Basically spent over an hour with our dryer examining everything, taking it apart, and determined that the drive motor was at fault (8 yr old unit). It's too bad these "modern" units don't last decades like the ones we grew up with, but that's a different issue. Mahmoud informed us of the estimate to fix, and basically it's about as much as a new unit. So I went onto Costco.com and bought a new dryer. Mahmoud charged the $65 inspection fee, and I believe it was worth every bit, especially since he spent probably 90 minutes of his time here. Our dishwasher was leaking a small amount of water, right around the holiday weekend. I phoned SimpleFix on a Saturday, after reading the glowing recommendations on Yelp. They were able to come out that day, and the two friendly technicians were able to diagnose a problem with a valve on the hose that brought clean water in. They didn't have the part available, but it was scheduled to come out on Monday, and they also disconnected it from the water, so it wouldn't leak until it was fixed. They came out on time on Monday with the part and were able to fix the dishwasher. I appreciated that they tested it out a few times to make sure it was working correctly and not leaking! He quickly diagnosed the problem,he said he would have to order a new part. As with most appliances parts,it take a week to get things in. When it came in he was going to install it,but the broken ice maker started to work again. He figured it must have been a frozen line. Our KitchenAid dishwasher stopped running its circulation cycle so I messaged them in the morning and within 20 mins, I already had a reply and a time on when they would send out a tech to take a look. There was a $65 diagnostics fee that would be applied to any repair that was required. Murad showed up at my door the same afternoon and after much testing, discovered that the circulation pump motor had died. Parts and labor came out to $485 (including the diagnostics fee) which seemed very reasonable. My dryer has a metal vent inside that unfortunately got clothing material burned onto it and started staining our clothes. The necessary part to replace is on backorder for an unforseen time.
