We ate here on a Sunday morning at 8am so we beat the crowds. Service was great. My wife is gluten free & can't eat eggs, so we asked the waitress if she could get the "hash" without eggs & she said no problem. They were very willing to work with food allergies. There's always a chance of cross contamination when eating out but sometimes you just have to take a chance. I had a Pannekoeken ( a very large pancake/ crepe thing) with eggs & Debaken. It was good & plenty of food. The prices are a little on the high side, but considering the location & view it's understandable. SO if your expecting cheap Denny's food then go to Denny's. If you want a great view & to try some Dutch style food then come here. read more

I think my mistake was to order the Benedict eggs in a pancake house, because they don't know how to cook them or they simply don't have the tools for it. The egg was not properly pouched and already semi scrambled..The cook screwed up but probably though it didn't matter. They use a "dutch" bread that is like a stale old piece of toast that turned me off. Definitely don't come here for your regular eggs, since it's not their strength...You would think they know how to cook them, but surprise! The prices are hight because you are paying for the view which is amazing Note: I didn't try the pancakes, which is the reason why people come here, I just feel I need to warn those that are expecting good quality eggs, that they shouldn't waste their time here. read more

Went to this restaurant because of the view. Haven't been a De Dutch location before and I hadn't heard much about them before... Don't let the location and the decor fool you, it's just crap fast food. The Paneokaekeiekakeooen, as it's referred to, is thin, unfulfilling and garnished with whatever random stuff their head office can think of to get people in the door. The staff was nice - but when I was asking about menu items I think it's tough to stand behind your product when you throw a 'de' in front of everything. I found myself subconsciously prefixing everything with a 'de' afterwards - paid de bill, out de door, to de car, and down de street. I went with the 'the' Canadian because it didn't have a 'de'. It was 'meh'. Oh, and spoiler alert: they don't have real bacon. It's referred to as debacon and it's sliver sliced Canadian bacon. Overall, de moral of de story is De Dutch is not de place I'd hit up de breakfast foods. Edit: Sorry Michael, to clarify I did like the view and I think the restaurant looks great inside. De Dutch - The Windmill with a cup of cappuccino - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Vancouver, British Columbia

Before I say anything else: CHECK IN HERE ON YOUR YELP APP FOR A FREE freshly squeezed orange juice! I like the food here, and the view is great, earning De Dutch 3 stars in and of itself. But the service, every time I've been here, is consistently disappointing. De Dutch touts their Dutch version of pancakes (pankoek), which are amazing, as all pancakes should be. I usually order the "Canadian" breakfast, but just last visit had the Classic with "De Bakon" -- which is $3 cheaper, and just means that the bacon is cooked into the pancake batter, instead of having it on the side, like the Canadian does. If it's really that big a deal to anyone, get the meal. If not, get the Classic, and it's essentially the same thing. The service however, is consistently lacking, whether or not it's busy. I almost prefer it to be busy because at least then, I can justify the lack of service. Otherwise, it doesn't really make sense to me, and becomes annoyingly noticeable. I can tell you that you'll see your waiter/waitress when they (finally) come to take your order and (sometimes) when your order is delivered to your table. On a rare occasion, they'll stop by your table to check up on you (typically only ever once during your meal, no matter how long your stay or how many people in your party), before you have to flag someone down, to flag down your waiter/waitress to pay your bill. I usually come here on my own but, have on occasion, come here with a group of co-workers, and at various times during the week... I still haven't discovered the magic time during which I might get decent service. But the food is pretty good and, on a nice day, is a great place to eat outside and enjoy the Vancouver harbour. read more

This is a nice bright place - done up mostly in the requisite oranges, whites, and greys - serving heaping plates of very good food from a large menu. The staff is friendly and the prices are decent. It's a very good place for a filling breakfast. (I'll note that my only real disappointment was the hot chocolate. i wanted to like it. we waited an hour as it was very crowded from a load of other fellow US citizens there to watch the US women's world cup game that afternoon. we chose the wrong day to go, apparently. they had to stop seating people because the kitchen staff was so behind. we watched people leave, and empty tables just stared back at us. yet we still had to wait. pros: located right at the float planes terminal. my toddler LOVED watching them land and take off. also great area to just walk around, check out the olympic cauldron and other. walk to the best gelato place ever. cons: parking is super expensive. long wait. food is mediocre. service is EXCRUCIATINGLY slow. like amazingly how-have-they-been-here-this-long-and-still-not-figure-this-out slow. not worth your wait. read more

