My 15 years old Subzero refrigerator stopped working recently and its freezer side was totally not cold. The refrigerator side was still working because it has a dual cooling system with separate compressor. I reached out to Subzero for help, but all they could recommend is that I reached out to Box Appliance which is their preferred repair shop in the SF Bay Area which I already knew before calling. When I told Subzero that the earliest appointment with Box was 15 days later, the phone rep told me that she would reach out to Subzero to expedite the request, but in the end no one from Box got back to me for an earlier appointment. Don't who dropped the ball along the way but I as the customer was left in the cold, even though I got a Subzero but apparently means little when it comes to support. In search for other repair service, I came across Spark Appliance which got many great review. I decided to give Spark Appliance a try. The owner Eli quickly responded to my request and came over the next day. He quickly diagnose the problem to be a relay part issue to the compressor and was 99% sure to be the case. Fortunately, he had the part in the truck so was able to replace it right away. Additionally, he cleaned up my very dusty machinery to keep the refrigerator running efficiently. My freezer is still running fine few days later after the fix, so I can confidently say the problem was correctly resolved. I was lucky to have found Spark Appliance through this ordeal even though Box or Subzero did not come through. Freezer had been giving intermittent issues for weeks and fridge was not cold enough. Elsevar came promptly and checked the compressor, cleaned the coils and cleared ice blocking airflow between freezer and fridge, explaining the process while doing so. He did not guarantee it would fix the issues depending on state of compressor, but by the end of the day temperatures were in the correct range again, so saved me from having to buy a new fridge at least for now. I called Spark Appliance Repair after reading the fantastic reviews. My KitchenAid oven was no longer heating up. Eli was fantastic! He showed up, determined that the part was no longer available, but knew of a place in San Jose that sells older parts, went and got the part and several hours later, replaced it and the oven is working great! Unlike many, his fee of $85 for a service call was applied to the job and the total cost for repair was reasonable. And...I don't need to buy a new oven. After waiting more than two days for LG's Service Center to get back to me regarding ETA of their service person to replace the broken drain pump in my washing machine, I decided to call Spark Appliance/Eli late afternoon on Dec 30 to see if there was any hope of getting the repair done before the new year. Eli came the very next day, on New Year's Eve, to save the day and end the year on a good note. The price he quoted on the phone was less than what LG was going to charge and he used an LG OEM pump, not some cheap aftermarket part from Amazon. I called the owner Eli at 8:30 and Parvin arrived right on time at 11 (I was given a 2 hour window ). I went to their website and found it was super easy to schedule an appointment online, and I was able to find a day and time that were convenient for me. I'm not happy with the service I received from this company. To begin with things started wrong when Elservar didn't inform me of what was the issue before doing anything. He "repaired " the dishwasher and changed me over twice the initial $80 diagnostic service. I realized he has done something once I received the invoice. I called him to discuss why he didn't inform me of finding so that I could make a decision on whether I wanted to have him fix the problem. He gave a bunch of excuses like he was in a hurry and I didn't reply fast enough, that he was old and having health issues and I should consider him . I paid him because he "fixed"the dishwasher even without my approval. Unfortunately the issue returned the same error code. I don't trust him to come back. I called a different company I cannot trust anyone that from the beginning acts shady. read more

Booked online, fantastic, I wish all businesses would do this! At 8am I booked online my appointment for 5pm. I called to say any time anytime after 2pm was fine and learn costs. Parvin arrived at 4pm and diagnosed a dead igniter. He gave the quote for putting in a new one, explained and showed me everything, and was all done and gone within 30 minutes. Needed a repair ASAP on an expensive GE Profile 27cu ft refrigerator that was exactly two months out of warranty (grrrr). Fridge was freezing the meat drawer, but everything else in the rest of the fridge wasn't cool enough. All of this right in the middle of the winter holidays and the crazy winter weather we've been having. Elsevar was super fast to respond to my call, and was able to fit us in the next day to get the fridge fixed (broken evaporator fan motor). Super grateful that he was fast and efficient - we had to manage this for our friends in the house, from 2000 miles away, and he was prompt, punctual, and able to get it done. The repair person worked hard for 2 hours to repair the door of a Bosch dishwasher which was wasn't staying in the open position. In the end, he sort of fixed it but now it makes clanking noises when opened. I can't tell you whether that's because he reached the limit of his ability or because it's in fact a very old dishwasher. What I can tell you, and the reason for the 1 star rating, is that he somehow thought it was a good idea to rest one corner of the heavy dishwasher on a wood floor without protecting the floor, with the predictable (but evidently not to him) result that he put a whole series of visible dents in the floor, which cannot easily be repaired. One of the least professional things I've ever seen. read more

These guys came and fixed a fridge that was leaking. They also identified an issue with the compressor fan and fixed that as well. It was not cheap, but the service was quick and efficient. 2.5 months later, the fridge was leaking again. Their warranty is only one month, but they did a free service call! Great guys. My dishwasher started mysteriously leaking. Ellie came at the last minute on a Friday afternoon before New Years, and went right up to the machine and started wrenching on it. I live in a rental with a weird, ancient, rare, under-the-sink dishwasher. But it was clear this was not their first rodeo with one of these things as soon as they walked in the door. After messing around with the thing, they concluded there was no mechanical problem, but rather that the seals were so clogged that it was leaking a bit out the door. I was really impressed with how quickly they got down to business and diagnosed the problem-- which, in my case, was simply to give the thing a deep cleaning. They charged me the base fee of $65, which considering the other guys wanted over $140, is a pretty good deal. I hope I don't have to call these guys again (I mean, who looks forward to appliance repair?) but I'd definitely trust them if I do. read more

Both Elservar (Eli) and his technician are great! Parvin, his tech, rescued us last year because our refrigerator filter failed to seat and we had a small flood. Thankfully, he could come that day (!) and got the problem solved. We had a similar problem this year and Eli discussed with us a fix that would prevent the filter from being a future problem as well. Very smart fix and saved our still very much working 22-yr old refrigerator. I was relieved as our refrigerator has wood panels that match our cabinets and appliance manufacturers don't make them so that is possible anymore. Both are gracious and efficient. Our Kenmore gas dryer stopped heating. I made an appointment through Spark Appliance's website after finding them here on Yelp. Parvin showed up on time as expected. He was upfront about costs, which I agreed to. He then immediately took the dryer apart and evaluated what the problem was. Once he discovered the problem, he informed me what that problem was, and then told me he had to go get a part for the repair. He was gone no more than 30 minutes. When he returned, he cleaned out all the excess lint and dirt that had built up and caused the problem, and installed the new fuse part, which was prevent the dryer from heating to prevent a fire. He put the dryer back together and cleaned up completely. He then showed me the the dryer was working again. Parvin was polite, thorough, and professional.
