charge me a service call. For what? Coming out and doing nothing? Then I got to talk to condescending Pete. Pete said it's ok not to pay the service call but they would not come in the future. He went on and on about reasons that did not apply in this case. I have no time for "Pete's". No worries Pete, it's me who doesn't want to go business with you. Since the call, I have now googled the repair and found out you don't need to unstack them. The video shows how to do it from the front only. I guess they just didn't know how. I'm an almost 60 year old woman. My 20 year old daughter and I will do the repair ourselves tomorrow! This review is in regards to invoice #1219-6179-9345. Our washer (WFW95HEDC0) started malfunctioning a couple of weeks ago. When we turned the cycle selector dial it always reverted to one of the positions and got stuck there. My wife contacted De Anza Appliance over the phone to get an appointment. She told the customer representative that the machine was stacked with the dryer and that they would likely need to bring 2 people in order to be able to diagnose the issue. The rep told us that it would not be necessary, one person would suffice. We were told the service call would cost $129.95 which would be rebated on the cost of the repair if we decided to have them repair the machine. When the repair person arrived, my wife met him and he spent a couple of minutes turning the dials and buttons and declared there was an issue with the control board which would have to be replaced. He came to this conclusion without even opening the machine or testing any of the individual components, not even running the machine self diagnosis routine to check for error codes. He estimated the repair would take over $700 including labor and parts which is more than the machine actually cost when I bought it new 3.5 years ago. More specifically the report said: "Service Notes: 12/19/19, XXX, customer stating control stating in clean fresh cycle, other controls non responsive, washer has dryer stacked on top, found controls non responsive dial control staying on clean fresh. Will need control board part#w11032117 for 340.95, tax 30.69, labor 345.00, total 716,54." I felt it was strange that the technician had not even tried opening the machine and test the components so I decided to take a look myself. I ran the diagnosis and there was an error code. After that was cleared, the issue still remained. Following that, it took me about 20 minutes to unstack the machine, remove the control panel and I found that there is a moving part behind the selector wheel that grinds against a plug which should be connected to the board and it had simply come loose. I re-attached the plug and the machine is working perfectly again. Basically 20 minutes of my unqualified work was enough to fix the problem. It is shameful that professionals that are part of a business that has operated for decades conduct themselves in this way. Had I not tried to fix it myself, I would have either paid over $700 for the repair or the same amount for a new machine (plus the waste and pollution associated with discarding a perfectly good machine). This is completely insane. De Anza Appliance, we would like you to make this right by refunding our $129.95 because your technician did not do his job. It makes no sense to pay this amount of money for absolutely no value whatsoever. Please do the right thing: take responsibility and hold your employees accountable. UPDATE: Hi Chris, Thank you for promptly engaging in this thread, I appreciate it. I also appreciate the offer to refund the charged amount. I will keep an eye out for the things you mentioned. From observation after I actually went through disassembling the machine and testing, it seems like when the selector wheel was disconnected, the selection defaulted to the "clean with Affresh" cycle which resulted in all the symptoms I mentioned originally. Anyway, my meta point is that my expectation is that the technician would do a thorough assessment as described in many other positive reviews of your business here on Yelp (disassembling, testing individual components, etc) before recommending an expensive repair and that didn't happen. From a client perspective, I think that is the main piece of feedback for the team, as opposed to the technical details. Trust is everything.