Love the location as much as the food. Sit outside if you can, and watch the people go by, the planes and enjoy the fresh air while looking at the water and mountains. We live in a great place! De Dutch has something for everyone - vegetarian, gluten free, meat eater .. whatever you want, they have. My friend and I came for brunch after checking out the Zoomer show. Usually I get the hash and the panecock, but today I had the scramble with hashbrowns, turkey bacon and raisin toast and fresh fruit - yum! Not cozy of comfortable whatsoever! This place needs a major make over because old wooden chairs are impossible to sit on for longer than 30 min, old filthy table cloth is like from 20th century. And the major concern is it's just sooooo cold inside! Cafe is meant to be a warm and welcoming place where people warm up to food and atmosphere not try to eat as fast as possible to get out some place warm! Beautiful spot to have brunch on the waterfront, but service was quite slow, despite the fact that the place wasn't overly filled with patrons. The pancakes were absolutely delicious though- we did the peach melba and the eggs benedict one. Oh- the debakon? debacon? Whatever their version of Canadian bacon is- is soooo good! read more

Great little spot. Good service. Side salad served with breakfast is really good. The only thing I didn't like was my Benedict came with a hard dry traditional Dutch biscuit instead of an English muffin. The waitress brought me an English muffin so it worked out. read more

Gosh, I want to give it 4 stars because the food is sooo yummy, but the service drags it down to a 3 star, maybe even a 2-star. When you finally see a server they were friendly, but sitting outside on the patio, we felt like unwanted stepchildren... waiting and hoping someone would want to serve us. Even after the excitement of someone coming by and finally taking our drink order, we waited and waited. Then asked the next server if maybe we could get a water, or even possibly a coffee? The food was decent, but the cleanliness and wait time was poor. Our table was coated in old food and had gross streak marks all over it. When I looked around, I saw the same on all the tables. Customers were wiping their own tables down with napkins. The menus and syrup container were coated and sticky. The wait time was 20-25 minutes and we were seated in25 minutes and that was really perfectly fine. From the time we sat down until we got our order was about 55 minutes. We got our check 30 minutes later after sitting and waiting with empty cups. It may have been busy, but the staff was young and did not execute handling mishaps very well. Several people slipped on a spill over a course of20 minutes before someone put up a sign. This place would be five stars with some adjustments in staff performance. read more

Have dropped into this location a couple times after frequenting the surrey location and received great customer service. No complaints about the food, it always seems good and consistent, however always a lack of customer service or any service period. Servers are always absent from the floor so always have to hunt someone down if you need a refill or the check. This is not for a lack of staff, I saw several more waitresses than necessary for the amount of people in the restaurant but they always just disappeared to the kitchen. Definitely do not recommend if you are on your lunch break or have tight timelines as you will for sure be late. read more

I've been to this location a few times and service has always been decent and food delicious. On my last visit, while the food was great, service was horrible. We waited over half an hour for our food (eventually asking our waitress to check on our order), my boyfriends food came out incorrectly, and our server would only come by when we called her over (which I hate doing but was necessary). It took forever to get our bill and then to get her to come back with the debit / credit machine. At that point all we wanted to do was get out of there. Hash browns tasted like they were from the bag (frozen). Took 3 asks to get more water. What they have going for them is the view - stunning. The people who work there seem really nice. After 8 days of travel through the west coast, this was by far he worst meal. We were referred to this place by Pan Pacific - we recommended that they take them off their list. read more

Food here is always great. I love their various takes on benedicts. And obviously the pannekoeken (sp?). This location has a beautiful view of the harbour and floatplanes. The huge problem with De Dutch, and not confined to this location, is consistently slow service. They need to hire more kitchen staff and severs. 3 times out of 4 that we come here you will wait 10-15 mins to get your order taken, then another 45 mins for your food, and your server will be always in a rush and never around to check on you. We put up with it because we really like the food, but we only come on rare occasions when we have a lazy morning with lots of time to lounge around and wait. Long story short, if you're in a rush, don't eat here. If you have time to spare, you'll enjoy the food. read more
